Mobile games are extremely popular in japan. Final Fantasy Grandmasters (A FFXI Spin of series), is very popular, although it has very little to do with actual FFXI. It doesnt even play like FFXI.

It's 100% aimed at Japanese players and the Japanese fan-base.

All these hate lol. Ever since this game was announced we should already know this game will not be the same game as FFXI, more like a modern mobile mmo with ffxi skin.


But just like FFXIV, any mmo associated with FF released after FFXI gets hate from FFXI playerbase.

That's what I think too, assuming they keep the geography the same. would make me mad if they changed maps, etc =/

I think a few details will be changed. If the game is setup as a sequel or something then stalls may be moved and whatnot. I dunno. :/

Anyway, I'm excited to see how this turns out. In the end I can just run it on Bluestack and pretend it's FFXI on PC. :)

At the very least 14 can't claim '11 hate syndrome' when it is so much easier to get tired of it than the other. There is certainly a "waiting for the next 14 update" vacation routine where as it doesn't go the other way around.


What I meant was, I believe many ffxi Players hate ffxiv because they think SE gave 14 all the development resource and let FFXI rot in hell.

Then SE announced FFXI mobile AND stopping major update after 2015 Nov, FFXI mobile gets all the hate as well. Because it seems as if SE abandoned FFXI for this mobile project.

This is not true, a lot of XIV haters have played XIV. It's just too much like WOW and most of the long time FFXI players weren't looking for a wow clone mmo.

XIV is a good game as a wow clone. It just gets hate from people despise wow clones, like how ffxi mobile gets hate from people despise mobile mmo.

Overall all these hate came from players with biased opinion toward certain type of mmo. A wow clone hater will hate xiv no matter how good it is, like mobile mmo hater will hate ffxi mobile even if it turns out to be a solid title.
