nope
When deciding what game to play from scratch (not that I've played 14) the arguments were clearly in the favor of 11.

Now: You toss gear every 1~3 months.

If you think this is a "Afania's experience only" statement that can't apply to other players, go ask your SAM, MNK DRK friends.

As a SAM fanboy or w/e you wanna call me, I have never tossed a single piece of gear that my job could use, even if its been replaced or eclipsed by another piece of gear.

You can throw away all the gear you want, whatever you think is useless or worthless or whatever, gear to me will always retain its value and usefulness to myself and I'm certain anyone who actually enjoys investing time into a class they care a lot about themselves will do the same.
Nope I replace the things that are obsolete for BLU and you can ask ANYONE on Cerberus, I really like BLU >_>

Let's see if you can still do the same when your MH full :D I often do that and sometimes I feel it's really dumb to have a few slots of inv just for sentimental reasons.

This is a public discussion though, not your FFXI, so negative opinions are allowed.

Also about your drama comment, I didn't actually pop in the discussion asking ppl to quit cuz the game is so bad. I only pointed out the difference between FFXI now and 75 era FFXI. I liked 75 era FFXI more, obviously. But I don't hate current FFXI enough for me to quit. Then ppl repeatedly ask me to quit just because I like 75 era FFXI more, who is the real drama *** here?

Holy crap if there is a competition of the master of negativity I probably need to work harder to win. I only ever say "you toss gears faster in SoA" then you told me to quit, have no friends, drama *** and vomit negativity all over because you can't tolerate my opinion.

You won the competition, k? Now can you let me go, I am running out of my negativity power:(

At this point of time I've been wondering if you can't read, or purposely trolling, or too eager to win the master of negativity competition that you have to twist the meaning of my words and amplify it with 10x more negativity.

I read through the entire discussion and I didn't see any indication saying "I think FFXI sucks so bad".

Someone bashed FFXI for being different, Draylo said it's the same, I disagree by saying "You toss gears every 1~3 months instead of 3 years like before". Which does not have the same meaning as "I think FFXI sucks so bad", it only pointed out a fact.

Then Draylo disagreed by giving an example of lists of gears that last long, and I replied:

Ragnarok.Afania said: »
I don't have an issue tossing brutal/suppa/loq, but I have an issue storing reforge 119 1 month after I got them.

I think it's a bad design in ANY MMO to outdate a highest ILV gear that's just out after 1 month, and this isn't FFXI specific. Then someone questioned it about AF thing, and I explained how ILV119 AF being best in slot DD gear when it was out, and downgrade into extremely situational gears in 1 month.

You can continue to argue that "extremely situational" =/= "useless". This is is subjective anyways, regardless I think it's not a good design in any MMO. Even then it does not have same meaning as "I think FFXI sucks so bad that I must quit". It only pointed out a design that is very different from 75 era FFXI and current gen MMO, I don't know how you somehow amplified it with 10x more negativity and turn it into "FFXI sucks so bad" or something like that.

I also proceed to explain how tossing gear in 1~3 months applies to many other job with skirmish1> delve1 gears because someone question it, and this still has nothing to do with "FFXI sucks so bad".

Then I replied your post with the following statement about gear progression:

Ragnarok.Afania said: »
That's because you get newer gears such as battle field/delve2 gears way too fast. There's something new every month, you got delve gears in March and some new gears in April/May, but obviously it doesn't last long enough cuz you can get them in days/weeks.

"Not getting anything new" isn't the main reason why you have nothing to do, "you get everything too fast" is.

I think gears taking 2~3 months to obtain and last 1 year is way better than gears taking 1 week to get and obsolete next month, from MMORPG and longevity's POV. Or else I can just play on and off, take a 3 months break and come back then grind the newest gears after 3 months. There are 0 incentive to stay subbed for months if you get gears fast and gears also obsolete fast.

I simply just pointed out how FFXI get players stay subbed for past 10 years, which was long term goal. I have plenty of friends quit recently, or do nothing but building REM, because there are no incentive to stay subbed after they get gears and they get it FAST. Before SoA I rarely see that many come and go or players quitting because of long term goals....yes ppl quit before SoA, but I just feel more ppl quit recently after they got everything. "0 incentive to stay subbed" was just pointing out the fact that ppl started quitting or sit in town and afk, that wouldn't happen if they're far, far away from getting the gear they want.

This does not have same meaning as "FFXI sucks so bad" either. It means "I think gears should take longer to get and stay relevant for longer duration of time so ppl won't quit after they get their shiny."

No matter how I see it I just don't see "FFXI sucks so bad" in my word to fulfill your criteria about vomiting negativity all over. I did say I think outdating gears in 1~3 months is too fast, but that applies to every single MMO on the market. Most MMO doesn't outdate the highest tier raid gears in such a short time frame, this is hardly FFXI specific negativity. Most of my other posts are just explaining my statement and it's hardly "starting drama and vomiting negativity" since other ppl started first. I did say I enjoy long term goals, in fact I just started a new long term goal Ergon weapon recently. But "enjoying the long term goals, dislike short term goals" does not have the same meaning as "I think FFXI sucks so bad".

I don't need a "good reason" to continue playing, my reasons for playing FFXI is always the same in past 5 years, and my account was active for past 5 years straight too. There are always design directions that I don't like(short term goals, low man content, solo content), and design directions that I like(long term goals, alliance content), regardless of the game. Just because there are design directions I don't like in this game, it doesn't mean I think FFXI sucks so bad....unless you twist the meaning of it with your negativity. When I supported SE for long term goals such as REM revamp, job point and Ergon weapons I didn't see you telling me I'm saying positive things about this game.

I took two months off to play Elder scrolls online. And I do compare it much to FFXI and FFXIV. So many things I taken for granted n FFXI as it such an old game, I have to be grateful we have.

In FFXI auction house, you can see any item in a category and price. In FFXIV you can type in what you search for. In Elder scrolls online, you can’t do anything.

They have so many quest bugs, active traits and passive traits broken it is so sad. Even when people complain about CP’s I have to admire our developers for allowing some form of job growth.

FFXI and FFXIV have ok group functions in forming a party and easy to add a friend. It is easy to recognize your friends with nameplates. ESO has none of this.

N FFXIV you can see a 3d look on your armor screen. ESo you can’t.

In quest and rewards the best items in game are not quested or dropped from any boss. Crafting books, horse. Armor repair is worthless. I love ffxi, If you craft it or get it you don’t repair it.

A combat log, economy, and so much more. FFXI has done so much and still going for twelve years as a sub game. Most people don’t even know it’s a sub game. Be grateful for what we have.

The one thing ESO does have is interactive environment and cool storylines. Walking in a dungeon to always be poisoned. Burring dead people, actually showing it. And cut scenes of cheers and such do remind me of FFXIV.

Love our game. Refer a friend to sign up or come back. Lets have a FFXI rebirth!

I dont know how negativity didnt exist when you admitted to being negative and defended it.

you complain about 119 AF gear. Most 'smart' people knew they were going to upgrade relic soon after and that by default only some of both sets would be great. Pick and choose what you get so you dont waste your time. Its a skill that some people have. An example is buying a ring for 4m to increase str by 1 which is later replaced by a ring that is only 1m for the same effect.

Another good example: Looking at delve boss items vs nm weapons. knowing that rigors was weaker then oats, why waste time on them. Just wait for oats and be done with it.
