Just watched it myself. I appreciate how he discusses both the good and bad of all of the Final Fantasy games, including this one. And while I felt like he was a little harsh at times, it still felt reasonably fair.
Kinda wish he would have gone a bit more into the storylines and characters. But I guess more than any other game, it really needed describing.
I appreciate as well how he brought up the excellent job system and the feeling of earning your rewards.

Guess the main reason he didn't go all the way on story is how long it takes to do all of them on a 75 era server like Eden. Guess he should've played retail to fast track through it with trusts.
Unfortunately he did some/most of that on a private server. It heavily skews the play/view/feefees.

There was some drama-torama about this at one point, but it ended up being false accusations from someone or something similar. Whatever PR firm he used for damage control should receive an award.
Anyhoo, hearing a reviewer talk about XI is nice enough, I suppose. Even if he is a filthy casuaul and not a lifer. Most Final Fantasy series retrospectives that I know of kind of skip over FFXI (or havn't even made it to 11 yet). I'm just glad ProJared's audience is older people. It would be a shame if it was some popular internet celebrity and they enticed youngsters to invade our lovely Vanadiel with a glowing review with all their lit swag sus dab YOLO (or whatever kids these days say on Fortnite).

I wonder how many people this is going to get to try the game. If you look at the comments of the video, a lot of people say stuff like "XI is the only one I've never played" or "I thought it was abandoned long ago".
The fact that Jared used the term "inaccessible" isn't necessarily wrong, but might have been the tipping point for a lot of potential players from ever trying it.

Absolutely not something a person should even consider starting. You wouldn't recommend anyone start smoking crack after all. Except for the people that played a lot of 1-10 and want to see strictly the 11 story.
Coming at it from the view of how it was 20 years ago made everything sound like a major turn-off. It makes me realize how much of this game I was playing because of the friends I made.

It has hurdles, but once you've cleared those it's an enjoyable story with a fantastic world and an actual feeling of adventure. Not everyone needs to rush to Lv.99 and grind out a Tizona 119-III.
