Any idea why SE is talking about Sky God pops in yesterday's AMAN?

That whole second hour is memberberries Classic server incoming (it's really not, this is called sarcasm) I mean if we liked being sent back to sea, why wouldn't we like going back to sky
and using other older content as well breathing new life into old expacs Asura.Eiryl said: » They're just being nostalgic That whole second hour is memberberries Classic server incoming (it's really not, this is called sarcasm) I wss just thinking about how sad it is most of the ilvl sky stuff is outdated now. Sky version 3 here we go!

Quote: If this was 20-hour lockout: "ANOTHER THING I HAVE TO DO DAILY" If this was limited to 6 people: "I JUST WANNA PLAY ALLIANCE CONTENT WITH MY FRENZ" If the gear was too strong: "OMG THEY CRAPPED ALL OVER EMPY/ODY R30 WTF" If they made it instanced: "OMG THIS LINE TO GET IN" If they made it timed: "ONE HOUR EVERY DAY GAWDDD" If they added equipment: "GDI SHINRYU DROP RATES" If they didn't separate this into floors and temp items in a non-repeatable fashion: "OMG DA BOTZZZZ" If it gave large exemplar points: "RIP ML CAMPS"/Overrun with bots If they made huge maps and travel time was important: "OMG COR BROKEN" If they made it hard content like V25s: "OMG WHAT ABOUT US CASUALS" If they made it purple, nvm it is purple xD Only 50% joking, but yeah. This content was not going to please everyone, but at least the entrance barrier is practically non-existent, you can make progress on your own terms without needing elite gear, massive time investment, or people to play with, and you can decide for yourself which pieces are "worth" the 2 hour farm time. They even have a built-in catch-up mechanic with rollover weekly points if you missed farming on a given week, meaning you don't have to force yourself to always do it. They made this content based on all the player feedback, and besides the fact that the gear isn't elite, it checks most of the concerns players had. I really don't see what there is to be upset about. 50% joking is a bit generous. Remember when the CoD HTBF came out? People were trying to force others through stages of grief for how bad the battlefield would be. People were literally trying to find reasons why the new HTBF would DoA before it even came out. When CoD released, it turned out to be solid, and all the people catastrophizing it had nothing positive to say. I really don't see what there is to be upset about. There are people who are going to complain no matter what, they are miserable and want to share it with others. I think this is pretty good content, it's something that low man and static groups can do and do at their own pace. Level 130 cap seem a bit lower but I assume they are seeing how it's going before introducing 140/145 as an option. I think the only real valid criticism is that the gear stats were a bit stingy, they shouldn't be super strong but at least a +1~2 stat on everything would be off be nice. It's casual and the rewards are generally meh, but the content itself is fun IMO.
It's short, there's no commitment and you can leave at any time and catch up later. You can order it however you want. You can go in solo or with a group and make progress. You can optimize it insanely but it's easy enough that you can kinda go in with whatever jobs you want, there is no strict meta. If someone *** up it's not going to cost everyone else anything but a few minutes. You can go in with as many people as you want. There are varied mob types, with a few hitting hard enough to keep you on your toes, others less so. The cost of taking someone who is returning or new is generally low and it's a good transition content for them to learn what's expected with higher tier content. It's good content to test group dynamics and improve your macros/sets on jobs you are dialing in without risking everyone else while still earning something. It's reasonably PUG friendly so filling slots in isn't hard and if someone blows it, you aren't gonna lose a lot. It's a hell of a lot better than Sortie, IMO. I realize it's apples and oranges but the way it's structured makes it easier to just do ***with your friends regardless of where they are in the game. I generally don't care about the rewards but being able to group up with some people I haven't played with in ages has been much more valuable to me and I can do it without sitting around wondering how we're gonna fill slots. My only beef is that earning enough points for a full set does seem slow. IMO the chest reward should be higher, but I fully expect as they add onto the content they'll do what they did with Sortie and provide mechanisms for getting more units with the bosses. I'm genuinely confused how just killing piles of trash is fun.
You can go literally anywhere and kill piles of mobs. Dyna. Sheol C. CN_S. Omen. Incursion. Delve. It's just mobs, man, like, there's trying to make the best of it, but christ, to say it's fun, is the hardest core cope. Asura.Eiryl said: » Dyna. Sheol C. CN_S. Omen. Dynamis is on a long-ish timer, can only be done a few times a week, and is timed content requiring a somewhat optimized group (in the sense you aren't just going to wing it with a few trusts and whatever jobs). Most of us have gotten what we need out of Omen and, again, timers / limits on entry. Most people going into Sheol C are going to expect each other to have gear/skill parity, it's also on a timer and entry is limited. Killing stuff for MLs is just not worth it and gets boring fast. It's not the best content ever released. I'm not acting like it is, but the combination flexibility and getting some kind of reward other than EP is a nice change from the other content in the game right now. I also find the aggro mechanics very hilarious. Ovalidal said: » People were trying to force others through stages of grief for how bad the battlefield would be. That was the only pre-release complaint about the CoD HTMB I remember seeing. If there were any other complaints prior to release, please feel free to cite them. the game isn't going anywhere anytime soon because it's the game we love to hate right?

They could place re-skinned Homepoint Crystals throught out the map ...and maybe damaging them brings on the next wave? or bestows a buff/debuff? Bonus points: if this Homepoint Crystal looks destroyed when players kill it. Even the Statue/Time Extension dynamic in old Dynamis, or the Red Eyes/NM gimmick in new Dynamis are interesting. ...I just realized while typing this out, that SE could add a new dynamic at any time. ...it might just be tiered NMs? Who knows? I guess we'll have to wait and see The cloud of darkness fight maxes out at like 3 groups at once though, so it does suck *** though.
Literally tried doing it yesterday and was locked out for 13 entire minutes when there were only five people in the zone total, myself included. That's a pretty valid thing to have issue with. On the smaller servers I have to assume it's still an issue at start of the month when more people login to run it. every bcnm ever has that limit of 3 at a time. worst was when AA HTMB came out and all fights shared those 3 battlefields (mission 1v1s, DM, HTMB 1v1s, DM2).

Personally, i find it fun and challenging enough when soloing (no multi boxing ofc). I think that the limit to 3 trusts works well. I find myself looking for the right spot when pulling, making sure i dont aggro the sh*t out of everything, deciding which mobs to fight and the ones to avoid, and i kinda like also the 2004 trains. I lost about 180k exemplar points in there lol. In group is boring af, but its also true that it takes a third of the time. The Veridical Conflux fights don't, and I dunno why SE solved that problem, then reverted back to the way worse approach after they already worked out a better approach. simply because it was easier not to have to bother, probably.

I'm just glad they put something in that isn't super sweaty Like, love them or hate them, Odyssey and Sortie are two of the sweatiest events they've ever put in this game! We're good on sweaty! I understand that point, I even agree.
It's casual, it's simple, it's not a daily, it's good, there's no congestion, instant repops so there's no douchebaggery. It isn't however, more fun, or more entertaining, or rewarding, or special. It's just killing mobs the same way you have been for 20 years. I like the new event - I died on brd solo (Im *** at ffxi) and made a rdm / war duo friend who then joined me and my friends to climb it again after he saved me from eating temonos tiles.
Now we wave at each other - I see you tmaker~ my new bestie I mean, the whole game's about killing guys, right? How many thousands of hours over the better part of our lives have we devoted to the simple joy of killing FFXI guys, and tweaking our approaches to expedite said killing of said FFXI guys? If you need goofy gimmicks to enjoy killing FFXI guys it really IS time to pack it up
I recommend audiobooks! I like the event - it's just not rewarding enough. I'd like to see better CP and Exemplar Points minimum.
Ability to upgrade our old mission rings would be fitting. They don't have to be on par with TVR rings but maybe TVR -1 or Adoulin tier. Same with WoTG earrings. Same with the In the Name of Science gear and Fotia/Obi's. In its current form - I find myself really not wanting to do it despite it being fine, social and very accessible. +4 gear is not very impressive and I'd like to make other gains while doing my chores. It's nothing too special in its current status, but I do appreciate what they went for. It's good filler content that breaks the norm of the daily sweaty content, allowing you to just *** around with off jobs that you geared but can't really bring anywhere in the current meta, all the while farming EP and progressing toward your +4 upgrades. The EP is actually pretty good if you synch down below 10, so I've found myself coming with lower master jobs level to get them up a bit, even if it means farming tokens a bit slower.
The implementation also not being bot-friendly is a welcome addition, especially on asura. All in all, it's doing what it set up to do very well. It's good catchup content for newcomers (alot of the +4 pieces function as decent replacement for odyssey gear and the like and are just very solid overall, as well as offering new very good accuracy pieces), you can grind it at whatever pace you like, and it's setting up a solid base for future, sweatier additions. The obvious next step would be allowing to bump the trash ilv higher in order to grind different KIs to spawn NMs, but we'll see how they handle it. I do hope it won't take them 6 months to release, though. Virlym said: » The implementation also not being bot-friendly is a welcome addition, especially on asura. But the halved reward is sufficient hinderance as its a significantly worse reward/hr |
