Why did most events added in the past decade have dark weather? DynamisD, Alexander-, Odin- and Cait Sith HTBF, Odyssey, Sortie, Peach Power...
With the rumors of limbus remake it seems the trend continues.

Reuse of old zones that have the weather engrained. Old Dynamis always had dark weather, so, so does new Dynamis.

Walk of Echoes has Dark Weather, so all of the battlefields there have it.

Apollyon had darkness weather, while Temenos had light weather as far as I remember. Though I haven't done a Temenos run in like 12 years. (Limbus)

Generally, it served the purpose of slightly weakening cures while enhancing dark based sleeps.

It's 100% because it's the "hardest" weather. Weakens cures that players use and enemies couldn't give a ***most of the time.

Plus darkness = evil, brooding

Apollyon may have dark weather, but Temenos has light. Don’t complain about limbus being redone when it’s the only event ever created (or one of them. I can’t think of any others offhand) that naturally has a zone with full time stellar glare.

I view dark weather primarily as a leaden salute damage buff and imho CORs sam roll alone is enough to secure them a slot in most parties even if they don't deal cap dmg 24/7.

It might be. But nyzule isn't in the same category as limbus, so it slipped my mind. You only really go to nyzule to farm tokens for a mythic nowadays. Salvage was the big event in the underground ruins and that had weather from the neighboring zones, so rain, fire or wind if memory serves. The amount of light weather zones is very minimal, and out of all of them Temenos is the one that stands far ahead of the others as the most relevant for potential content. I'm hoping the limbus rework is interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing those old zones again. I always liked sea.

Its for lore reasons.

Dynamis was created by Diablos so it's going to be double dark.

Alzadaal is underwater, so water weather.

Nyzul is the broken body of Alexander, so light.

WoE/Odyssey type areas are created by Atomos, dark.
