With the end slowly creeping into the heart of FFXI, I figure I would share a few of my favorite moments here and would like to hear yours as well (I will be pouring my whole heart out to this. WARNING: Have tissues with you):

1.) Dynamis, Absolute Virtue, Divine Might, Pandamonium Warden, etc were my memorable moments I have experienced throughout the game. The struggles, the blood-shed, and shaking will never be replaced with the 99 cap and 119 armor/weapons. I will never forget the joy and happiness I felt. This will never leave me.

2.) I have never felt the true accomplishment of obtaining a R/E/M or a DRing, but I am sure it's the same as obtaining new gear and earning expensive gear. I remember one of the items I really worked hard on was getting some artifact gear, Dorje from PW, Blood Cuisses from Kirin, and completing CoP and ToAH (this was back in the day btw). I will never forget obtaining my Rajas Ring, Glory Crown, and Ethereal Earring. It felt good knowing the end of waiting and lining up people for the battlefields and clearing the missions little by little each day

3.) My friends on Phoenix were really nice and helpful. Even the linkshells I joined were very friendly and helped me a lot. One links hell I really liked was Hamburglars. I thought everyone in the shell was very kind, however I do wish I was still part of your linkshell, but if you do see this, I thank you all for the small advice, help, and fun you all have brought me. And to all my friends, I could never have better people in my gaming life help me with stuff.

There really isn't much else I can put out onto this thread. There is just so much I've been thankful for. I thank SE a lot for creating this game and making it the best MMO I have ever played. I praise you and salute you for your updates, expansions, and always adding exciting content. I will miss you all, and FFXI.

I think my entire career of FFXI was my most favorite time in gaming period but probably my most heartwarming memory of it all was when my closest friends in my linkshell about 8 of us were goldfish scooping together for almost 7 hours straight until 7 AM one night while we all laughed and told stories over vent. Such good times.

Two for Tuesdays!

I would listen to online radio stations a majority of the time while playing. If you can look past the southern/hick theme of the station and songs, there were a few fluky coincidences which I thought made it pretty cool.

Something about Divine Might with these songs really matched up. "Well I got that green light babe," just as our BLM's timed nukes went off to begin the fight.

And after all the redneck banter, "I can't get no satisfaction," just as HM went down to end the fight.

Let me start by saying, I LOVE FFXI. I have so many awesome memories in FFXI but a few of my MOST memorable would be.

1. Day 1 level 6 running with my brothers and the woman who would become my wife to Valkurm dunes, exping along the way and running in to my first tremor ram. Curiosity got the best of me, I just had to get closer to the HUGE ram. Moments later in party chat "RUN" step. Step. Stdeath... It was funny because everyone else had done the same thing already.

2. Naming myself cureurface and starting on whm when around level 30 our party is in garliage citadel and I used ALL of my mp casting banish and banishga on bats and just let the party die. I then swapped to blm because I HAD to deal damage. Never lived it down.

3. There are so many great moments as I'm sure anyone who played during the 75 cap knew that one comment can't even begin to compare but those were a few defining and very fun/funny moments.

Day one of the 2h update. I claimed fafnir and was on drg and my wheeling thrusts which used to do 250-380 were now doing 890-1200 and i was hitting for 400 per hit. Then a few days later they nerfed 2handers. :/

Beating Maat for the first time, as lvl 70 WHM. Took almost a year of playing to get to that point, the last two weeks of which were trying to farm up the gil to buy food and meds for the fight.

1) Wings of the Godess Storyline:
WoTG gave the best Waifu's. Best storyline development. In My personal opinion, Lilisette to me felt real! She wasn't some half assed character which I wouldn't care about.
She had feelings, an over-arching goal, which was selfish in some respects. But you saw how that changed, and the consequences of her wish and desire. Whilst you dont really see that in the other storylines, Not really in SoA apart from with Teodor (Also one of my favorites). I did the storyline in a a hurry for film, but even then, I respected the characters. I respect Lilisette as a character, and was genuinely moved by her actions at the end of the storyline.

2) First 75 Job.
First job to level 75 was BST, so much excitement from taking one job to level 75. ;3 good times.

3) Mjollnir
Big milestone for me. I love my Mjollnir, and i don't care that people say that it's a junky/useless relic. I love my Mjollnir, it's shaped my character, and made me the murderous WHM i am today :3 SOLO ALL THE THINGS!!!!

Special moments like having a high level player escort me to Jeuno for the first time, attaining the choco pass and marvelling at the freedom it gave me, hearing the summer festival music for the first time while fishing with a friend, being invited to a Rank 5 mission run by another LS who were kind enough to let me join in etc. Oh the Kazham key run was a real sense of accomplishment aswell as my first few LB missions and the obligatory job unlocks.

However my best times (the real reason I kept playing for so long) was how great it was simply partying up with people and getting to know them. People moan about the word "grind" but it's what you make of it. The hours I spent in the Dunes, Qufim, the "Shitadel", Kazham, Crawlers and Altepa was completely worthwhile because I had lot's of fun talking with people and getting to know them. Building a reputation for doing your job well and the friends you'd make from it was great.

On the 3 separate occasions I started FFXI since 2003 I've made great friends that I stayed in touch with for years. Only Everquest gave me similar experiences, but FFXI was on another level. MMO's just arn't the same anymore, people are too impatient and think there's a destination to reach, while its the journey itself that's the point ;-;

1. Getting BLM to 75 as my first end game job.
2. Getting my Weskit from my linkshell back in the day.
3. Beating CoP when it was an actual challenge. (leveled Brd just to get through it and fell in love with the job)
4. Beating AV without the use of a wall/freeze trick. (Mattett/PlusOne team up ftw!)
5. Obtaining Novio from the JoL fight that led to the above AV defeat.
6. Obtaining Gjallarhorn
7. Winning Cat's Eye in the last Mog Bonanza to make my Nirvana just a little more easier.

Most of all, the people I've met and the friends I've made a long the way. I was pretty blessed to have my only two true endgame linkshells be relatively drama free compared to the others(especially on Midgard). I can't wait to finish the story up, hopefully with old friends I con into coming back and a few new I've made along the way.

The very best moment was: when I first unlocked my DRG all alone and I got it to 75 all alone because my LS back then wanted me DNC for backup healing AND tanking lol so funny times. I never forget about people who helped me in the very beginning nor now, like Mr Pretre made his Ragnarok the same time(or a week before) my Yoichi and we just stuck together and did what the other hand needed... and at this point I say, I can't tell a "special" day or time because all of this game is special to me like to other people as well... let's just keep going on and look what it brings

The entire game was such a great feedback loop of achievement... the sheer investment you needed to get NIN to 75 back in 2005-06. Literally making it that far and walking around like a boss was such an achievement.

Whats fafnir, oh ***hes big!?

Sky access and the entire grind.

Getting tavnazia access and running promys.

Being part of the first wave of absolute virtue attempts.

And then honestly coming back in the primetime Abby age and being stupid productive on a new server with a whole new group of friends and killing new content.

I hope that the entire lineage that XI created gets reskinned, gets its core rebuilt, and relaunched as the same old school MMO that it is.

took me SIX weeks to get to level 10 I was getting 20 exp off rabbits and then dying trying to push the envelope and actually losing experience... very first mmo ever.. it was so weird to see people running around who actually were controlled by real people.. sandoria was my home nation.. when I finally got to level 10, I had read in the cheesy ffxi strategy guide that you had to get to level 10 solo and then it was required to go back into town and shout for a mentor to guide you to vakurm dunes... so that is what I did lol.

it took me about a year to hit 75 on my warrior...that's when bibiki bay was the UBER camp and you could get up to 3k exp per hour >>>

Me and 3 friends camped xotolotl for about 40 days straight until I got my p harpe .. that was pretty epic...lots of drama in the desert fosho

lastly --watching Guivre stomp people mercilessly in kuftal...no one "ran away" from Guivre back in the day.. you just got a free trip to your mog house lol
