Minimal file size difference.

Home point file location:

rename 25.dat in rom/3/
download mod
rename mod to 25.dat
zone to reload
if using xipivot unload addon and reload for new file to be recognized

Aww, man, this looks lovely, but is there any chance there’s a version without the glow effect? (For smooth FPS purposes.)

Seriously beautiful work.

As above but without the glowing effects on the floor

Updated a mod made by Jeanpaul in 2016 that removed the glow effects from a normal homepoint, it's as above but without floor glows.

Thanks for this. Anything to help the old laptop out is much appreciated. And it looks better too.

This is great! Thx for your Work.

Speaking of Lag, do you have other Dat Lag Fixes (Maybe a Bundle)? And do you maybe have a "Ru'Lude Gardens" Dat? During D-Jeuno, specialy towards Maat, the Lag is extreme.

I've made a few over the years, the problem is that since I don't get the lag myself it's hard to test things out.

The lag is usually caused by video card driver problems trying to display certain old visual effects.

Couple of lag/visual mods I made

Geo bubbles

https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/55121/geomancer-luopan-and-indi-mods/

DynaD /Lillith Gyves

https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/55468/dyna-d-and-lillith-gyve-lag-relief-mods/

For the lag in Dyna D Jeuno, do you also get it in regular Dyna Jeuno in that same area?

Thanks alot! I asked for permission on the Geo Bubbles.

Just went in Normal Dyna-Jeuno, it also drops frames 60 to ~50 when i go towards Maat. But not that bad as in Dyna-D where my Frames drop to ~20 sometimes and my GPU goes to 99% or Ru'Lude Gardens itself ~40. Maybe its the Fog? @Homepoint 1 im at 60 FPS again and 45% GPU (6 chars)

I have the same Problem in Eastern Adoulin (near MH/AH/Bridge) or Western Adoulin (MH or near Bridge, Entrance to Rala) Frames drops and GPU Spikes to 80~99%.

If u want me to tests some dat's, I will gladly do so :)

look at the gaia no lag patch. you might just want the part that changes abyssea maws. as the moogle can be fixed with "/localsettings blueffect off" command

I've been using this for a few days, and at first I was sceptical that it wouldn't fit in. Turns out I was wrong and it looks absolutely gorgeous :D the panning(?) effect is mesmerising lol.
Thank you for making this!

just a quick testing.

stod in fornt of a crystat facinbg it in first person view mode so it took up god amount of screen realestats

zones back and forth a couple of times with and without the crystal with no glow.
All FPS values was withing margin of errors.

This was just a quick and dirty test

-- edit --
i tried replacing homepoint crystal with runic lampt to see if itwas due to "motion" i the model.
that dropped FPS big a clear amount. around 10% FPS drops (44 to 40ish)

Lag caused by home point, bard songs, light glows and other things are a driver issue usually. The effects are so old the driver doesn't know how to handle them properly so it lags out.

Most people probably never get lag at all around home points.

I dont know if i agree with this. it seems something ppl repeat without any proper testing or evidence for it.

E.G. the chatlog is a huge cause of FPS lags in the game.. the game is just poorly coded and hits single core utilization fast.

Just some prelimary testing done

Tavnazia Homepoint 1
Original 161-179 246-296
Pink Crystal 181-197 287-317
Runic Lamp 184-199 285-317

The first sets of numbers is the FPS range with the chatlog on.
The second sets of numbers is the FPS range with the chatlog off.

This is in a remote place with no mobs or players in the zone so nothing really changes between the testing. its very clear that something like the chatlog is just eating up FPS.

This is with battlemod running

just to add in some info here

if you use process explore to check the Polk process you wull quickly notice some very clear characteristic of it

1: it mainly only have 1 thread with cpu load on it
4: there is a bunch of calls to NTdll > RTuserTHreadStart
2: There is low GPU utilization 23% but high CPU utilizaion (100% of a core)
3: there appears to be no call to any graphical drivers DLL functions. (this might be hidden due to runing with vodoo

So without diggin into code it really doesnt seem like this game is utilization graphics acceleration that much compared to CPU. which is not without norm for gameengines from the start of this millina.
however the performance seems to be very supbar and games form the same age does not exhibit these performance issues on moderne computer
So shitty code is shitty.

anyawy sorry for the derail OP i shall refrain from trahinsg your thread further

-- edit --
nvm i did find the D3D8dll call for vertexshader and for nvwgf2um.dll which ibelieve is part of my nvidia driver

Didn't realize RA was also OP.

I did some testing around just for the fun of it her are some tests
All done with blurreffect off and no FPS cap, with vodoo

Tavnazia Homepoint 3
Original 74-84 84-88
Hp NoGlow 75-86 89-99
FancyHP NoGlow 76-86 87-96
Pink Crystal 77-84 89-99
Runic Lamp 78-84 90-99

Woe confluxes
Original 60-70 68-76
Flux NoGlow 110-121 131-144
Pink Crystal 118-132 136-160
Runic Lamp 118-131 144-163
TelePoint 99-111 120-138
Fetter NoGlow 66-71 68-76

La theine Maw
Original 54-57 58-62
Maw Past 55-62 63-69
Runic Portal 52-59 59-64

Teleport Holla Crystal
Original 70-78 80-95
FancyHP NoGlow 70-79 83-91

I started to test mostly in WoE because there are multiple object to replace. and nobody is around to affect the measurings so it show better the effect from the replaced models

It's very clear that the orignal conflux and even the stripped down fetter is taking a toll on the system.
Using a no flow conflux give back a lot of FPS and changing to runic lamp again gives more

Telepoint crystal also does not show to be that big of an issue
