Sortie Custom In-game Maps
First, it's important to note that the full map images we shared can't be used directly in FFXI. The game divides the map into several smaller parts, so each section of the map must be modded individually and then repacked into separate .DAT files.
So you have to convert .DAT into DDS then Modding youre map in a image editor. then Repack each part into a .DAT The .DAT for Sortie Map are in: ROM/311/110-125 Phoenix.Gavroches said: » Don’t think Aminon is where you placed it, just saying Carbuncle.Maletaru said: » Correct picture, name should be Gartell. Aminon should be where Botulus's picture is. Thanks for the feedback! I made this a long time ago, and I don’t think I knew where Aminon was at the time, haha xD I’ve corrected the map now. Let me know if anything else is wrong! :) ![]() ![]() Carbuncle.Tetsouo said: » Phoenix.Gavroches said: » Don’t think Aminon is where you placed it, just saying Carbuncle.Maletaru said: » Correct picture, name should be Gartell. Carbuncle.Maletaru said: » Much better but...that's still not a picture of Aminon lol. Oh, lol... Alright, I'll look into changing that! :) I've made several updates to the map, including improvements to the fonts, monster placements, and color consistency. You can see the updated version below.
Please let me know if you notice any other errors or if there’s anything else that needs to be corrected! ![]() ![]() Carbuncle.Tetsouo said: » Hello, I created these two maps for my linkshell a while ago, and I hope they can help others as well. Here they are! Best regards, Anyway to get these from original source into a .png format rather than the destructive .jpeg? JPEG is really unoptimal for thise kind of images ![]() The maps work in-game; There is a reason why the font looks awful. Have you seen the old ToAu assault maps? Now that font is strait up illegible but they tried to pack so much information on the maps themselves. Unlike stand alone or other 3rd party maps, these will work with your minimap of choice or you can open up in big in-game map. No need for alt-tabbing or a 2nd monitor.
The maps are actually genius: 1) Say you are doing zone A, you do not need to see all the garbage information in zone B,C,and D. All the non-useful info is removed and gradually added when you are edging a new zone. Brilliant thinking! 2) Upper zones and lower zones use adjacent colors. ie, blue>dark blue so you know they are stacked. 3) The map is meant to be noob-friendly, meaning it intentionally does not use "Gadget" but says "Boss" to let newer players know, "If I touch this, I am going to the boss room". Similiarly, instead of "Bitzer", it just says "Warp" to explain function. There is even a noob-proof legend of what zones go where. |
