So the newsfeed from the official Playonline page contains this awesome snippet:
Quote: Hot on the heels of the skull-cracking skirmishes of February come new Delve content, the long-awaited Cait Sith avatar, more relic reforging, and Campaign adjustments. If you enjoy more esoteric adventures, whet your appetites with new alter egos and ways to enjoy current ones, a command to lock your appearance even after changing equipment, changes to the fishing system, and new Records of Eminence objectives!
So many possibilities! Now I'll finally be able to look like I'm wearing a Valor Surcoat and a Stearc Subligar together while I fight!
What other gearsets are you guys thinking are the sharpest looking to "lock" into?

Kheper/pri jacket and hat are the best looking pieces in the game. I kinda want that turban only for the looks.

I think it would be pretty cool to wear an old-school Aristocrat's Coat or Dalmatica again as a nod to the pre-level 75-era, but while obviously using end-game gear.
There are many possibilities really!

What im really looking forward to is no blinking if people lock a piece to all slots. Drg pld drk are all gunna be full empy sets and cor is probably gunna be relic set.
Actually I think it might be full ares +1, full phorcys or full homam/enif aets always liked those 3 sets.

Pretty sure it gets unlocked after switching zones
I'll look for the official source on that.

I used to have a real issue trying to heal people that constantly changed their gear. Then someone told me about the <stal> macro (which takes a bit of time to get used to), and now I'm not sure how I ever lived without it.
It doesn't matter if they blink or not, you can confidently cast on your party members (and the rest of the alliance as well).
I always liked WHM on Vermy

Classic style!

Matsui here.
Thanks for the suggestions.
We are actually in the midst of discussing a system that would separate the appearance of your equipment and the actual gear you have equipped. However, as this is a very large change it will take us some time. We’ll first be looking into a feature that will allow you to keep a certain appearance temporarily.
For example, we are imagining a system where you could equip cosmetic equipment and lock your appearance, and then switch to your practical equipment. As an added effect, we are also planning to make it so you no longer blink when switching equipment.
We’re currently working on this to be implemented sometime after March with the following rules:
•Locked appearances will automatically be removed when changing areas.
•Locked appearance wills be removed when changing your main weapon, sub weapon, and ranged weapon, as this change alters animations.
•Locked appearances will be removed when you suffer the effects of equipment removing abilities to prevent confusion.
•Restrictions will be imposed for PvP content as it could potentially be used to fake-out opponents.

You can turn on the chat filter "Check Notices" and anytime anyone checks you - you will not get the "Oxt examines you"

Yeah be quite nice. Even if it's only current zone specific.
I'll probably use it more on my female alt than me though. To keep her looking like she's in her underpants.

This will be fun! I'm slightly bummed that it will be more difficult to spot people who aren't geared appropriately, though. And people who don't change gear at all. :X Reasons I don't use Blinkmenot lol

Gonna be amazing, death to hideous looking tp sets!
For someone that loves to collect towngear and finds skirmish gear the most offensive looking armor ever, this makes me so happy.
I think this could actually create a bit of a market for some craftable gear that people still are fond of for their visual aspect.
Who doesn't love:
All the visual armor set things!
I can consider playing pup again and look like this instead of a jester? oh yes please.
So many pretty things i've held onto that can find their way into visual sets for the jobs that can equip them:

forever manteel bard! (especially when loldd)
Always thought this combo looked neat and wanted more aztecan/elshimo jungles themed stuff for mithras.

Transmogrification did wonders for getting people to seek out obscure and ultimately useless pieces of gear in WoW, so if a similar effect can be achieved with this... well, if I was playing right now, I'd dig my Exocets out of storage because they're still one of the only completely unique item models in the game.
Two thoughts come to mind. First, would this effectively work like BlinkMeNot in that it would prevent losing your target when casting on someone (I know there are other workarounds, but an official fix is always nice)? Second, I can see this causing some problems with macros that misfire. Even in lag-free zones I've inexplicably wound up wearing my Chakra accessories for an inordinate period of time. I wouldn't want to find out that I've been TP'ing full-time in my WS kit because my model no longer reloads.
Eh, good with the bad, I suppose.

Yeah this wasn't here for OTHER players to see you never change gear appearance so this is more than an official patch of the blinkmenot plugin windower uses.
(unless im totally missing something)
I will be rocking the Kirin's Osode set and probably Nashira not sure..... Weskit BLM again. So many possibilities to consider!!11!

Overall love the idea. No longer have to suffer through all the horrible looking gear/mismatched sets. I have been playing in Altana View way to much since they announced this lol.

I doubt this will happen because I haven't heard any similar types of complaints from JP PS2 players so far (they already have a similar option to turn off blinking by setting everyone as basic race armor).
It's a pretty limited option for sure (especially that changing weapons part), but it really is nice to get something like this after so long (and it's kinda sad that XIV is getting this at basically the same time when they probably have a much larger staff...).

Supposedly this makes it so that other players see what gear you're locked into, something I quite like. It's nice to see what other peoples' favorite armor sets are or if people will try to match up gear in their own combinations.
The biggest downside to this is that if you have to vanity something you're not just using anyway it's going to take up to another 5 slots in your inventory which is kinda painful.
