Hey I know this might be a moot point by now, but I can't seem to find any info on how to begin augmenting gear, what gear I CAN augment and where do I do it. Looking for a little help, where do I begin? Oh and I already have 4kish in tabs from leveling. So after tab collection, where do I move from here?

Thank you

After getting lots of Tabs...pick the equip you want to aug... (it cant be r/ex or stackable)
after picking the equip you pick a zone with the right level and go there...talk to the book and pick Elite training...pick the chapter then find the field parchment...trade the item and fight.

So when you say "right level" what does that mean? like say I wanted to augment a stun katana, what area would that be? and an example for dusk gloves? Just having a little trouble with the level correspondence.

dusk gloves are level 72.
so you'd have to pick the last chapter and go to Valley of Sorrows or Sky.
I dont remember what level stun katana's are but I think they are also level 70+ so they'd have to be the same thing.

Ok, so now if lets say the item is 33, I go to the level 33 page range? And will I get level capped when I enter the fight? and are there any you can solo? I guess just read each of the testimonials of the battles lol. Thanks for all the info and help man

Yeah, you go to the level 35 zone like Rolan and pick the chapter 3.
you get under the effect of level sync or whatever it was...but you stay your level (75) and can just 1shot alot of the weaker nms.
and for most of them they are soleable. just double check

you can augment like a lvl 33 augment at a lvl 75 chapter i think. Some people think it may get a better augment at a higher chapter

Tends to be true. I haven't seen any worthwhile stats on the old ones 50 and below I think. Mostly lots of resist -stats and such

Thats why you do it on cheap stuff. Even cheap stuff can become really really good with a nice augment on it. Like the 6int weskits that blow any and everything way way out of the water

When the Augment Update came into the game, i asked a GM "How do i Augment my items?". He went AFK for a while to ask other GM's and after about 10 mins he came back, with this response: "Wait a few hours a check some online websites, they will have some information by then." i call that an SE fail when their GM's don't know eff all about the game >.>

I'm pretty sure that he said that because he's not allowed to give you that information, how obvious it may be.

You should get it back without augment I think but there is always the risk that they won't be able to do it. It might be hard after that to get an item recovery again. I would not do it for an agi-1.

SH+1 isn't that rare anymore: you can get it for under 700K easily, that isn't the case of many end-game pieces where you need many ppls and lot of work, or things like kraken club that is worth 30+ Mil on lot of servers.

But if your SH+1 is precious to you, so precious you'd need your 1-time recovery to get it back to normal if augment scrap it, then don't try to augment it.
It's a gamble: don't risk things you can't allow yourself to lose.

its just the whole point that i went the extra mile to get HQ and then the augment basically ruined it... now it's either buy another or use my 1-time recovery that i havent used since 2004... not like i really needed it...

1-time recovery is made for situations you CAN'T plan in advance (droping items by accident, getting account/item stolen) ... usualy to recover your most precious item.
I'm deceived to see that someone who have hope torque and anwig salade consider a SH+1 as their most precious item.

You should consider farming materials yourself as an option instead of relying on 1-time recovery.
(side note: keeping it is another options. yes, it's worse then normal HQ, but still better then NQ. can at least keep it while farming items/gil to get HQ back)

I suppose you're trying to give me SE's view on it, sure... didn't think there were rules to the recovery thing. Regardless of what the item was, I was under the impression that I could drop a piece of hare meat and have it recovered if I had never used the service before.
As for me, I don't want to have to drop another 700k that I don't have just to fix what FoV's silly augments have broken, when I could use this card instead.
What other items I have shouldnt even be taken into account when I ask for a recovery. Why you decided to research my character and attack me here is beyond my comprehension... O_o

My point : if you ever drop one item (exemple: hope torque or another precious item you have) by accident, you'll be glad to not have used that trump card that is the 1-time recovery

Do it if you want to and it will probably work. But if one day you lose any other item that might be harder to get back than a sharness+1 you might regret it. That's all he's saying.

Did you really went to augment your sharness+1 thinking "oh well if I get a bad augment I will just use my 1 time item recovery?" or you just did not expect to get something bad like most people get?

ok, so what I'm understanding is, you can augment a lower lvl item @ the high tier areas?

Yes, you can upgrade a lowerl lv item at high tier area.
It do cost more tabs to do that (instead of going to the place where level is closer to item level).
Some ppls beleive augments are better at hier tier area, but it's hard to prove it now, mainly because augments are totaly random.

S/E really needs to put something in game to remove augments. I've seen people completely screwed over with an augment that is nothing but negative stats. They can't honestly put that in the game an say "too bad, buy another one and try again." and expect it to go over anything but badly.

Casino owners really need to put a couple of Deloreans in front of Casinos so people can go back in the future when they lose all of their paycheck on a slot machine! Right? lol

It's a gamble, if you don't wanna risk to destroy an item then don't try, as simple as that! ^^

im goin to asumme that SE made this augmented item thing to make NQ gear a bit better. not to make your HQ gear worse. its not intended to put up a cerb mantle +1 or dusk gloves +1 up. why people would want to risk that is beyond me. that white box around your HQ means its already better than the original. why would you spend the extra money for they white box to make it worse?

What if you have extra money :p .? Not to mention that some HQ items worth less than NQ ones so :<
