So I have a cell phone now and my plan was to disconnect my home phone and my TV (since I don't watch TV anymore) to save some money and use that towards making my cell phone my main phone.

My question is: At the moment my ISP is Eastlink (I live in Nova Scotia Canada) and my current internet connection is called Dynamic 40 on their website. The description is Speed (down) - Up to 40 Mbps, and Speed (up) - Up to 6 Mbps. This alone will cost 90/month when not in a bundle, which doesn't save me much money. The other option is the Dynamic 20 connection which is Up to 20 Mbps download, and 2 Mbps upload. All I use the internet for is playing FFXIV, and torrenting which I generally see anywhere from 200 Kb/s up to 1.5 MB/s depending on the torrents, seeds, and leeches. How much of a difference (if any) do you think I will notice?

You could most likely get away with the lower one, if it saves you a decent amount of money.

If you did more streaming, I'd suggest getting faster, but if or you and if you're the only one really using it, it should be enough.

I have about the same connection via comcast and torrent decently, and if you adjust the settings right you can torrent and play at the same time.

As somebody who uses wifi for calls/texts etc I honestly can't say I recommend it, even as a person who almost never leaves home/work/somewhereelsewithwifi

There is very little reason to be anywhere over 30Mbps unless you are downloading a lot using those files hosters. Torrents speed varies depending on the swamp size and your upload speed so it should not matter much.

The only other heavy speed use would be HD streaming from netflix or other stuff but those don't really need anything more than 10Mbps.

I used to have a land line phone and TV cable but not anymore. I find little use for the home phone other than getting ads and gathering dust and I got my TV shows fix from the internet. I have a mobile and pay $39 for 25Mbps cable internet.

I also don't suggest not having a phone plan. I have a buddy going with WiFi only and nobody can seem to reach him when he's out for lunch.

Assuming in the impossible off chance your complaining has merit : p, what brand would you go with instead of apple for a device like that, that isn't a phone.*

Do you have a preference jet?
I have used a phone twice now without a plan to perform the same function, it's a prepaid phone that I just didn't have service with, add that with google voice and bam.
