[FFXI] Feast of Swords Seasonal Event Quick Guide by Brixy

This video goes over the strategies involved in farming Shobuhouou Kabuto in the Feast of Swords at Level 1. This event will end on May 12th 2020 so be sure to get your Kabuto before then!

It's a very handy item to have around.

This is a quick little 3 minute guide on how to do the seasonal event for those unfamiliar with the mechanics. You have to absorb at least 9 TP moves in order to receive the Kabuto at the end! Strategies and an example is given.

Note: Regen from the Field Manual after syncing to Level 1 tremendously helps to complete this seasonal event in addition to using the Destrier Beret.
Note: Destrier Beret adds "Regen" and "Refresh" effects with Auto-Reraise and Increases movement speed.
Note: Shobuhouou Kabuto allows a player to cast Raise on another player once every 20 hours, regardless of being in the same party.

Yes I recommend everyone gets this item, it seems silly but it literally has saved some runs for me where people got lazy and didn't reraise. Makes you wonder why they don't just add Phoenix Down, even FFXIV has it now.

(I know other jobs have Raise).

Quick question if anyone knows:

Is all my malice consumed upon receiving rewards?

Per fight, the most i can get him to use TP move is 4. Im not sure if i should always check ??? after the fight or should i just kill 2 mobs to get enough malice for high rewards in the secnod kill.

Yeah, i think its better to skip rewards till having enough malice.

Maybe just short hours till the end of the event, so few tips to do this pain in the *** event:

1. Your dmg comes just from your “enspell” type of effect the shinai have. Your Actual dmg dealt is zero thus you arent feeding tp on mob.

2. If you dont feed tp to mob, then the mob just receive tp atfter he hits a char. So, you can estimate how many hits till he can release a tp move (i think maybe after 6~8 hits he will use a tp move).

3. Aparently, he uses tp move as soon as he can. So, visually, he will start readinG the move at start of the melee swing animation. So you can so so guess when he will use the move and prepare.

4. Edge of Death long casting time allows you to easily prepare the shinai. Aethereal Toxin no. Its actually very hard to get the timing done with vanilla messages. So i sugest using battlemod, that will give barely enough time to read the message and check if its Edge of Death or Aethereal Toxin so adjust your timing. Just make sure to not start crafting and pos hack if its NQ.

5. Make sure to have 5 malices absorbed. If you are short of this by the time you beat the formor, just ignore ??? And move to another formor. Collecting reward actually use all your malice.

6. Faster with more people. Just grab a bunch and reduce the time beating the formor.

7. But not so fast! If you kill him too fast, he will use less tp moves so you eventually will need another formor. With 6 people beating it, he will use 4 tp moves before it dies. Either wait he uses a few moves before engaging or just reduce the number of people beating it around 3 or 4.

8. Grab the regen from field valor. This will make negligible the risk of dying, and it last for 1h.

I guess event is over..missed that Kabuto /cry..no worries I think I can live without it XD
