Most Versatile Trio setup.
Hmmm...
Now that's a good one.
I guess my ideal BiS would be Julian Torres, Alex Tikas and HungHairyGod?
That would really be a dream-team trio! Best vers trio in the world!

Flametongue is stronger than Naegling, and having it immediately would be sweet even if you don't reach its PDL benefit for awhile (you get a sword that's as strong that you can use to farm Naeglings for your BRD and RDM). However, Drastic Axe negates Berserk's defense penalty, letting your WAR be a lot tankier while going full offense, and then they can also use Defender to sit at +10% atk and +35% defense instead of the 10%/10%. Pretty beneficial since you'll take a lot of damage until you have decent DT sets otherwise. It also has 269 macc skill, which is absurdly high for gaxe, only beaten by Prime, Lycurgos, and Labraunda, and is useful for landing the debuff breaks. Arguably I would take Onion for fresh WAR. WAR has the easiest time to gear for Fast Blade II and Savage actually is harder to gear for fresh character, because high WSD options are high rank Nyame or relic/empy/af+3. Also even assuming you will eventually gear for Savage, you can then do FBII > Savage for light. For Aeolean edge/FellCleave/etc in some content I pull them along the edge of the environment to easier AoE ws them.
sure but let's not pretend it's anywhere near as efficient as blu or bst. no positioning, no engaging = tons of time and energy saved.

Technically with ja0wait and gearswap you don't need to engage and can freely move through mobs around you, so it's much easier, but I prefer BLU by a mile. That being said, whenever I actually need anything from old dynamis, I go THF with gandring and one shot with AE, because TH. I'm a huge THF fanboy and love any excuse to use gandring, but that's not within the scope of this scenario.

What's the point of asking people for the their opinion on how you are gonna run your multi-box if you are just going to try to counter their suggestions?
the whole premise was best 3 job combo to start brand new and do as much as possible without needing to change jobs. obviously there will be strengths and weaknesses in any composition but I don't think anyone would vote for THF as one of those jobs just because of Aeolian Edge, but maybe I'm wrong.

THF to nyzul over BLU is certainly a choice.
Anyways, the whole "one job per char" is really pigeonholing yourself into a problem that doesnt need to exist. I'm not saying every char should play every job, but you should probably consider having a flexibility of 2-3 jobs per char. This isnt WoW where you pick a job on char creation and are stuck with it. You can 3box a lot of things in FFXI, but locking onto three jobs will make some of these things more difficult that dont need to be. Cor-Bard for your alts and WAR-BLU for your main and problem solved.
Full Sakpaka - Naegling war is the cheapest-strongest option. BLU for AoE related stuff. |
