Then I got to the end game realized I lvled all alone and knew no one and then couldn't do anything but dungeon finder which at the time wasn't very rewarding. I hope that if they did can FFXI they at the same time would announce FFXI-2. This game is great and still has so much lore left to it. I mean for awhile this game was the only thing keeping Squareenix afloat. They released their income charts a few years ago and nearly 60% of it was from FFXI players. This was during the time of FFXIII and the first launch of FFXIV. Them killing off FFXI would be a shot in the foot lol. Least I hope they would think that. As for new content, next month we get the legendary Haste II! Who knows maybe Utsusemi San and other things we never thought we would have are coming. When it comes to new exp packs there is only one thing we can't do and that is, stop believing.... YouTube Video Placeholder Quoting for emphasis! JOURNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leviathan.Draylo said: » Yes, I think the Mithra homeland is next although I would prefer the far east. New jobs will be Time mage and chemist. Agreed here - either the Mithra homeland or the Far East seem the most logical places to expand to... but then again, we were saying that before Adoulin came out, too. As for new potential jobs, I'd agree that Time Mage and Chemist are the two most obvious canonical jobs that haven't been tapped. Time Mage, however, is largely displaced by Red Mage in this game (although no, they don't overlap perfectly). Chemist certainly has potential; given that jobs like ninja and ranger function fine with consumables, there's no reason to think that a Chemist idea would work - however, they'd have to have their own "tools" I think. The current economy for and function of restorative items simply isn't conducive to that kind of use. A "machinist/engineer" type job also seems possible, something along the lines of Cid from FF4 or Edgar from FF6. As to other comments, I had no idea the subscription service was so skewed. It's bogus that the XI subscription is higher, although it makes me wonder how XIV is doing overall and what SE's long-term projections there are. XI feels more robust to me right now than it has in three or four years, honestly. This but rather then Odin, let it be some Monster no one expects like Wrexsoul from FFVI or something. Automatons are soul-less i guess lol. As far as jobs go....Necomancer or maybe some sort of Berserker? That is about it, everything else is really in. Odin.Deathnought said: » So.....think we can look forward to yet atleast one more expansion? Or maybe more? If so, what do you think the new expansion will release area wise and job wise? Fun Friday conversation ^.^ I still really hate that they called Runefencer, "Rune Fencer" and not "Rune Knight" :/
The only 2 viable jobs i could see them adding are; Viking/Berserker/breaker - (pretty much the same thing) make the job excel with hammers and axes, hammer/shield , pretty much a war with an axe, but instead of adding attack like berserk, give it an ability to debuff mobs (defense break, evasion break, magic break etc, and maybe better defenses/tanking ability) Chemist - give them the ability to use "concentrated" versions of current items, make it so that you can use the alchemy craft to create stacks of these new items from current ones. ex; 1potion converts into = x amount of concentrated potions, usuable only by Chemist They heal and buff the party by "tossing" these concentrated items to you (just an animation) for job abilities, could add something like "mix" (mix 2 concentrated potions for extra effects) But it doesn't just end at healing, give them NEW items to add special buffs to players, like ("beserkers potion" +15% attack for duration) Could even let them debuff by throwing paralyze potions and poison potions etc. I'm bored :( I hate that too, I wish it was Rune Knight.
Pretty sure it's even called Rune Knight or Mystic Knight in JP FFXI. Wonder why they didn't carry it over
I personally think we'll see no more jobs... I mean, pretty much everything is already played out. A new buffer would seem redundant or underpowered, a new Healer type seems meaningless as we have 3 already, 4 if you're desperate... and a new DD... idk, we already have about 15... any hybrid class would either be too OP that it would end up RDM tier in an emergency nerf, or hang somewhere between SMN and BST in terms of situational. Still, I'd of said the same thing before GEO/RUN. (Though I'm half-right as both are generally considered about as useful as SMN/BST tier >_>)
There's just a limited spectrum of options, and most of them are filled quite full. Though Of all of the suggestions, Chemist is by far the most likely in my eyes, if we ever got any, since its somewhat a unique concept... That or they could just go full "f*ck it all release the kraken" and introduce an Onion Knight job/Mime job that allows you to st abilities from other jobs you've leveled, kinda like BLU, with a point system with each Job ability/trait having a value... making it a Hybrid jack of all trades job that grows more powerful with each job you 99. It seems like they already covered this idea. Valefor.Prothescar said: » Pretty sure it's even called Rune Knight or Mystic Knight in JP FFXI. Wonder why they didn't carry it over instead of new jobs, why not have the current jobs upgraded at lvl 99 with a name change like they did way way WAYYYY back in FF 1. warriors becames knights, mages became wizards, etc. Obviously they would have to create a ton of new morphs for alot of jobs, and thf would not become ninja like it did in FF 1 since we have ninja already. But you get the idea.
Also wanted to touch base on this "FF is ending" idea. Everyone needs to understand that this is a possibility in the near future. To SE, its about the money. if the fan base drops below a profitable margin... it will end. It don't matter if you heard this 6 or 7 years ago. Keep that in mind, its actually 'been' 6-7 years since people started thinking FFXI was dead. The reality of that happening is even more likely to happen now no matter how often they pump out updates. Just because you heard the statement prematurely and people were wrong back then, doesn't suddenly make the game immortal. Bottom line is we need to stay supportive of the game if its going to survive. Making more things obtainable solo helps, due to the fact that "if your not pimped out to the nines, you can't join an event" mentality really pushes a lot of casual players away. Not everyone got the time to play for hours on end, or make it to scheduled events every day. People really need to start supporting everyone on their respective servers and quit being so picky about jobs, gear etc. If people keep quitting the game, all your job lvls, merits, relics, gear etc will eventually be nothing more then a memory if FFXI ever shuts down. The players who have everything are the ones who stand to lose the most...They should be the first ones to lend a hand to the community to encourage and help others to progress. The future of FFXI depends on it. This soooo *** much lol "You can have cureskin, convert, sublimation, magic hammer, tachi:Fudo (lolz) and Geo spells" that would be sooo overpowered. Remember when we could all cast blue spells on any job a couple months back? Self hasting mnks with their own refresh was funny ***, let alone windsofpromy as whm xD Fairy.Ghaleon said: » I still really hate that they called Runefencer, "Rune Fencer" and not "Rune Knight" :/ The only 2 viable jobs i could see them adding are; Viking/Berserker/breaker - (pretty much the same thing) make the job excel with hammers and axes, hammer/shield , pretty much a war with an axe, but instead of adding attack like berserk, give it an ability to debuff mobs (defense break, evasion break, magic break etc, and maybe better defenses/tanking ability) Chemist - give them the ability to use "concentrated" versions of current items, make it so that you can use the alchemy craft to create stacks of these new items from current ones. ex; 1potion converts into = x amount of concentrated potions, usuable only by Chemist They heal and buff the party by "tossing" these concentrated items to you (just an animation) for job abilities, could add something like "mix" (mix 2 concentrated potions for extra effects) But it doesn't just end at healing, give them NEW items to add special buffs to players, like ("beserkers potion" +15% attack for duration) Could even let them debuff by throwing paralyze potions and poison potions etc. I'm bored :( No No NO! Berserker, can dual wield two, two handed weapons and JT of reduce delay. He can mix up the weapons or use both to do unique weapon skills. Battle Mage: Use magic to do skill chains, magic burst and Dot's and debuffs upon magic landing. Let them be a distance DPS, Opposite of sam. Similar to what sch can do, but allow them access of a few weapon types. Wasn't Berserker an auto attack only and claws type class before? Never really liked it in those games so didn't use it much.
Asura.Ackeronll said: » Wasn't Berserker an auto attack only and claws type class before? Never really liked it in those games so didn't use it much. I don't know about other FF games. But in most games they dual wield two heavy weapons, or can take a single two handed weapon and wield it with 50% less delay than normal people. This would make something new and different They should make Great hammers though if they do it. People said the game was dying when ToAU was coming out. Please.

Berserkers in FF are uncontrollable Axe wielding or Barehanded maniacs whose behavior can be modified by certain equipment/areas/enemies. They receive 50% increased Attack and have innate high strength and stamina (Vitality) They are also 100% immune to confuse which would be Charm in this game. Glad the dev team doesn't really listen to the playerbase. The amount of bs suggested far outweights the good ideas.

The game continues because there are enough people that continue to play to keep the game profitable regardless of who quits. As long as this happens, then the game will continue. Asura has around 800 members at peak hours ,Stop talking about when and how people have said it's gonna die for years because it's already dead now.

Wow a baby server. Merge it with a small server. Then you can compete with Rag, and Odin what have 1200-1800. Warrior is the merged Fighter/Berserker job of the game. They have Berserker-like abilities i.e Warcry/Savagery/Berserk/wield axes opposed to Swords. They could potentially add Viking since its been mentioned in the lore, but what niche would it serve except to undermine the already 8-10 dd jobs that compete for a party slot already? Would it do any good to have a dedicated Viking job? Most of the new jobs were better off having their spells/Ja added to an existing job. Dancer, while cool, could have its steps and flourished renamed to Dynes and gives to THF which would fit THF's subterfuge and assassin arts(debuff the mob, pinning it down with "steps"(would be renamed). Scholar Ja could have been split amongst rdm whm and blm. Blm and whm getting penury/alacrity/rapture/ebullience/arts and RDM getting accession/manifestation and adoloquiem/storms etc
They won't do Mime. That's what PUP is but in XI flavor.

But you get the idea. That system involved crystals/orbs(w/e version you wanna reference) tied to the characters which grew to advanced jobs once you spoke to bahamut after the 4 fiends had been destroyed and the power was restored to the crystals/orbs. That system wouldn't really work here because there isn't anything binding us to our job titles like that, however you'll probably see something like that show up in XIV I would guess. So far, ALL rumors of FF11 dying or not having a new expansion released have been 100% debunked. |
