Particularly curious how a standard Naegling SB spam holds up against a nicely configured two step light with Onion. Anybody seen any numbers yet pitting the two against each other?

Quote: Since I am basically retired from FFXI and don't really see myself NEEDING anything here I will take the plunge and get Air Knife to report back whether it works the same way as FT/IB It does. The wind damage is based on agility, and the damage is reduced by MDT accordingly. I have 390 agility and did 390 damage every time against a raaz. But umbrils reduced the additional effect to 341 every swing. That makes Air Knife the highest damage offhand for pure white damage output. And with a delay of 150 it swings exceptionally fast. What's more, air knife's additional effect overwrites haste samba on the offhand swing, but you still apply samba on the mainhand swing. So you can have both haste samba from your main hand dagger and the wind damage going simultaneously with no detriment. It's actually one hell of a play toy. As a career warrior myself I'm glad prime GA > Naegling. lol. That's why I am leaning towards shield. Yeah I'm a one trick pony WAR too. Figure I'll get Onion Sword III should they ever do this again (or if I actually get insanely lucky with actual bonanza).
But I went with Flametongue for fun, but also just cause it feels like it's an offhand that can justify dual wield without TP Bonus. That's also actually a strong mainhand option, too. (I wish these were Dboxable on same account, so very badly) Asura.Melliny said: » Quote: Since I am basically retired from FFXI and don't really see myself NEEDING anything here I will take the plunge and get Air Knife to report back whether it works the same way as FT/IB It does. Awesome, I was hoping it worked this way Seems I have my pick! Definitely going to get the sword when I can sit down. WAR/RDM/BLU are my favorite jobs to play and that sword just plays into their strengths.
Asura.Sechs said: » Yes but swapping shield resets your tp, so that means you need to farm enough TP to use Haste Samba with Single Hand and Diamond Aspis, then use Haste Samba, then swap to two weapons, rinse and repeat in ~113 seconds (instead that 90). I mean... I dunno, I'm a bit unconvinced. The more you think about it the less appealing it becomes. Thats why you bounce the idea off other people and see if you missed that part of it. Wouldn't sell me on it, like I was saying. Singer is very displeased with Miracle Cheer
Thinks it only has 2 songs and resings awkwardly because the horn isn't in any resources files. You will need to manually add the item into the lua. @line 253 local extra_song_harp = { [18571] = 4, -- Daurdabla 99 [18575] = 3, -- Daurdabla 90 [18576] = 3, -- Daurdabla 95 [18839] = 4, -- Daurdabla 99-2 [21400] = 3, -- Blurred Harp [21401] = 3, -- Blurred Harp +1 [21407] = 3, -- Terpander [22249] = 3, -- Miracle Cheer} Just a heads up for ya to be aware. EDIT: Seems as though some other tweeks are going to need to be made as well, it can't understand the duration properly Possibly changing "base duration" from 120 to 600 or 900 Is anyone aware of any testing with Wizard's Rod? Seems like it could be good for helix bursting

Aero 1 IMMEDIATELY upon SC opening: 33600 Aero 1 @ 5 seconds left on skillchain: 38231 Aero 1 @ 1-2 seconds left on skillchain: 34803 Multiple times it was this hump of damage, no weather bonuses. So I've concluded that the start of the window is 0% damage bonus, middle of window is 10%, end of window is 0%. Thus you get more damage casting in the middle of the skillchain window. That said, here was my gear set... main="Wizard's Rod", sub="Bunzi's Rod", ammo="Ghastly Tathlum +1", head="Wicce Petasos +3", body="Spaekona's Coat +3", hands="Wicce Gloves +3", legs="Wicce Chausses +3", feet="Wicce Sabots +3", neck="Sorcerer's Stole +2", waist="Acuity belt +1", left_ear="Regal Earring", right_ear="Wicce Earring +2", left_ring="Freke Ring", right_ring="Metamorph Ring +1", back=cape.magic_int, Back gives 5 MB, bunzi rod 10 MB, Wicce Legs 15 MB, BLM Neck 10 MB, for a total of 40 MB cap in gear. So this damage is either separate of the MB 1 and MB 2, but is definitely not MB 1. Aero 1 IMMEDIATELY upon SC opening: 33600 - No bonus provided Aero 1 @ 5 seconds left on skillchain: 38231 - 27 Magic burst bonus applied Aero 1 @ 1-2 seconds left on skillchain: 34803- 7 magic burst bonus applied. With MBB1 being capped with gear, this seems to apply like the job traits/JP/gifts/mbb2. Okay so I did more testing, I noticed that when the skillchain window is in the RED with skillchains addon, you do NOT get a damage bonus. The damage is highest when it is in the green, at the earliest possible time. That is considered the opening of the window for the damage bonus. Tested this with helix skillchaining which has a longer red window than weaponskills. I am currently four hours deep in to my crippling indecision. Do I get the shield? Do I get an instrument or katana I'll probably never use? Better yet, why don't I look super cool with an Exeter? However, through all this, I narrowed it down to a single answer. SE must be nerfing the hell out of us soon. After all these years of never giving us anything really cool, why else would they be doing this now??

Then you will feel more confident in a choice and less likely to have remorse. This isn't technically true. If you cast the exact same songs with NiTro, you CAN overwrite 15 minute songs with 11 minute songs. The problem is that they NEED to be the same songs. This is also a challenge for Aria/HMarch too, though you can also cheese it the same way you used to cheese tank/healer songs: replace the existing song with a trash duration one and THEN put the 11m Aria/HMarch in the same slot. It takes some thought and careful play, but it's absolutely possible to replace MC songs with anything you want.
