Final fantasy 7 Ruby weapon
Just a quick question, did anyone ever kill the damn thing? Lol I loved ff7 with Cloud, the golden chocobo and ruby and emerald weapon. I believe emerald was at the bottom of the ocean and I remember Knights of the round mimic spam to kill him but Ruby I believe was in the desert and did some dumb move that would kick your party members from the fight and I couldn't kill him solo. I know it's random but I just thought about this fight that frustrated me over 18 years ago, lol.
I think it took me two hours but yeah, once. lol
Killed them both on each playthrough
It can take some creative materia combinations, but with a solid plan they aren't so bad.
I stayed home sick from school one day and beat both of them. I don't remember my tactics at all from back then though. XD
I remember needing Knights of the round an the I think it was the reflect mat. Back then
If you just maxed cloud out with a few counter attack materias it died really fast.
Kill 2 of your party members before you start the battle. If they're dead, Ruby, won't remove them and will put it's arms in the ground to make it vulnerable to attacks.
Don't believe them! It's a trick to steal your materia!

I would wait till he did that move then revive both members. I would then use Kights of Round and mimic it with the cast 2x materia. I would then kill the two members again and repeat. I also transformed some mobs into sources and capped the stats I could. I killed it fairly easy this way. Doing it this way I was able to do 8 Knights of Round casts per attack round.
It counters KOTR with Ultima, so watch out for that.
Another way is to use Barrett with the Lucky 7s. He will KO it down with Ungarmax spam.
Final Attack + Phoenix to resurrect you and do damage if you die.
W-summon KOTR, Final Attack Phoenix, patience. Supposedly there is a memory manipulation that allows Vincent to KO him in one hit with his ultimate weapon Death Penalty, but I have never done it.

It had to do with overloading the counts that determine damage on their ultimate weapons. I remember using KotR and the others had mimic. Also I used Omnislash (with capped stats).

Omnislash is fine for cloud, but only when his tenticles are down. I also forgot to mention spending a ton of time either morphing mobs into sources or using the W-item dupe glitch, but that also involves finding a thief, having a basically empty inventory, and getting lucky with them stealing so you can recover the source as a usable item in battle. You should also look into farming 3 ribbons, as they make you immune to all status effects. There's plenty of great guides in how to deal with Ruby Weapon, but the short answer is grinding and patience. Go in with W-Summon and 2x mime with your alive character having Phoenix, W-summon equipped to Master Summon. Have Phoenix equipped to Final attack. Have your other two characters and your alive character equipped with mime.
Word of Warning: Ruby weapon will counter with Ultima if KotR is used on him. Go in with two characters KO'd, and once Ruby puts his fingers into the ground, use phoenix then a megalixir. Use your primary character to W-summon Hades then KotR. The reason you summon Hades is Ruby is weak to STOP magic. He's one of the few bosses that is weak to status effect magic. Since Summons essentially stop the clock, you can spam quite a few Hades-KotR combos before STOP wears off. Which, if you're lucky and it wears off after KotR, Hades will be up next and immediately use STOP on him again. If you're not so lucky, Ruby will counter with Ultima and maybe retract his fingers. Just keep up the mime even if your characters get kicked. Just hope it's not the character with final attack on him. Patience wins the day. I remember it took over half an hour to kill him. Or like I said, wipe him out with Lucky 7s using Barrett.
Lucky 7s makes your character spam Limit Break repeatedly with certain Materia abuse. If your character hits 7777 HP, it activates and hits practically maximum damage every hit. Emerald Weapon was a pain till i figured out Air Tam Storm did 1k dmg for each materia that char had equiped, so if you got 9001+HP and use 9 materia per char he can't 1 shot aoe you, or just kill the eyes quick and he cant use it, i beat him at lv73 last play through i think it was. Had to lvl quad qttack materia up 3x and farm final attack materia from battle square in gold saucer for final attack revive so even if he did kil me id ge right back up long as i had mp, KoTR spam works but limit breaks and quad attack alot faster. Big guard enemy skill+regen,
Ruby Weapon: this is the 1 that only took dmg from KotR. Think it was 8~12 Kotr killed him, he would quicksand 2/3 of party away unless they were dead so if u engage with 2 members dead he put his hands in sand at start and cant use quicksand anymore, then u just raise your ppl up hit the finger tentacles anf boss with slow/paralyze and spam kotr. easy win. W-Summon is a command materia, and thus does not need to be linked to Master Summon. Phoenix is great for final attack in general, but it does heal Ruby due to it being fire-based. You guys making me want to get a copy of this again, this is without doubt the best final fantasy game ever, shame new ones are just Button bash,7 was the reason I bought a playstation. Good times..
kotr and hades with w summon
you sleep the boss everytime and just keep miming. use some sort of absorb mp on kotr and you'll be fine. HP revive materia + final attack boss
Damn I miss 7, it was one of the first rog that I beat and then went back to discover there was so much ***I was yet to accomplish. I never used the 2 party member dead strat. Wish they had 7 on ps4 arcade or something. Actually I'm pretty sure my iPad could probably handle 7 if it was out there.

Everyone needs mystile as he counters kotr with ultima. Everyone needs final attack-phoenix materias and ribbons(the tentacles and mini/toad you). Dazers paralyze him for a few seconds, as does mastered hades. Definitely want to give everyone hero drinks to raise stats. After 9-11 KoTR casts he should die. Make sure they're mastered so you're doing 9,999 every hit.
