Is it possible to copy all the macros I have saved on my main character to a mule without anything messing up?

I've found the User folder for my main character just so I didn't have to remake them all I thought I'd ask.

Macros are saved client-side so hypothetically you should be able to copy them to another char. let me see if i can find something

EDIT: So I'm pretty sure that every folder inside USER is one of your characters. Thus, each of those files in each folder corresponds to some client-side saved data.

This is still speculatory, and don't try this yet, but if you wanted to completely replace the mule's macros with your main's, you'd just replace the mcr.dat or mcr.sys files in your mule's folder.

But if you wanted to merge, it would be a lot lot harder.

Just looking to replace, so I can also play COR on that one without remaking macros.

Would you say it's a safe bet to replace both of them or just the .dat one?

So apparently each macro book (and possibly CTRL vs ALT macros) are saved in different files. So for example, mcr10.dat has my Dancer CTRL macros. (I found the plaintext "/ja "Spectral Jig" <me>" lol)

You'll probably want to copy over all files with the scheme "mcr"

but I wouldn't recommend trying it without backing up the entire folder, there might be game engine corruption issues.

If you do want to try, definitely save your macros to the server first. (Because at very worst, tampering with files might mean needing to reinstall the POL client)

EDIT: I actually don't think you'll encounter any serious problems, but who really understands SE?

While I always recommend backing things up before you do anything, it really isn't a problem to simply copy the entire folder for your main char and then rename that copy to your mule. The user folder contains macros, game settings and other such data so chances are if you had those settings on your main they'd be fine on your mule too but of course that depends on how you have it set up.

Just note that you need to be logged off to change macros(at the least at the character select screen. If you change the macro files, then log off all your changes are overwritten. Though if you change them and then crash your games, it won't be, just like when you make a internal change and crash you lose those macro changes.

If the mule is on the same account you can. You can save a characters macros to the server by holding alt Ctrl tab b while on the character on the select screen. Then move to the mule and hit alt Ctrl tab r to overwrite them there. This was originally added so you could move macros between PC/ps2/360/etc, but it should work in this way also since it only saves the macros of 1 character on the account.
