The only way it gets patched is when enough people know how to do it, it's totally ignorable until a certain amount of bodies cross a threshold. No, your wrong it's on a scale of whats been done and does SE know about it.
Lolwutt could of been the first and only person to know about it but then the way he went about letting people know about it and flooding the market would of been enough for SE to catch on.

Do you realize the magnitude of the problem. Realize that practically every single su5 item in existence is only there because of a dupe. and then realize that the only reason 99% of all Su3+1 exists because of money made from the Su5 dupes. The scale is unfathomable.
I mean look, "taru" still isn't banned, going on 30 hours with 10,000+ duped and sold items, a GM conversation, and yelling "i'm an rmt"
We're not talking about some piddly alex dupes or dynamis timer resets. This is quintillions of gil.

Time will tell what happens obliviously it will take them a few days to decide and this kind of thing is what they ban china for? so they could just nerf NA support all together.

History shows that any gil exploit gets patched.
The size of the FFXI team isnt what it used to be. It's understandable if from a logistics perspective this will take more time. But I have faith this will be fixed.

Sure you can dupe medals, but you can also do other things.

All the more reason that theyll patch it. That's even more catastrophic.

Elidyr - I think I understand where you're coming from. I see your profile. You have a lot accomplished in the past. You love d this game even though we all know it's in its "final years." Like me, and many of us, we dont trust SE to patch this, and that's why you dont want to out the secret, because thatll cause the game to collapse - terribly. But what is your logic for keeping it a secret? Is the main reason you're concerned about the game unbalance that would unfold? Because if so, that doesnt make you a bad guy at all. You're the whistle blower. In a sense, you're the guy that can actually help stop this from happening.
I'm more curious about you than this exploit at this point.
This is going to go down in the canals of FFXI history, and I want to know of the minds behind it.
Edit: I know it wasnt you who found it. You're the whistle blower.
You campaigning a little bit too hard for them cheat codes.

I wish someone would dupe Astral Detritus, *** tired of seeing them at >200k each. I need gazilions and can't afford all those I need at those prices.
Someone make the price of Detritus crash, please! :-P

On a serious note now.
These things kinda always leave me a bit with mixed feelings.
A bit sour because I feel like I've missed a train, missed a train to get rich like I always did in these past 16 years.
Then again, knowing me, I doubt I would've exploited this thing even if someone told me about it.
I'm honestly more surprised how the price didn't crash anytime sooner.
During these past 2 years medals went up and down according to different periods of time, active campaign and such, but more or less their price remained fixed at 2 mils for Beastmen and 4 mils for Kindred's.
Sooo... yeah, I'm kinda honestly and naively surprised how the *** did the price remain that high with this huge dupe thing that has been going on for the past 2 years, increasingly?
Is the demand for medals really that high that not even this cheat could satisfy it completely? I'm truly surprised about that.

I'm going to assume that most of the medals became the excessive amount of rostams that sold.
Shields masked the dupe pretty well, they got greedy and tried to skip the synthing.
6+ a day, every day, for 1000 days. (that's in excess of 1 trillion gil)

You mean indirectly? That people gets more rich through duping medals and, consequentially, those people were more willing to spend large amount of money to buy stuff like Detritus and Beitetsu, hence keeping the price high whereas otherwise it would've sinked a bit? I can see that influencing the price a bit but at the same time I don't see it creating huge differences.
The demand for Detritus is huge and there's really only so many that can arrive on the market at any given time given the lockout on Omen and Divergence.
I guess it can explain the huge bump in price for Beitetsu maybe?
On Asura it was between 5,5k and 6,5k and has been that much for years. At the end of july I bought several stacks for a friend at around 600k each.
By the end of august the price of Beitetsu reached over 11k per piece (1,1m per stack), and even now it's still around 800k.
I've always been wondering what the cause could be.
Did 80% of Asura really decide to make a Mythic/Ergon during the summer?
I couldn't believe it was just that.
But if a certain number of people had huge amount of money who they sinked into making multiple mythics, then it could partially explain the raise in demand for Beitetsu and hence the huge price jump in a short time.

I think the trick is that you can dupe any item. It's just that they focused on the medals.
It's not a medal duping trick. It's a whateveryouwantitobe duping trick.

If it were "dupe anything" medals would be relatively low priority, go straight for the shards, they're worth up to x6 more. especially with idiot tax like the monk update, there would've been hundreds of shards around. hundreds of voids. hundreds of basically any crafted item.
By Rips 2019-11-12 01:27:22
I wonder how old this exploit is. If it was discovered 2 years ago, how long did it exist before it was discovered?
Think back. Astral rings, dusk gloves +1, hauberks. Kind of mind boggling.

It's not a medal duping trick. It's a whateveryouwantitobe duping trick. No I don't think so.
There have been duping things multiple times during FFXI's life.
The previous one that I remember was the Mog Garden Chest, you could manipulate the chest and have it return back to you any set amount of gil (well, technically up to 100m per trade).
And before that there was another packets-related trick where you could get ANY item, even RMEAs, it's how some people (not gonna call names) managed to get every single REMA in the game at the time, even if after a bit they decided to hide that information to avoid getting too much attention under the spotlight.
But other than those situations the dupe things of FFXI have always been specific to NPCs and their specific set of items.
I don't know the details but I'm pretty confident this trick in particular was about Aurix, so you could dupe only stuff related to the Aurix NPC in Ru'Lude Gardens.
Hence, mostly related to medals since it's the only sellable thing you can dupe in large quantities from him and then resell on bazaar or AH.

Technically with infinite medals in your inventory, you could trade them to Aurix (regular trade) to get the expensive shards and sell them on the market.
I mean some shards touched 13m for a while on Asura's AH, like RUN's Voidhead.
If I were a duper I would've done that a lot, to avoid the risk of overloading the market with Medals and crashing their price.
...kinda surprised nobody (or not enough people) has done that, because the price of Shards hasn't really crashed on Asura, has it now?
This makes me feel that this dupe trick wasn't really as spread out to as many people and for as long as someone wants to believe.

Anyone could use this exploit, that's why that spenger guy was here just to damage control. The exploit is massive in scope, seriously massive.
But again, this isn't JUST a dupe exploit, this isn't even a dupe exploit, the base of this exploit isn't duping. The scale is as broad as it can be.

Edit - wait, "seriously massive?" Are you telling me hundreds of people have been doing this? What's "massive" to you?
If this has been going on for over two years, and theres TONS of people in on it, that means it's not a few cliques in Linkshells. It's on a grand scale. Is that what I'm supposed to take away from this post?

Duping is part of the exploit, not the main thing about it. Furthermore, medals are only the tip of the iceberg. It gets worse.
The rabbit hole goes deep but at the same time is really shallow. Check previous page and read carefully (not my post).
