But like Legit. Did someone test this already? I googled it and people have asked the question, but I don’t see an answer showing tests conducted on it.
Go get one and test it out.
It should. Master levels "count" as levels for check purpose. that means it's supposed to work.
But doesn't. ML4 is a multiple of 8 (M0 is 100) Asura.Frod said: » Go get one and test it out. I will if no one has. I just wanted to ask first if someone had done so already. Will I get the effect? It will not work as it only takes job levels in to account. When the weapon was made, master levels did not exist, so it would make sense that master levels do not affect how it works. Asura.Eiryl said: » It should. If we’re counting MLVLs as their own levels: MLVL 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48. If we’re counting MLVLs as additive to the current lvl system: (MLVL 4) 104 [additive lvl divisible by 8], (12) 112, (20) 120, (28) 128, (36) 136, (44) 144. What I’m hearing rn is people think of won’t work but no one has actually tested it (because if they did, they would have said so).
Given FFXI spaghetti code, it IS possible. I will try it. If it doesn’t work I’ll complain on the official forms about it in a Google translated JP post (because NA don’t matter).
We have two systems ATM, iLevel and Mlvl. Just check with an odd and an even Mlvl and the same iLevel.

Someone said it didn't right after master level was introduced, and he has the club in equip history if you had any reason to doubt him. From a balance standpoint, I don't think it makes sense to allow it to work based on ML. Sitting at ML40 or 48 for a much easier/cheaper/dual wieldable kraken club is very generous. Someone else on Bahamut also told me they tested it and it didn’t work.
Big sadz is octave club the only r/ex version of NM drops that wasn't a faithful 1:1 copy? wonder how much they regret adding the original kraken club to the game.

The rarity of Kraken Club alone keeps Beastmen's Seals relevant for decades. I'm sure they can query how many Kraken Clubs there are across all active characters since it was introduced, and there's likely a tiny fraction in circulation. If FFXI continues for another 10 years, Up In Arms BCNM will continue to get run daily by the hundreds. People can spend their login points endlessly on orbs to try for a chance at it. The recent interest in it over the past half decade or so is due to all the gear creep and gameplay changes that has allowed for it to be accessible inn ilvl era (tons of acc+ gear, better food options, Job Points, MLs, etc). It wasn't this sought after prior to ilvl, and I'd argue it wasn't even super sought after shortly after ilvl. It became a recent craze due to player hype tbh (when I got mine, it was less than half of the price it is now, and that was less than 3 years ago). Kraken Club has unintentionally become the most desired item for the longest period of time in the game, just because the players made it that desirable. It's introduction can be viewed as a huge success, IMO. They probably regret not introducing more of these kinds of ultra rare carrot-items to keep people chasing after them xD Kraken club is also a meme and relatively well known even outside XI.
Their kclub plushie is for sure the hottest seller on their store, along with the verm cloak. No numbers on this just a feeling. Just to add to it, only 1/1000 orders should get a kclub when ordered, so it can be chased IRL too.
Can you even buy those things right now?
They showed them off in one of the Freshly Picked (or whatever it's called) videos.
They had Eri-san the VA advertise it for them. Lakshmi.Buukki said: » Kaffy said: » wonder how much they regret adding the original kraken club to the game. Zero. Initially, though, they changed a large number of NM drops into r/ex versions to discourage people from camping the NMs 24/7 and selling drops. Unless I'm mistaken, kraken club was the only one where they changed the item itself into a much worse version of the original. I'm not saying kraken club is on the same level as peacock charm, ochiudo's kote, emperor's hairpin, leaping boots, etc. only that they were all adjusted at the same time. https://gb.store.square-enix-games.com/final-fantasy-xi-plush---kraken-club
That's steep also looks like this is the international store dunno what that is in freedom units because lazy or if they will ship. Did not see the cloak, the crab looks like a better deal everything in SE merch store is expensive :)

Weird, the leafkin plushy is there on the NA store but not kclub.
I believe that's Eri-san in the picture. ![]() Kaffy said: » Lakshmi.Buukki said: » Kaffy said: » wonder how much they regret adding the original kraken club to the game. Zero. I'm not saying kraken club is on the same level as peacock charm, ochiudo's kote, emperor's hairpin, leaping boots, etc. only that they were all adjusted at the same time. They kinda had to. Imagine if they didn't and every single player now had an octave club that performed the exact same way as kraken. Super busted. They knew how broken that weapon was from the beginning, putting out a fake version and stuffing the original in a bcnm with god awful drop rates was the smart thing to do. Of course they couldn't have anticipated kraken being usable over a decade later; I don't believe ilvl was anywhere close to being in the plans at the time, but even for that era, it was broken. But it was only a toy then because most jobs couldn't land any hits with it, so it was fine for the time. The revival of kraken was just an unintended side effect of iLvl scaling. They made out like a bandit with that weapon yeah that's all I meant by regret
