Timeouts - I'm at the end of my wits
So I recently got a new laptop, win11 pro, intel chip, nvidia gpu. I run 2 characters thru windower. Been getting disconnected with multiple POL- and FFXI- codes quite frequently, anywhere between 30 min to 6 hr, but it's only been happening on whichever character is in the background at the time. I think I've tried just about everything to fix it that I've found on forums and discord. Anyone got any idea?
what pol error number?

I assume it works similar in win11. ![]() Have you tried killing « killer instinct « and it’s stupid game mode?
Network connection check in the POL launcher network settings?
More than likely your GPU is entering some power saving crap and killing the background frame rate.
Are you using dgvoodoo? DgVooDoo_Setup_Guide Have you checked Event Viewer on windows 11 yet? Quite often application crashes will dump info there.
Just type "Event Viewer" into your search bar at the bottom and it'll come up, and take a look at the logs lining up with the time when your game crashed, see if anything lines up. Have had to do this with 2 laptops Lakshmi.Byrth said: » Network connection check in the POL launcher network settings? Having a similar issue. I'm getting random R0's on 1-2 chars, every other character is rock solid. I swear it feels like one or two are just randomly cursed and experience R0's on them but not any alts on their account or others on the same PC/connection. However, I have never heard of this setting before. It's currently Enabled, but I noticed POL "recommends" disabling. So which is best practice? Error Code: FFXI-4002 then followed up with Error Code: POL-0512 AI tells me about firewalls or anti-virus settings. There is also the possibility of port forwarding TCP/UDP though I'm not sure if that is recommended, maybe others can chime in. Also this: "Disable Windows 11 Core Isolation (Memory Integrity) – Some users have reported this helped resolve similar issues." Hope that helps. This has been happening to me but only on my main character, always him. A lot of times it will happen when I wake my monitor and then go to youtube, the game randomly times out even though it was on all night

I don't know what it does exactly, but I think it has something to do with DNS? Maybe related, maybe not but since around June 8th I've been having a ton of issues connecting and have gone as far as to Wireshark my connections to see what's happening.
Basically I can't launch the game when I'm on my spectrum connection at home. Tried both wired and wireless. The problems disappear when I connect to a VPN or use my hotspot. Multiple pol errors that I can't remember but were like 3001 or 0011. Some interesting stuff pops up on Wireshark. Basically, the pol server kicks my connection off due to a security issue and then I see multiple DNS resolution attempts. It feels like a TLS issue but I am stuck with my troubleshooting steps. Moving to Google DNS, Open DNS, and Cloudflare DNS doesn't help. It's very stupid but at least it works on my hotspot or VPN. Anecdotal as hell, but after disabling network connection check in POL I didn't see any R0's for about an hour. Went afk for a few hours with my characters literally just standing in various zones doing nothing, returned to check on them and every single one was hit with a disconnect.
Not that it's super important, but I was running a ping to their server at the same time and it showed 0 packet loss or even high pings (avg of 113ms from PNW). So maybe turning it on helps to prevent all of them going down at the same time if some weird hiccup happens? I'll test again with it disabled but damn is it a PITA to log in 6 characters. That is my experience as well. Without it, everyone gets booted something like exactly half an hour after login with a super slow R0. My googling memories indicate it is somehow related to the ISP. Probably failing some session renewal somewhere.
I've been getting kicked off all morning. Spectrum/Charter.
I'm in the same boat. Disconnects last night and again tonight. Game is completely unplayable once it starts. This blows!
I was having these issues also. I do believe it may be an ISP thing?
Using a VPN solves these issues. When I moved into a new house in 2019 I had a similar really annoying issue - I could keep a single character logged in no problem, but a 2nd character would go R0 at exactly 10min after logging in, out of nowhere.
It's some sort of deduplication that the ISP does that prunes the connection - FFXI is... weird. I never found any way to solve it by tweaking FFXI settings, 8 months later I moved into another house and the new ISP did not have this issue. Mudfish has a pay per traffic plan VPU that is perfect for FFXI as it consumes ever so little. It's specific for games, has great routing to Japan (works great for asian mmorpgs in general) and can be applied per-process, so it'll route FFXI but not youtube, not even by accident. Strongly recommend. I learned that it existed from Proth. I think there were network issues (in general yesterday) I R0'd 3x and some zones (instanced generally) were noticeably laggy yesterday while I was playing.
I'll be honest, I had no idea this game can run on a VPN and so I started yesterday, did not see single dc. Who knew ISPs can't handle FFXI. /mindblown
Thanks all Something has changed for me as well
at 0000 est my whole network seems to go down without a router reboot maybe 1-2 mins Oddly enough if I let it pass at least I don't have to login again just select a character Has happened 2-3 nights in a row I use an ad guard dns but I feel like my connection to ffxi should change after I am connected Router uptime is consistent Did we list any good vpn choices I was having issues during Sortie last night. Most of the run was smooth, but in the last 10 min I was having heavy R0ing before I crashed the first time. The second crash was a POL-2059.
Me and my friends were just talking about this yesterday. Both of them were complaining about disconnecting and r0ing all day yesterday and today it's happening to me now. I don't use anything special and have never had disconnecting/r0 issues in my house since I moved here in 2019. I have Verizon Fios Gigabit
As matter of fact, i'm r0ing right now on all my accounts inside my mh.
I've also been seeing sporadic R0's and red-dots across my characters the past 2 days.
Sometimes it would just be a immediate POL-2059 disconnect. Other times, it would be a slow red dot and then d/c a few minutes later, but it's definitely a random occurrence because it's not consistent across all characters. |
