Luckily I had a backup but I attempted to use this tool before reading the thread. I am the example of what not to do. I should have read through before using this and just setup a batch file on my own. It is nice that he created this but its much easier to do what CAMB stated. Create the batch and save it to desktop. Done. Please add your fourth post to your OP so this doesn't happen to anyone else or add a readme. I have added the quick guide to the OP. And by "This completely deleted my 4 POL accounts" I Believe you meant your login settings. and not the account. Just for clarification If someone managed to delete thier accounts with my tool they would be a very special breed :D I really don't like to be "that guy" but if the code was posted, I'd be more at-ease. We're talking about a tool that copies your login info here. It very well could be all local, but without the code being public, you're gambling with your accounts.
I'm happy this tool exists, and I wish you luck building it out, for sure. But of all the things we need to be confident with, it's login info. Even if the code uploaded your login.bin to a server somewhere, it couldn't be used for much. I'm pretty sure it is encrypted to only be valid on your PC, and if not, the most you can get out of it is POL ID, POL Password, and SE ID. Iirc you can't save your SE password, if your POL/SE Pw are the same, and the file is usable on a different machine, it could be an issue.
I'm not saying this is the case, but with all that info, and with a program running on the same machine, there very well could also be a keylogger. It's just a very sensitive subject to NOT post the code for.
Honestly if I built this tool, it absolutely would be open source from day one. It's a very touchy subject, and I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet. (I do not believe he is trying to steal account info.) ![]() I've gotten some PM that he link is dead
I stopped playing the game at the end of 2019 due to a divorce. i don't think i currently have access to the source or tool as my gamming rig has not been set up for the last 6 month or so ( ive been plaiyngm ostly master of orion for dos and Civ2) I just by chance peaked in because om at my Ex wife sick and borred as hell. I will check my file sever once I get back and release source and tool. its really just a simply AHK script to copy files back and forth i really hope you all are enjoying the gem FFXI was if have yet to find a decent replacement. Divorces suck... best of luck with that man.
I know I would greatly appreciate it if you could fix the link however possible. Thanks! Cheers Mate! Wow - this popped up in recent posts and I checked and its everyhting i ever dreamed of...will keep an eye out for the revised source and link!
![]() Bumping this with a new version since i got some PM's
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pa_19QF9cMbTtJ1bGX91C0FPWzeI_grR/view?usp=sharing This version is a bit different as its a intermitten "development build" ( fancy worrds there.. it just means im lazy and didn't fininsh it up before posting) once you start it it will ask for you game .exe You can simply select you windower of pol.exe ( or cancel it) then it goes to the menu with the 4 save/restore buttons to save/restore your current settings to/from a profile It will then auto start pol/windows ( if you didnt cancell out before) next version it will save the location to pol/windower so it will only ask once also if people needs more tha 4 profiles aka 16 character login let me know
![]() Google Drive will not allow download.
"This File is infected with virus" "Only the owner is allowed to download infected file" Asura.Kronikx said: » Google Drive will not allow download. Smurf0365 said: » does this work still? tried hit load profile 2 n its not empty Yup. it sounds to me like you have something save in profile 2 so Whenever you load it thats what you get and see in POL I'll add a delete options to cleanup things faster, for people that might have gotten save/load confused thank you
Would renaming save /load to backup/restore make it better to illustrate the process?
backup : backups you current settings in a backup file Restore: restore the old settings from the backup file Delete: Delete the backup file im currently moving all my junk to new drive in my server so it will not be done until the weekend. and im thiking to put in a feature to reset pol size as well as making it double size A new Beta version has been created
- Added a 5th backup slots. for 2 reasons 1: to avoid user thinking they are related to an individual account in side pol 2: this keeps the total accounts up to 20 enough for a full alliance - Added a delete option to delete a specific backup. not sure why it would be needed since you can just backup over it but now its added to help people clean up things - renamed Save/Load to Backup Restore. to hopefully better illustrate the functions, that they backup CURRENT pol information and RESTORE it later when needed - New Pol menu has been added (unfinished) that can reset pol location or make its size exactly twice or four times as big for high res monitors. this is specifically nice for people with an slight "OCDness' about perfect pixel ratio - It no longer ask you to locate the game file at each start and thereby no longer start the game after clicking restore (formerly load). I found the behavior annoying and will fix/tweak it later is this off the 2nd link or??? i don't see a new link?
