There is no Switch limitations. Wii U played ps3 games like Batman Arkham city, Mass Effect 3, Call of duty black ops 2/Ghost, Assassin's creed 3 & 4.

P.S.
The Switch has double the specs of a Wii U and ps3.

I think this would be a Great Idea. I'd FF11 on the go/TV.

As many controllers as I've broken playing FFXI, I wouldn't want it anywhere near my Switch.

Wont happen. SE not going to invest the money to port it to the Switch. The ROI is not there.

FFXIV sucked on PS3, it had mass latency so that's not really the greatest comparison.

1. FFXI is, regardless of what people say, in it's declining years, there isn't enough interest to pull people from PC to Switch, especially considering that it'd lack Windower and such.

2. FFXIV is discontinuing PS3 support, and adding more to what was already there. I doubt FFXIV will be ported to a system that may only barely play it.

This is a pipe dream, please stop bumping FFXI/FFXIV on Switch threads.

....if you want FFXI on your tv, run an HDMI cord from your graphics card.

The Nintendo Switch is almost as powerful as a based ps4/xbox1.
So that hybrid console is more than capable of running FFXI/XIV.

Also we recent talks from SE of putting it on the Switch.

2GHz CPU[like ps4/xb1]
GPU 1.023TFLOP[close to 1.2's Xb1]

The power is not the issue. It is the ROI. There is none for FFxi since it is in the twilight of its life. There is also very little for FFxiv. The issue that arise from cross platform play is also a issues that I don't see Nintendo playing well with like Microsoft with the Xbone. The Switch is no where near close to the power of a base ps4 or xbone. Get over it the chances of either making it to the switch are 0 to nothing.

Guess we'll just have to wait for E3, but looks like other ppl excited to see FF15, KH, etc on the Switch according to the 200+ comments on the below link.

Just because the Switch can run XV doesn't mean it can run XIV. XIV is an MMO, XV isn't.

XV and KH are plausible. XIV is unlikely, XI won't happen.

I see this was originally posted many years back, but honestly would still kill to have this happen xD. Idk how you ever broke controllers playing FFXI, I played for nearly 10 years on an xbox 360 controller and crappy usb keyboard xD. Seriously tho someone should code this, unlike the OG the Switch 2 is actually fully compatable with usb mice and keyboards, atleast in relation to 3rd part games. Don't think it works for 1st party titles sadly.

The Steam Deck is the Portable FFXI machine.

Square Enix are too stupid to ever do anything like this, the company is so massively out of touch with their audience or reality.

They don't get that almost all of their fanbase is 30+, they don't get pandering to nostalgia would work for them (especially in Japan, where XI has respect similar to Everquest in the west), they don't get that it would be cheap to do this and it would not only be successful but would increase revenue in subs for the next 10 years for XI/XIV (XI is part of XIV operations, so increase in revenue would show as XIV revenue boost).

They will spends hundreds of millions of dollars on trash ideas that flop instantly, but not spend 1/100th on something like this.
