Why are so many people shortening SuPport job as suB job?

I see sub in subjob as the prefix sub- and not shorthand for support. Like submarine, subway, or subgroup. Meaning secondary or subordinate job.

Like Cor/Brd/Geo are Sup. Jobs

The /XXX jobs that you can set after the quests in Selbina/Mhaura are subjob.

Just for clarification:
Sub in those instant does not mean secondary but below

Sub-marine it under water
Sub-way its under the ground
Sub-ordinater well...

Subgroup, Substation, Subplots, Subspecies, Subcontractor, stop trying to point out how people are wrong calling it subjob when I've already shown you to be wrong.

Imaging if someone ask you to do Bumba without support jobs, that'd be crazy. Now doing Bumba without subjob, that's like... obviously

COR party doesn't work

Yes, it does. THe maximum roll effects share song slots, and a single party is alloted 12 roll or song effects total. This means an all COR party meets the buff allowance perfectly, while an all BRD party would have 3 BRDs doing no singing (or alternatively, all BRDs only need Gjallarhorn, and no one sings any dummy songs or needs Prime horn).

Your notion is preconceived based on your own opinions and knowledge. You're mistaken on several counts, and your WHM analogy doesn't pass muster, either. It's nothing like what I'm describing about COR.

COR is a job that can pull more out of its subjob abilities than any other main job, because of the vast versatility of Phantom Roll, Random Deal, and Wild Card. It fits into any party. That is a type of versatilty. It's in the name of its 2hour, in fact. COR is a Wild Card. It can almost do anything, but you have to be the one to make it work (And it's almost anything because again, no blunt damage. All COR party can't beat Jailer/Warder of Temperance ;-; WAIT! 16 Club skill Malefic Cudgels GO!).

If I were going to try to tank on it, I would try to make allowances for myself(coordinate with party to have them work around it), and I'd use PLD sub. It would be as simple as taking first action with a gun shot(or Flash) for the bonus 200CE+damage, then using Sentinel, then Flash(if not used as pull), then using Random Deal, and then using Sentinel again. This would all be done in a high HP, high +enmity set. After that it'd be Flash into Phantom Rolls, which I would leave up, and then I would rely on Flash, Quickdraw, and Physical damage to hold hate while also swapping into a high HP, -50%DT build, and attempting to gain more CE through use of Cure IV before laumching into dealing as much damage as possible without sacrificing HP or DT. If/when I lost hate I would Cure IV the person I lost it to until I either pulled it back or ran out of MP, and after running out of MP I would use Cover on them.

-50DT is enough to tank a lot of things. It is higher demand on healers vs. the-PDT II that PLD and RUN can get, but it is enough. You just have to focus on other defensive stats too, like VIT, DEF, Parry/Evade/Shield, and HP.

High HP also feeds into Enmity retention, as the higher your total HP, the less enmity you lose when struck.

It's currently possible with Master Levels and the right accessories for almost any job to spike their HP to about 4000(or more!). With -50DT and an appropriate defensive set this is enough HP to tank Dyna D Wave 3 bosses if you've got a committed healer (which I haven't done it as COR, but I have done it as WAR).

When it's all said and done, it's less that COR can't do what I describe, and more that there's no reason for it to do what I describe. Except for funsies.

I think the biggest issue with all cor party is the lack of haste, lol. Cor's physical/magical defensive buffs are pretty potent, so cor can probably DD tank things like other DD tank with all the defensive buffs on. Shadows from /NIN or phalanx/SS spam from /RDM (depends on mobs) also adds extra survivability on top of the defensive gears. Or you can do evasion set + evasion buff, which also works on some mobs.

But without at least one person capping haste the experience will be awful. spells for survivability and hate generation will suck without haste.

The lack of haste is the true weakness of COR IMO.

Edit: Also, cor/whm or /sch may need ballad from brd too because evokers roll sucks for MP generation. That's another weakness for cor as a healer.
