New games suck... or is it just me?
catering to the 0.018% of the entire human population is quite the play.
Yes, so much better to cater to your sad sensibilities that get offended when not explicitly called male. That's the whole point: You refuse to give even an inch of your inclusion so someone else might feel more welcome. It's a choice between you getting 99% and everyone else getting 1% vs you getting 80% and everyone else getting 20%, and so you cling to that 99% as if you're the most persecuted person in the world. That is why you're a *** not worth listening to in the slightest.
And yet you read and replied to my post
again for like the 20th time in the last few hours I cant get enough of this winning YouTube Video Placeholder

I am not against male/female in video games, I don't lose money nor game enjoyment for a lable in character creation. I was only pointing out inaccurate statements from scientific standpoint. Afania said: » This is objectively false regardless of your political stance lol. Some intersex people has both male and female genitals when they were born. Which means they are biologically neither male or female. They may pick one gender role when they grow up, and identify with that in the society. But gender role and sex are 2 different things, and that is not a modern concept either. There are plenty of historical record about intersex people since the ancient time. I'm pretty sure absolutely nobody is surprised by your opinion. For someone who has been asking Nynja for proof that you don't make comments outside of technical game design you sure turned yourself in in this one. That's why I don't take you serious. Cause you are dishonest - always arguing in bad face. Having both genitals doesn't make them have both gender. Their DNA would still favor one of the sexes. But you already knew this. You are just a flying poopy joke. If .01% of the population is trans, but 10% of game devs are you're getting more pronoun stuff in games. The game dev industry is not representative of the population of customers at all, they have intentionally hired people from small groups due to DEI and forced hiring policies. They are also more likely to be setup and hire from progressive areas.
This is why western games are the way they are, and why they will keep doing it even if almost none of the customers want it. In past times, the people in charge were more comfortable saying no to stuff. Now they are less comfortable doing that, cause social media has allowed them to be fired for it. Personally I don't care about body type stuff or even trans characters in game (as long as they are done well), I prefer to fixate on things that actually matter. Like having attractive female characters, good writing, good world building and tiddies. If you're both with both genitals then you generally either have testes or ovaries as far as I know too. One is more dominant than the other do you're more like 70/30 or 60/40 than 50/50

I also am convinced that the percentage of "games that suck" is not significantly larger than it was 30 years ago. They are better funded, more accessible, and judged more harshly, not because good games are impossible to make, but because we've already seen so many outstanding ones. No one wants to talk much about the successes because they aren't usually as controversial. How many truly good movies are released each year? Books written? Probably single digits for both. Why would video games be any different? You start by pretending to be a voice of reason (I don't argue much) then proceed to argue just like everybody else. Kaffy said: » I also am convinced that the percentage of "games that suck" is not significantly larger than it was 30 years ago. Factually false. 30 years ago I actually had a problem with how many amazing games would come out every year while not having the money to play all of them. Today I have the money, and even the time, but where are the good games? Where are the FF tactics? 7-8-9, Metal Gears, NFS, Valkyrie Profile, Lunar etc? Games used to be defined by their tech, and every new game generation pushed the system requirements envelope further and further.
That gave us advancements in computer graphics used beyond just games. Now days system requirements are mostly driven up by OS and game API minimum requirements, those in place to push sales of overpriced and unnecessary hardware. The game engines from the 90s are still in use today.. There will need to be another id Software or Epic or Valve to push games further now. 30 years ago we definitely had more good games than bad, but we absolutely were still swimming in terrible games as well. I mean, Angry Video Game Nerd has made an entire career out of showcasing the worst of the worst.
I'm kind of excited for Clair Obscure Expedition 33, but I'm going to wait to see some reviews before I jump onboard. It looks promising, but so have lots of other games that turned out to be trash. Speaking of Lunar, I saw they released a remastered version of it, but the reviews so far are not good. Bad games can be easily ignored when you have so many good options you don't even have enough time to play them. Godfry said: » I'm pretty sure absolutely nobody is surprised by your opinion. This is a biological statement, not political statement. You are the one who viewed every statement that I made political. I never say I don't make comments outside of game design, I only said I don't have a preference on male/female/typeA/B because they don't affect gameplay. How the hell did you read that as dishonest lol. Godfry said: » Their DNA would still favor one of the sexes Before humanity even know what DNA is, they always assign sex at birth by genital. Even though it's 2025 now it's still the most common way to assign sex at birth. Calling me dishonest for bringing up genital as criteria to determine sex at birth instead of dna is kinda silly. Also, go google XX male syndrome. There are plenty of cases that we see DNA don't match their genital or exterior appearance. Which makes DNA a very controversial way to determine sex anyways. Godfry said: » but where are the good games? Where are the FF tactics? 7-8-9, Metal Gears, NFS, Valkyrie Profile, Lunar etc? There are plenty of better games than those post 2000 though. FF 7-9 all suffered from terribly slow paced and shallow combat and I wouldn't touch this kind of combat system in 2025. They were awesome in the 90s because of technical accomplishment, that's about it. Valkyrie profile has serious balance issues and honestly I had way more fun with Valkyrie profile 2 and VP Covenant of the Plume. Both has improved gameplay compare with VP1. As for FFT, I beat it years ago and immediately forgot everything about it. Wouldn't even put it on my top 10 FF title. On the other hand, modern FF like stranger of paradise is far more entertaining than all of these games above IMO. It sounds like it's just your taste issue, not game dev nor political issues. I have no problem finding games that I enjoy even today. Drayco said: » I'm kind of excited for Clair Obscure Expedition 33, but I'm going to wait to see some reviews before I jump onboard The review is out, seems pretty positive so far. That being said, I really dislike QTE in a turn based battle, so it's probably not going to get on my to-play list unless something else from that game got my attention. If that premise can't be accepted, there's not really any chance of consensus because the opponent is arguing in bad faith. If you actually read the thread, you'd know what we mean by hideous characters. It's not a race or gender thing. Calling you dishonest because you are either dishonest or very stupid. But I'm inclined to say just dishonest. People being born with two genitalia is around 0.05% and it's a biological disorder. Before DNA, the sex would still be assigned, but based on what people thought which gender the newborn was more inclined to, gender wise. Nobody back in the day was calling people body type A or B. But arguing with you is a waste of time because you yourself don't believe what you are saying. You are just dishonest about your own opinion - which is sad. Wow 5 pages of shitposting. This is why I don't backread more than 2 pages.

If you truly have nothing you want to play released recently, I'm surprised. Yeah, that's why I post my opinion and you post yours. There are zero games that I want to play after Shadow of the Erdtree. I'm looking forward to Nightreign and that's it.
