SCH solo skillchain help
I am looking for some help with a comprehensive list of spells to make each elemental skillchain using Immanence. I know the scholar guide has a few examples but what are some good combos for the rest? Thanks!
Go here:
http://ffxiclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Skillchains Look at the box with the level 1 and 2 Skillchains. It has neat little colored boxes for the elements. Just to save some time, here is list I just made up. I also abuse Staff WS's to save Stratagems. Happy Scholaring!
Fire *Stone > Fire = Liquefaction *Thunder > Fire = Liquefaction Fire > Thunder = Fusion Full Swing > Thunder = Fusion **Rock Crusher > Fire = Liquefaction Ice *Water > Blizzard = Induration Water > Shattersoul = Induration Luminohelix > Stone = Distortion Retribution > Blizzard = Induration **Omniscience > Stone = Distortion **Starburst > Blizzard = Induration Wind *Stone > Aero = Detonation *Thunder > Aero = Detonation Noctohelix > Aero = Detonation Blizzard > Water = Fragmentation Shattersoul > Water = Fragmentation **Rock Crusher > Aero = Detonation Earth *Fire > Stone = Scission *Aero > Stone = Scission Aero > Noctohelix = Gravitation Shell Crusher > Stone = Scission Thunder *Water > Thunder = Impaction *Blizzard > Thunder = Impaction Blizzard > Water = Fragmentation Retribution > Thunder = Impaction Shattersoul > Water = Fragmentation *Shattersoul > Thunder = Impaction **Starburst > Thunder = Impaction Water *Stone > Water = Reverberation Luminohelix > Stone = Distortion Luminohelix > Water = Reverberation **Omniscience > Water = Reverberation Light *Fire > Thunder = Fusion Full Swing > Thunder = Fusion Dark *Aero > Noctohelix = Gravitation Blizzard > Noctohelix = Compression Shattersoul > Noctohelix = Compression Basic Scholar Light and Dark Skillchains * Indicates which skillchains I personally use the most ** Skillchains I use the most with magical weapon skills to never miss As a rule of thumb you want to avoid any skillchain with a helix in it to keep your existing one ticking.
For example if you want to MB stone rather use: Aero > Stone = Scission than Aero > Noctohelix = Gravitation Haven't revised it since I made it months ago. woops
Impossible to make Darkness or Light in any way? 3 step?
SCH cannot close Light or Darkness, because you'd need a L2+ property "WS" to do that, of which SCH has none via Immanence.
You can make Distortion with Immanence and close Darkness with Retribution/Omniscience/Shattersoul though... Light would require a Club, closing with Realmrazer or Black Halo. So Distortion > Retribution/Omniscience/Shattersoul = Darkness
and Fusion or Fragmentation? > Realmrazer/Black Halo Edit: Fragmentation > Realmrazer = Light Fusion > Black Halo = Light thx One last question.
I wouldn't even need to use another Stratagem after completing Distortion huh? Just follow up w/ the correct WS and Darkness should arrive I imagine. No, you don't need a strategem to SC with a WS >_>;
Basic Scholar Light and Dark Skillchains
Dark Skill Chain (Staff) Immanence > Luminohelix > Immanence > Stone > Omniscience Light Skill Chain (Club) Immanence > Fire > Immanence > Thunder > Black Halo if you want to Ebullience/MB yourself (if you have the strats to do so), you need to... Dark Skill Chain (Staff) Immanence > Luminohelix > Immanence > Stone > Alacrity > Ebullience > Omniscience > Stone X/Water X/Blizzard X/Kaustra Light Skill Chain (Club) Immanence > Fire > Immanence > Thunder > Alacrity > Ebullience > Black Halo > Aero X/Fire X/Thunder X Assuming you have a PLD doing something. Easier than melee SCH.
Gravitation > Chant du Cygne = Darkness Fragmentation > Atonement = Light or Fusion > Savage Blade = Light ![]() Atonement - Thunder also makes Impaction to save strats,
I've been looking for SCs to make with a RUN, any ideas? For greatsword, I've got a few options depending on the element I want to burst:
Dimidiation > Dimidiation = Light Dim/GS/Res/Spin > Ground Strike = Distortion Herculean Slash > Resolution = Scission When working with a SCH, good options include: Herc > Water = Fragmentation Ice > Shockwave = Fragmentation Fire > Herc = Fusion (don't use on Perf/Plouton though) Power Slash > Stone = Distortion Luminohelix > Resolution = Distortion SCH makes Fusion > Dim/GS/Res/Spin > Dimidiation = Double Light Ground Strike > Omniscience = Darkness Greatsword doesn't have any Compression or Grav, and the only way to make Gravitation when incorporating a RUN would require either extra WSs/Strategems or that the RUN use a 1-handed sword or something. Could do Res > Herc > Noctohelix for Gravitation if the RUN has enough TP gain to self-SC or Sekkanokki. Cool thanks, was CPing earlier today and couldn't find a combo to burst Thunder, didn't look very hard though. :p

Also, if anyone wants to build on this and posts SCH skillchains with other weapons like how Jeanpaul posted, I would really appreciate it and maybe the community would too. Don't really have the time this week to test any since midterms .-. Edit: Mostly interested in skillchains where SCH performs one of the "ws"s since I personally don't do too much content where the DD Tank can solo skillchain. Edit: Mostly interested in skillchains where SCH performs one of the "ws"s since I personally don't do too much content where the DD Tank can solo skillchain. Well, if you've got a PLD tanking (and using Sword), you could do: Blizzard > Atonement = Fragmentation (Wind/Lightning) Savage Blade > Water = Reverberation (Water) Savage Blade > Fire = Liquefaction (Fire) Blizzard > Vorpal Blade/Circle Blade/Flat Blade = Impaction (Lightning) Fire > Circle Blade/Flat Blade = Fusion (Fire/Light) These get less ideal the further down you go, but if you need it, you can do it. Also, I'm assuming that you want to only use a single strat on the SCH, combined with a single WS from a melee. There's pretty nearly infinite options depending on which weapon you're using, so if there's a particular weapon you are thinking about, that'd make it easier. Also, depends how much of the WSer's damage you're willing to sacrifice in order to get the SC you're looking for. Like some of those above, using Flat Blade isn't exactly going to do much, but if you just want the SC, it works. Edit: dunno if people still use NIN tanks, but Katana is quite versatile, and combined with a SCH, you can make some SCs that are normally annoying (require helixes) Blade: Ku/Blade: Chi/Blade: Rin > Stone = Distortion Aero > Blade: Kamu/Blade: Ei = Gravitation Fire > Blade: Shun/Blade: Jin/Blade: Chi = Fusion Blizzard > Blade: Yu/Blade: Teki = Fragmentation Blade: To > Water = Fragmentation Blade: Kamu/Blade: Ei > Aero = Detonation Blade: Jin > Stone = Scission Blade: Shun > Fire = Liquefaction Double Edit: Katana really has loads of options actually, opening or closing. There's way more than I listed here if you want to be creative, but it's got a lot of different options. Only downside is it doesn't have a good way to open for a SCH to close Fusion with Thunder. The NIN could close Fusion easily, or you can make Liquefaction with NIN opening. The main weapons I'm looking to SC with are Sword, Great Sword, Katana, and Dagger since I mostly play w/ PLDs, NINs, and THFs. However, I wouldn't mind a list for other weapons just to archive for future reference. I personally prefer SCs such as Savage Blade > Water where the SCH ends the skillchain since it'd be easier for me to pay attention to the opening SC vs the tank who may be busy staying alive. Again, I don't mind having a list where the non-SCH ends the skillchain since it has the benefit of me being able to easily MBing with a T5 & T4 versus me only able to MB T5 & T3 when I end the skillchain. Skillchain damage isn't a big deal imo since majority of the damage comes from the MBs following.
Edit: I'm also looking for SCs with SMN Blood Pact: Rages. Also, two skillchains of each element where the SCH opens (Skillchain #1) or ends (Skillchain #2) is great enough for me. If you can find lvl 2 SCs to cover two elements, that's fine. It's a bit much to ask the community, but I appreciate any information added. Back to studying for midterms .-.! Edit: Also, I definitely recommend having a Skillchain Chart handy. They don't seem to have been updated since the Dynamis days, but still can be useful for the WSes that are on there. So, I don't know if these are still accurate, maybe someone who actually plays or plays with a SMN can double check these, but going by the chart here's some possibilities:
Punch(I) > Thunder = Fusion Aero > Camisado(D)/Moonlit Charge(F)/Double Punch(I) = Gravitation Poison Nails(C)/Crescent Fang(F) > Stone = Distortion Axe Kick(S)/Megalith Throw(T) > Water = Fragmentation Barracude Dive(L)/Rock Buster(T) > Blizzard = Induration Barracude Dive(L)/Rock Buster(T) > Thunder = Impaction Rock Throw(T)/Double Slap(S) > Aero = Detonation Rock Throw(T)/Double Slap(S) > Fire = Liquefaction Rock Throw(T)/Double Slap(S) > Water = Reverberation Aero/Fire > Rock Throw(T)/Double Slap(S) = Scission Fire > Shock Strike(R)/Burning Strike(I) = Fusion Again, no guarantee on these, but they might work :p Speaking of skillchain charts, some guy made a website with Skillchain options, which was up to date until Abyssea I think, if someone remembers the url or something it'd be appreciated.
What did it do? I can just replicate that, I guess.
I made this very rough draft of a "website with Skillchain options": http://huydinh.eu/ffxi/skillchains
Basically, it's complete. As in it knows about the rules to make Skillchains and applying them. The database just lacks a majority of weapon skills, but that will be fixed once I've run through the Windower resource files. It lacks sexy design and even though I had some ideas on how the UI should/might look like, I haven't had time for that yet. You know, filters etc. So for now, it only lists all possible WSs going from one group of WSs to another group of WSs. If you find something that's wrong or if you have ideas on how to make this little tool nicer, feel free to poke me. Maybe include something like a color or symbol to cover which WSs are relic or mythic based? Also maybe something to mark elemental WSs since they can't miss. Other than that, it looks like it's working right, except that WSs that can continuously self-SC are not being listed that way.
Example: Dancing Edge > Dancing Edge makes Detonation, another Dancing Edge will make Scission, and another DE makes another Detonation, and so on. edit: I never noticed before, but Aeolian Edge and Immanence can cover every SC element. Neat! Light > Aeolian = Distortion Fire > Aeolian = Fusion Aeolian > Dark = Gravitation Ice or Water > Aeolian = Impaction Dark or Earth or Lightning > Aeolian = Detonation Yeah, for now it's assuming a target devoid of SC properties laid on it, which means that thing shows the first and second step of a 2-step WS only. Which also means that Dancing Edge > Dancing Edge can be found in Detonation, but not Scission, because when starting from a blank slate, Dancing Edge > Dancing Edge does not make Scission.
I don't know how to actually represent that kind of behaviour without possibly creating super long pages. That's subject for additional functionality like filters, I think. Offering something like "Assume the target has been WS'd and is subject to a SC" more likely is going to confuse people. Verda said: » Hey Skudo question, in that video you said the log just messes up order sometimes... but is it possible to use immanence after you start casting and have it take effect? lol If so that's very clever. It is not; you cannot activate JAs mid-cast. The "Person used Job Ability" message will usually show after the animation is done, whereas the "Person starts casting Spell" will appear as soon as they begin to cast. In this case, he's casting his spell before the Immanence animation is finished, so they appear out of sequence in the log.
