Just trying to find some basic information for a friend. I know the game has changed in the past several years, and we were going to level new characters up together since he coming back to the game.

Wanted to know places we can level up at. I do have access to most the trusts, so it should be moderately easy. But I don't want to completely take him to Escha and leech him to 99. I wanna be fun about it.

Any insight would be awesome. Thank you. =)

When i leveled my mule I just followed the normal path to qufim stayed there till Exp got slow then went to beaucedine glacier till about 50 then fei'yin till about 60ish and finished with pages in that place I never remember under the chateau in sandy. Could also do lesser colibri in the Woodlands I then capped merits on the higher level colibri but I was keeping my mule at 75 rather than taking her to 99+.

Honest answer: The fun of leveling progressively dies out very quickly once you realize that it would still take you so long for today's standards. If you can PL him to 99, just do it by all means.

Otherwise, you can use (grounds tome objectives) and your RoE objectives to pick camps that would let you gain extra xp from both sources as much as possible. You will be changing camps so many times that way, but that might be just what you are looking for.

I used this. I did go to a few different places, like Gustaburg since I'm with Bastok and the jungles instead of Delkfutts's. I was doing 1-50 in a few hours with just the three starting trusts on a new character when I leveled up subs. Past 50 I believe I went to the cape until 70, then Zeruhn until 80? Then wadi until 90/95(?) then finished in Gustav.

I may have some of the levels wrong, I did this months ago and don't remember it all that well. I'm sure others have their methods, I kept to VT/ITs and treated it like an old school exp party. Might have been slower than some other methods but I had fun and enjoyed leveling.

I recently leveled my MNK from 1-99 for no reason at all. I'm Bastokan so started off in Gustaberg, slowly made my way to Wadi. Once exp got slow on Crabs/Gobs in Wadi, jumped to Qufim. Once the pugils in Qufim give hardly any exp, I head towards Garlaige Citadel and kill things on the way in Sauromugue.

I use five trusts, RoE objectives, EXP rings etc, so the moment you can go to certain camps depends. Also it's best to solo your exp if you can summon five trusts .. otherwise you could duo with three/four trusts. After Bats/Beetles exp slows down in Garlaige, it's time for Altepa desert. Outpost is good, but the goblins might be a little strong at first. You can level up to 50ish (subjob level) at that camp, and use FoV page. (Gobs and Manticore)

After 50 you could either head to Quicksands caves or Kuftal Tunnel. I tend to travel to Western Altepa Desert (for the adventure) and make my way south west across the map, and enter Quicksands caves at the bottom left entrance (have to go off the map, and through a tunnel to get to it), and fight stuff in the cave for a bit. Once exp slows down, you should be strong enough to do bunnys/lizards page in Cape Terrigan (outpost).

When EXP slows, I go to Garlaige Citdael one more time, and drop down the hole for the stronger bats/beetles. After this camp you should be level 70-75ish (hard to remember exact levels, camps don't last long), so you can go to Zeruhn Mines and fly up to 80+ doing GoV, killing worms and bats. Will be slow at first (especially the bats), so just keep at it and eventually they will be squishy. After watching my Dad level all his jobs to 99 lately (solo), I told him about doing Mandys in Ceizak Battlegrounds as early as level 85-90. He started doing them at 80 on some jobs; they are exceptionally weak, give tons of EXP, and Ionis helps a lot.

From there you should be able to solo to 99 in Ceizak. Perhaps do some reives for bayld (if you got the "Logging" key item), and get some RoE objectives done at the same time. Soloing for EXP is very easy nowadays, and if you already have five trusts, rings, limit break quests done, and all the rest, you can solo 1-99 in 4 hours or so? Takes me a day or two, with on-and-off leveling; I ain't hardcore like some, I need breaks! Still, you should be moving from camp-to-camp fairly quickly. 1-99 shouldn't take longer than a few days of casual battling.

And someone said to PL? Wow, you never see anyone PL these days. Trusts are so awesome you don't need a PL. If someone needs a PL they either suck, or are too lazy to get a WHM trust. You don't need the greatest equipment either, just keep ya weapon and defense updated when possible. Sparks can buy you weapons, so you don't even need to farm gil to level. Don't forget to get in to a Unity as well. There's also no need for Aht Urhgan, WotG Campaign, Abyssea, or Escha camps; old areas rule! Don't forget Signet. :)

So to simplify, from my POV. Gustaberg > Wadi > Qufim > Sauromugue > Garlaige > East Altep OP > West Altep > Quicksands > Cape Terrigan > Garlaige (down the hole) > Zeruhn Mines > Ceizak.

If the goal of the two of you is just for him to get to 99, leech him up.

Else for the most part, forget about leveling. Instead do missions, all of them based on what level the enemies are along the way. Think of the game as a 2 player RPG. The expansion missions are the main story of the game. If the next boss is too hard, chances are enemies nearby will be enough for you to progress to the point that it isn't too hard.

Well, at least until he hits 99 at which point it's time for some end game to get strong enough gear to finish the different missions.
(I couldn't beat SoA like a solo RPG but I did RoV)

Have some fun with that aspect of the game, before the two of you get bogged down in endgame so much that reading the cutscenes is too much of a timesink when you could be fighting more NMs (IE standing in jeuno/adoulin/norg).

EDIT:
I must not have worded it correctly. I meant to suggest you wander around vanadiel killing whatever is in your way while doing missions.
You should naturally get levels since ... exp is worlds faster than before.

Me and my friend actually enjoy most if not all aspects of the game besides the waiting to do things due to lack of people.

I don't really want to do what you're suggesting, and poop all over his and I's idea of taking it slow, and leveling up. We are in no rush. We've done most things in the game. But, he is making a new account. So we want to enjoy the game for what it is. Not just "Rush to 99omgwftbbq!" ^^;
