FFXI Intro Voice Actors

Was editing some xi files and saw the end credits images, the cast list for the intro sequence are:



Aldo
Ian Hawk

Emelyn
Paddy Lee

As far as I'm aware these are not credited anywhere officially other than in the game credits, so checked who they are. It seems voice actors used lots of other names back then but the names match and so do the voices.

I'm still honestly curious about the in-game voices and how those were made. Some battle cries and grunts don't sound like they came from human beings, and I've been unable to find credits. Yet most of the clips do sound believable. I've always wondered where those voices came from.

They barely credited anyone back then, but yeah they are all proper voices but sped up to lower the file size (then slowed back down for the game). It's always weird to me when messing around with files and stuff and thinking, someone was probably paid a pittance for an hours work to make some grunt sounds and vast numbers of people have enjoyed that noise for the past 20 years lol

It's entirely possible that the voice actors listed above did the actual game voices in the game files too. That way they wouldn't have to pay them again

There is always something magic about knowing about how games are made. Personally really enjoy this kind of stuff, specially in the early 2000-90´. Less influencers/actors/etc, more about people in the game because they really like it

This is the most important question that needs an answer.

I love little info bits like this. I always wonder about things like development decisions and why they did this or that. Voice actors from this era were really not in the spotlight. They just recently found all the original RE1 cast from the opening video ans the voice overs. Most didn't even know about the game lol but they are all over it now which I think is cool.

Love to find their process for how they made a lot of the game sounds lol
