I put this together over the past few days and want to put it to the community. What references/nods to Earth history and mythology have you come across in Final Fantasy XI that you thought was particularly neat?

The video above covers Caladbolg, Aegis, Chango, Masamune, Gjallahorn, Marsyas, Verethragna, Lionheart, Loxley Bow and Peacemaker. There's, of course, a whole lot more out there but I can't really cover it all.

That's where SE gets most of their themes and character types. Direct mythological copies. But you could get deeper into the whole mythology and hero cycle being common themes amongst all story telling.


Blah blah imma shut up, cool video idea, you have a ton of material to work with.

I thought so at first and if it was just one attribute which correlated with the Peacemaker Incident it would have stayed such.

Two correlations? Still a coincidence.
Three? Umm...

Maybe, but things like "Reverse the level requirement and you have 27 again!" aren't a correlation. It was a super common level requirement for endgame guns during the 75 era.

e: Honestly I think that might be the only one I had issue with.
