Back in 2012, someone sent me a list of MCR (macro files) for FFXI and it tuned out to be, the most complicated Scholar macros I've ever seen.

It included, ever single book (10) time (CTRL0-9 and ALT0-9) of just SCH macros.

It including swapping and even /party commands too.

It had switching of books to go from Book 1 to Book 10 when needed.

Does anyone still FFXI like this? I like the idea of using macros as efficiently as possible. Is there a guide for it?

Thank you!

I think a lot of people use Spellcast or Gearswap or whatever in lieu of traditional FFXI macros for situational events. As a basic example, I think you can script it to allow elemental capes/waists to be equipped depending on the elemental day without you having to manually enter a "Fire V on Firesday" macro

Spellcast/Gearswap/whatever the name is nowadays maintains the complexity of what you've described (you still need to code each of these situations) but removes the burden from you to actually hit the correct macros. From my understanding, using those tools just merge all of the conditional "Fire V in X scenario" macros into a general "Fire V" macro which makes it easier to hit macros in real time which is cool

The only real macros I use are for SCH to swap between arts and use the strategems. In dark arts, single pressing Alt-2 on my macro book puts me in light arts, double press puts me in addendum white. CTRL2 for dark arts and addendum black.

For spells I just use shortcuts addon that I customized for a lot of my needs. For any elemental spell I justtype the first letter and the tier number to cast. i.e. /f4 casts fire IV on my target. /iono2 casts ionohelix2. /t casts thunder.
