What Are You Doing Now In Game?

There's so much to do not sure why you don't go and do it.

I log on, main goal work on shanttoto acension quest for the beast master legs. During this time when things happen like skirmish wildskeeper shouts i join them. Need to make Gil to augment mab and pdt for pet. After that's done need to farm cap points for beast master so ready timer can go from 15 to 10 secs.

After that's done need to get blue Mage to 99 then farm spells. Currently leveling blue Mage with coalition quests. After that's done maybe gear scholar and more cap points.

After that's done maybe do some mythic. Only lazy/undedicated people OR people who play the game 24/7 can log in the game and be bored.

Finishing my SCH mythic tonight. Once its 119, i'll be going for perfct augments on Helios for a normal set and magic burst set, as well telchine sets with max regen potency/duration, and max enhancing magic duration, and adjust my cure potency to be maxed out

Run only needs the mythic to tank. I said DPS wise Macbain helps. Content is too easy to complain about most jobs...idk I dont see a problem with RUN.

Idk lol RUN works for everything we do. May not be the "practical" job for most things but it can work. And thags good enough for me.

But to get back to the topic without debating thats all good loving the enthusiasm.

The LS is farming the elusive pulse bodies in escha - which means I spend a lot of time farming silt, fishing duskcrawlers, and forgetting to check grimslights. I've also been spending a fair amount of time in meebles trying to get phantom worms for that table.

Refining the art of PUP tanking.

Not everyone is jumping on the BST wagon, not everyone wants or needs to lvl other jobs and gear them, and not everyone finds it fun to grind out mythic weapons. Just because there is something to do, doesn't mean it's fun nor worth it; I mean hey, brb Garrison because it's one of the many pointless and/or boring things to do at this point but if I don't do it I'll be accused of being lazy.

Grinding for the sake of grinding is not fun, and last time I checked, but hey I could be wrong, people played this, and games in general, to have fun.

Don't really have the best leg to stand on when discussing things that are "worth it" if you dedicate all of your play time to 75 content. You're more than welcome to participate in and enjoy any content you want. I agree with you that not everyone enjoys the same things, but an argument based around worth is fairly flawed.

How is progressing your character not fun? Not sure exactly what you are looking for then, theres grind in ANY MMO that you will play. Also why turn this thread negative? I swear its the same handful of people shitting up XI threads yet nothing is done.

The main thing I am addressing here is to do that which you find fun, not have some FFXI-zealot d-bag shine you on their way of fun, and call you lazy and undedicated for not doing so.

Seriously. I still enjoy going and kicking the ***out of Limbus for fun. I haven't needed anything from there in years, it's just nice to run amok in there and crush things.

If people are shitting up threads, let me know. His point is valid though; one of the beautiful things about XI is that there's so many ways to enjoy it; chasing the bleeding edge of gear isn't the only way to have fun with it.

Seriously the most boring content they've put out in a long time. Even Incursion wasn't as boring. It was frustrating, but not boring.

Word. What I want, more than anything else, is a true Limbus II: timed, floors, actual mechanics. Low mannable if you're good enough, but you can take an army if you've got one.

Escha is better now that silt is more farmable. In a lot of ways it reminds me of the zeni system and some of the gear is well worth getting if you want to do 135+ content.

Escha (so far), Vagary, and Incursion have been misses for me. I have more than enough to do in-game but I do worry that the majority of recent content has been very uninspired.

Not sure if I hate silt farming or columns more.

If there are people on the LS, maybe take some initiative and suggest a specific activity instead of just waiting on other people to decide what to do. Skirmish? High tier fights? Get an etched memory farm or CP party going? The guy who just hops on to the LS to say "anything going on tonight" usually got ignored even in the busiest times of the game, not surprising that's still true in 2015.

Personally, I've been doing:

LS activities: Vagary a couple nights a week with the LS. Occasionally oddball stuff like Incursion, DM, getting some people who missed the VW era clears so we can go see Prov. Watcher for fun.

Solo/small group times: been doing UNM, high tier fights, and CP farming. I've really gotten into solo high tiers, though losing the double exp campaign this month slows me down a little bit from spamming 4+ fights then refilling 45 merits. Still want to do the last update's Adoulin quests concluding those lore questlines and getting the rewards, will prob hit those this week.

Long term quest: After finishing up Kenkonken earlier this year, instead of grinding another mythic I decided to get 100% reforge+1 AF/Relic/Empy for my 10 maintained jobs (will prob expand that to the mule WHM+BLM too). Currently 50/50 119 relic, something like 38/50 AF, and a lot lower Empy. Been having a really good time working toward that long term goal. Chapters are my big roadblock, I already have all the upgrade materials I need. So I've been doing any high tier fights I can get, and still have some 109 empys to finish up because of empy NM trophy drops I never bothered to get.

Haven't even gotten to: Escha. Barely touched it, though I'd like to start doing it soon. I imagine the LS will transition into it fairly soon, getting started in earnest with phase 2 from the next Rhapsodies update.

Job wise:
My NIN and RUN, and to a lesser extent PUP, have taken up the majority of my attention. Haven't even had time to get back to BLU and farm my new spells since the last update, but I'll do that too.

Apparently RUN is a trend on this thread, and I'm on board. RUN is quite good for a lot of stuff now, particularly (1) high tier avatar fights and (2) a lot of Unity NMs - both things that I've spent a lot of time on in June and July. Arguably better than a good PLD for avatars, since single element magic damage is so perfectly tailored to RUN's strengths. Personally, I don't often use it in most LS alliance content like Vagary or Incursion though, since we have a good mythic PLD as main tank and I tend to DD.

I've played RUN since day 1 and it did kinda suck on most stuff (notable exceptions of WKR and Marjami/Kamihr Delve)... prior to the enmity system changes and the AMAZING Empyrean reforge set (I say RUN got the best set of any job). Now it's a very viable tank, if you have decent gear (and no, you don't need mythic weapon for that - if by that the comment meant Epeolatry). Yeah, you can toss on a DD set and a Macbain or something and do decent damage (great for your CP farming, low tier "bring whatever" events, etc.) - but the job was never designed to be a top DD, so you shouldn't be surprised to be getting destroyed on a parse by a SAM, BLU, NIN, DNC, etc. I'm aware that people who just play the job like it's a gimpy DD do sometimes make it look bad, but that's more an issue of not using the job for what it's good at.
