Increasing item obtainment opportunity "But what does increase mean" - back to not knowing how TH works again.
Increasing the overall drop rate does very little to help get a specific item.
Ask anyone who got 4/5 and then had to do a thousand for the last piece. Or the idiots still trying for a shinryu cloak, lul. It's the better option to stick a kupon in there, and arguably what they should have done about 3 months after any htmb is added. So are we thinking the alabaster items come from temenos and the murky items will come from appollyon
Fenrir.Jinxs said: » So are we thinking the alabaster items come from temenos and the murky items will come from appollyon I find it amusing they added a warning about end of support for Windows 10, when they are never going to do any low level coding to change XI at all and so it's utterly irrelevant.
I'm still 6 boxing on my 10 year old pc with windows 7, nothing they do is going to make 11 not play on your PC with an older OS. If anything at all, windows or Ashita may make changes that make them not work, but Square Enix won't do anything that causes issues with an old OS. If anything the game works better with old operating systems, cause they never update the core game and it was and still is made for those operating systems. It's just a thing they have to do. If you report a bug and you say you're on windows 10 they can just ignore it. They would anyway, but they have a "valid" excuse by saying we dropped support.
Get up to date. I've never bought Windows, you can literally use a command to pull a key down and it show as licensed. Done this for dozens of PCs for 20 years... maybe I will get arrested by the feds one day.
They keep posting how to get AF and Relic upgrades, like wiki sites don't exist or something. Someone is getting paid to write that stuff down again and again on twitter and the forums, cause Fujito obviously keeps asking them to do it.
They seem confused why players are choosing to not engage with it to the higher stages and instead just getting Ody gear, Ambu Gear or Malignance. It's cause for around half of the population of the game it's too long winded, costly and difficult. FFXI is a game that has a very hardcore number of players that will get everything to the cap asap, and another group that are extremely casual or just play solo with trusts to potter around. If it wasn't for mercenaries half the server would be in sparks gear. Fujito carried out a player survey and found out that half of his players are solo, and he still can't understand why they can't clear Vagary alone (even the battlefields) and kill Dyna D bosses (or even do the 100 kill counts over and over) to be working on Limbus upgrades. ilugmat said: » They keep posting how to get AF and Relic upgrades, like wiki sites don't exist or something. Does the JP side not in fact have a good wiki? I havent delved very deep into it beyond ffo.jp wiki but it seemed to have decent info, if a bit awkward to navigate(though that could just be me not knowing japanese), or is it a community thing? NA side basically just throws people at the wiki rather than try to explain stuff ingame, but maybe JP doesnt like going straight to a wiki for answers and would rather interact with others(like its some kind of MMO) I mean it's not like SE have a history of overshooting difficulty levels that they think their player base would perhaps enjoy for the content they put out.
It feels like there is an influx of newer players believe it or not.
From FFXIV possibly Yeah they are currently advertising XI right in the launcher what with the latest tier of the XI alliance raid being added (albeit it's been out for a while now). I have chatted with a few people who expressed interest or have just started out of curiosity. Lot of people still getting filtered by just installing, setting up account, getting controller to work, figuring out the menus, etc. But there are a handful who make it through.
The biggest thing stopping a lot of people from trying though, in my opinion, is that the free trial for XI is very short (and unavailable if you ever briefly played in the past, no matter how short) and you basically have to commit to a sub long before you have any sort of familiarity with the game. I've talked about this with friends before, I think a neat idea could be having up to like level 50, nation Rank 5, and original+RotZ zones only be free. Hell, maybe even 75 cap if you wanna be really radical. Just impose low gil cap limits, AH limitations, lower craft skillcaps until you sub... etc. Basically taking a page from XIV's free trial. I dunno, just spitball thoughts I've had for a while based on comments I read on other areas of the net. I'm sure it would get abused some way or another lol. The setup process for a new player is abysmal
They should make one of the execs go through it without help A better free trial for FFXI would bring in *huge* amounts of people. Most won't stick around long term, but some surely will.
Setting any jokes aside, why haven't they fixed their free trial yet? Fujito answered a free trial question in a recent (relatively) Gamer Escape interview (https://gamerescape.com/2025/07/04/we-asked-producer-yoji-fujito-11-questions-about-the-past-present-and-future-of-final-fantasy-xi/)
"Gamer Escape: Compared to Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI’s free trial is quite limited. Has there been any talk about possibly opening up the FFXI free trial to allow players to have more time with it? Yoji Fujito: That’s something we’ve been considering for some time, seeing as the free trial is currently limited to 14 days and has a level cap. Nowadays, we have Trusts which assist with solo play early on and serve as a good introduction to FFXI. Free trial accounts have always had strict limitations to prevent abuse. While there are some who abuse the system (primarily real-money trading vendors), if we can curb their ability to disrupt the service using the trial, we might be able to consider relaxing the restrictions in the future." So, no plan on changing it right now. It's just a generic excuse followed by boogie man reasoning.
Trial being unable to trade, bazaar and AH eliminates all RMT activities. More time/higher level cap really accomplishes next to nothing. If they let them go full 99, that's free reign to do whatever the *** you want consequence free, so that won't happen. Not really any point to being a level 95 character for a month (+) You can already cheat the 45 day wait. ....I guess you could make a "usable" old dynamis and salvage bot, but that's really pushing usefulness. whoa whoa whoa
how do you cheat the 45 day wait Start a free trial. Log out.
Start actually playing the character 45 days later. Quote: Of those events, we will soon be launching the second session of the event known as The Shadow Lord's Dominion. As part of this event, equipment based on the Shadow Lord's storied weapons will be available as spoils for completing the ★Rank 5 Mission battlefield! Event Period*: Friday, September 26, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Wednesday, October 8, at 7:59 a.m. Asura.Eiryl said: » Start a free trial. Log out. Improving the trial, does nothing for an RMT (unless! They let the character go all the way to 99) Personally, I don't want any dysfunctional zoomer tourists in FFXI. Imagine Asura but it's all servers. I'd rather the game shut down than cede ground to these weird furry weebs.
