Any Tips For Speeding Up The Update (fresh Install

I just paid 15 bucks to reactivate my character. I did the TehKrizz files and started the update at 7pm est.

It is now 10:20 and Im at 3%. Ive never seen a download take this long in my entire life. At this rate it will be 97hrs until I can play and by then, idk, i could be dead or I wont even want to play.

Ive installed plenty over the years and I know it normally takes up to 6-8 hrs. But 97! Thats *** bannerz, man.

Maybe downloading from here would have been faster?

Yeah i downloaded from playonline just today. that same exact webpage.

I do notie that when I try to do a file check, it wont let me do it with ffxi, its not in the drop down menu. Only pol and tetra.

use tehkrizz's patch rar, just cancel your update, unzip the files into your directory, and start the update again

reduces ~75-80% of the download, it's not fully up to date

I feel your pain. I had to upgrade pcs and my internet kicks me off every 8 hours or so for a minute and then it's fine. The update is taking around 10-11 hours and it never makes it to the end. When you log back in and start it up, it starts all over. Seems a bit ridiculous. You'd think it would have kept all the stuff it downloaded for the last 7 hours or so, but nope.

I downloaded the last two on there, and even still it gave me 3% in 3hrs.

Do I need everyone of those?

I downloaded every one of them and extracted them to the ffxi folder and it still has me at 7 hours to download. Better than the 10-11 it was trying before.

i got some files off a private server website (lost the link, pc crashed, im so sorry) and it reduced it to about 4400 files to download but still going slow as ***. I estimate about 66 hours for me. Idk what the hell is wrong. Its not my internet. I can usually download like 20ish gb in an hour or less so this should be no problem.

Dont get your hopes up yet but I used the Download Accelerator that TehKrizz recommends on his site, and it definitely downloaded more files than Chrome did on its own. And now I can even do the file check first through POL.

I got 16 mins left on the file check then I'm gonna try to update again.

Yeah thats the one. POL is "repairing files" atm. 3 mins. We'll see.

And damn Bart, I remember seeing that same avatar back when I played 6 years ago.

Now its giving me 2.5-9 hrs. 7hrs. Lol. At least it'll be done in the morning hopefully.

yeah, that's what it did for me too. I'm just hoping my internet doesn't reset or whatever it does. Good luck!
