Your Favorite Mount(s)?

Now then. Thread topic.

Personally, mine is Fenrir because I like making him carry me around after all the problems people would have getting him WAY back in the day.

Honorable mention is Galka on a Crab mount. Any Galka with a regular or Red Crab mount can go out and see the following right now:

The orb because it doesn't take up the whole GD screen. People and their stupid Omega mounts while quad boxing and ***.

Edit: Hmm now I need to just need dat swap them all to orbs!

I need a cactuar mount badly. And not some imposter sabotender. I don't care how much SE pushes sabos... I will never like them. As for things that exist, I like the detector mount for the same reason as the galka crab. The larger your character is, the more it just looks like your crotch can fly.

They havn't had the Moogle mount in so long, it seems. I've been asked "Where did you get that from" when I get to camps when riding it. I believe the Spectral Chair should be coming up this Log-in Campaign for October. Those are two rare-to-get ones so if you see them available, pick them up.

Another personal favorite of mine is the Malboro mount because:

1. I went 1/52 on a Malboro NM once over several years of camping it. I have a notebook with multiple pages dedicated to ToD and Estimated time of repop. Vilma's Ring is worthless now, but once it was a dream of mine.
2. Malboro mounts are "heavy" in that they make the ground shake for you and others are you go by them.

What I really would like to see is FFXIV's Rubellite Carbuncle mount in FFXI.



Also, that grass in FFXIV, pictured above, looks just like FFXI's grass. I guess FFXIV must have PS2 limitations too.

When SE believes they can charge FFXI players 24-35 dollars per mount like they do on XIV, maybe you'll get your ruby carbuncle mount.

i like to choose my mount based on the job im on. Bomb fits NIN, Doll fits PUP, etc.

my favorite I think is the Crawler mount, because of the unique way you ride it sitting backwards. while other mounts look to be at your will, it looks like you're at the Crawler's will. catching a ride on it, or something

Someone else pointed this out recently but I'm so glad they didn't put all their attention into modernizing FFXI and made FFXIV for the zoomers instead, they ruined WoW so bad doing this they were forced to make an older version available.

If i have to pay for a mount, better it have +200% speed

My Blue chocobo! I love Galka mounts too.

Tarutaru mounts would be fitting but they arent even capable to do that.

Spectral Chair, Omega, and the Levitus are my favorites. (I love Omega because it's so over the top and huge.)
Second place would be the Xzomit. Squiddles are just too cute.

Haha, this! ...Avatar fights used to be once every 24 hours. You had to do 6 fights to get access to Fenrir, so you could only fight fenrir once/week! XD

I don't think they've changed the ability to do the fights once an earth day. Fenrir only takes collecting the whispers once to unlock though. Once you've done it, you can just get the KI every day same as the rest.

All it really meant was doing a round of the other avatars again without taking a reward.

Right yes. I remember vividly early on, having to remark the 6 KIs each time though (after a failed attempt though)

...and you need to be able to fly it at 200% speed in cities. A city mount would be legit AF. It would have to be small though because of reasons mentioned above about large mounts being to big on the screen.
