I demand the most hardcore of servers, 1.0 version of the game, no QoL improvements, and if you are knocked out at all ever your character is deleted and you are banned from the server.

Anything less is pussy *** easy mode.
This has actually existed before btw, twice to my knowledge. It was not very popular. I think it could have been if the implementation had been better though, it really should have been a seasonal server.

There was a guy a few years ago who was working on a seasonal version of basically exactly this and it had this crazy robust "achievement" system that was live-tracked via their website. He never actually ended up launching it though cause I think he got really sick irl. I guess his plan was to track the leaderboards based on who got the most achievement points and those points were tied to all sorts of different progression things. You weren't banned from the server if you died but your character was dead forever and you had to reroll. It was actually pretty cool? He sent me the source code for the website and server and I considered booting it up but just really didn't want to run a server again lol.

Hey everyone, just wanted to pop back in and say thank you for all the interest, attention and support the server has receive. It means a lot to see the positive responses.

We have added half a dozen people to the team since the thread started. Which has given development a boost and things are moving steadily. I'm excited to see what we create with the help of everyone involved.

Updates will be shared here and on the subreddit as development progresses. So that those interested can follow along and stay informed as things take shape.

I've cleaned up the back and forth bickering on this page and plan to leave the thread up as a ZenithXI update, discussion, & changelog thread.

I care. I am fueled by the suffering of others.

Hello everyone.

Development of the ZenithXI server has continued making progress. I'm glad to present everyone with a quick second update on the server.

I’d like to begin by highlighting the work of our head Community Representative. They released the second episode of our community podcast yesterday and I want to acknowledge their dedicated support of our burgeoning community.

To maintain this level of dedication across the project, we've completed a refresh of our staff. This process involved cycling out inactive members to make room for new talent. We are looking for developers, testers and passionate contributors to help build Zenith. If you're interested, please submit a staff ticket in our Discord.

Last month the team shared a brief roadmap update through Reddit and Discord. Since then, we have been onboarding staff to the test server and reaching development milestones. This includes significant progress on our core tools. The website's player and GM interface is now in beta and the launcher has completed its alpha version.

A new tool for managing .dat files is now complete. It handles their search, extraction, modification and re-encoding. A special thanks to the Windower team, whose public repository was helpful in understanding the dats and how to extract them.

The team's current priority is working through the beta checklist. It will take some time yet but when we are ready for the next step, we will put out a call for beta testers. I'm excited for what lies ahead and look forward to sharing it with the community.

The project has only been running a few months and you already had to do a "staff refresh" because of inactive people?

Dead project is dead.

It's normal for hobby projects to see volunteers come and go for all sorts of reasons. Someone might be enthusiastic but then real life has other plans or there are competing interests for their personal time. Several members have experienced significant life changes and that's just how it goes.

I always tell the team that real life comes first. There's ultimately no obligation to their time. That said, we rotated out volunteers with prolonged inactivity in order to rotate in new ones to fill those roles.
