So much this. While there are a few people in my life that have legitimately been screwed by "the system", the vast majority who complain about not having enough money either got there because they spend their money as if they have a bottomless well of it somewhere and don't want to do what it takes (e.g. get a degree) to make any more money than they currently do.

everyone that isn't cognizant of the work to money to spending ratio is screwing themselves.

yes evil corporations conned them with shiny things, but they made it easy. there are two parties to a con, the grifter and the mark. if you show up to the three card monty table you are going to get hustled

"they spend their money as if they have a bottomless well of it"

the strength of the american economy is actually because it's one of the few places in the world we have been able to convince people to spend money they don't have on things they don't need.

let that roll around in your nugget a while.

You might have backwards since the trend of people rising to the level of their incompetence is prevalent.

the trick with casinos is they take your cash and they turn it into chips. your brain no longer associates the cash you are losing, you're losing chips. no biggie. it's a game.

Or you’re kinda smart and using it as medium for laundering money and it’s 1980.

it's worded very carefully.

you can appreciate that which you have earned though.

Yeah I got the wording the first go around. Human beings have an intrinsic flaw that manifests internally in forms of insatiable greed and unshakable depression along with external forms such as cyclical redundancies in the forms of bills. Said appreciations are fleeting at best.

You have the carrot (wealth) dangled in front of the horse (the average working American man and woman) on a stick (a job) offered to them/held by a jockey (rich white landed gentry). At some point, the horse is going to wise up, knock the jockey off and steal the stick.

You lost me at carrot.

If I had a carrot I would have no reason to post on FFXIAH. My entire life I've yearned for carrots. In fact as a little boy I asked Santa for carrots. My life for a carrot.

If you understand and accept human nature and realize that greed can't be eliminated but it can be exploited for your own gain....then you've taken the first step on the dark path of evil!!!

harness teh dark powa!!!

King Mad of Angryland

I advise you to take a bath and a xanax.

good...when you're all calmed down let's look at this again.

1) nobody will work very long without some kind of reward.
2) you can't appreciate that which you haven't earned.

Average Joe works 9~5, but he lives a life of american excess like you read about in all the papers. Before long he is buying crap he doesn't need on credit. Sooner or later he's working to make the minimum interest payments on all the debt he has incurred.

That's when rule 1 kicks in and he quits working. Maybe he keeps punching the clock but his bosses notice he isn't doing much and he gets fired and his house is foreclosed on and he declares bankruptcy...etc.

It's not because he is lazy. When there is no reward for his work, after a while the brain just gives up. It's human nature.

Even if the government bails him out through the bankruptcy courts, or he hits the lottery, or he gets an inheritance. It doesn't matter. Rule 2 kicks in and he doesn't appreciate it.

Also known as the curse of windfall income. It's why lottery winners end up broke. Your brain can't appreciate the money because you didn't earn it and Average Joe pisses it all away.

cj doesn't even have a job...and judging from the pics he has posted of himself, he's also never even seen a carrot... wouldn't know what it was if he was beaten half to death with one....or any other vegetable...

if he wants some old guy to ride him around he should try craig's list...and a bag of reese's pieces tied to the end of the stick...or a doughnut
