Quote: McDonald's is in the early stages of looking at whether it can make breakfast available later in the day.
Fans of the Egg McMuffin and Sausage Biscuit have long wanted the option to get breakfast at McDonald's after 10:30 a.m. But offering both the breakfast and lunch menu was considered logistically impossible, given the tight kitchen spaces of the restaurants.
Still, it's an option the chain is eyeing more seriously at a time when people's eating habits are changing — particularly those coveted customers in their 20s and 30s known as Millennials.
"We know, as an example, that breakfast on the weekend cut off at 10:30 doesn't go very well," Jeff Stratton, head of McDonald's USA, said in an interview.
Stratton declined to provide any details on how McDonald's would adjust kitchen operations to make breakfast later in the day.
"Well, we're just beginning. ... We're just taking a look at it," he said.
Taco Bell Breaks Out of Shell With New Morning Menu
A representative for McDonald's, Lisa McComb, said after the interview that there are no tests currently in place for the extended breakfast hours.
McDonald's has long entertained the idea of serving breakfast throughout the day. But the chain has been inching closer to making the idea a reality as it faces heightened competition and slumping sales. Last year, for example, the company began offering an "After Midnight" menu at select locations. The menu, available from midnight to 4 a.m., consisted of a limited mix of breakfast and lunch items so kitchen operations wouldn't be overwhelmed.
The push to make breakfast outside normal hours also reflects how McDonald's is working to keep pace with shifting habits. In particular, executives have noted that customers increasingly want foods personalized to their tastes and schedules.
To cater to evolving tastes, the chain is also offering newer items such as chicken McWraps and the option to substitute egg whites in any breakfast sandwich.
As for extending its breakfast hours, McDonald's is known for treading extremely carefully when discussing any tests or potential changes. Such matters are considered sensitive in large part because they would require the support of the company's network of franchisees.
In the U.S., about 90 percent of the company's more than 14,000 U.S. restaurants are run by franchisees, who bear the responsibility of training employees and buying new equipment to accommodate any changes.
Hoping that they do extend hours, tired of sleeping in (totally my fault) and rushing to McDonalds before 10:30 on weekends. >_>
Anyone else happy or hoping that they do?

Man BK pisses me off.
It's *** Burger King, you should be able to get a Burger when they're open. It's like going to Pizza Hut and not being able to get pizza.
I honestly only really like the hashbrowns from Mcdonald's breakfast, so meh...
BK near where I used to live used to have a sign saying "serve lunch at 8am" went in there one morning at 10:30 and said they don't serve lunch yet...
Place pissed me off.

BK breakfast is good, but their Ice Coffees are expensive for their sizes, but very good too.
Fav place for fast food breakfast would be Chik-fil-a though. But one near me don't have a drive thru... =/

The only thing I go to McDonald's for anymore is their sweet tea.
For breakfast I go to Krystal's now.

I'm kinda indifferent because I rarely go to McDonald's during normal lunch/dinner hours, let alone breakfast, but I never understood why it ended at 10:30. Some people don't get up before noon on the weekends (wish it was me). 11:30 would've been more reasonable.

There's no reason they can't make it, but they wouldn't have anything prepped/built for breakfast past that time, they have a build-to for breakfast, and they start prepping that space for lunch later.
I've worked in a gas station that had a fast food place in it, so I'm not informed on McD's specifically but I can see their reasoning, but it doesn't extend much beyond it takes time, and they're lazy.
I can ask my sister to be sure though, she's worked at McD's before.
I'm only taking a stab based on the statements in the article and my understanding of fast food.

My husband loves pineapple and banana peppers.
Nothing but freaking yellow all over. I tried it and couldn't pick out the peppers because I'd be getting pineapple instead.

I used to get McDonalds breakfast all the time.
The Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel was $2, with 3 layers of egg and 3 pieces of bacon.
Over time, the price has risen to $3.50, while reducing the portion size to 2 layers of egg and 2 pieces of bacon.
It tasted great, but never again. I can understand inflation and a price increase, but BOTH raising price AND reducing portion? McDonalds can go *** themselves as far as breakfast is concerned.
Also, lol at $3 Egg McMuffin. How many years were those for a dollar?

Breakfast for me is a cup of coffee and toast. I'll past on the egg like substance.

Agreed, I am upset that they got rid of McSkillet Burrito still but still good option for my mobile breakfest needs. I am a fan of their Steak Egg n Cheese Bagel. MMmm MMM

I guess if I was drunk at 10 am an egg muffin would sound good though.
I remember being drunk and eating chicken nuggets. Probably the only time I ever wanted a "nugget of chicken".

I loved their bacon, egg, and cheese bagel, but most of them don't carry any of the bagel sandwiches anymore.
So we make our own. It's cheaper too, lol.

A few more hours for a chance to get diarrhea from a breakfast McBurrito sounds lovely.

But remember our motto for out-of-state people: If you can't pronounce the name of the restaurant, don't eat there! That food is too good for you and will give you the runs.

I can understand inflation and a price increase, but BOTH raising price AND reducing portion? Double Cheeseburger used to be on the dollar menu. Then they raised the price and made the McDouble their dollar menu thing. Now they've raised the price of the McDouble too, lol.
I only order from the dollar menu when I go to McDonalds. Of course, going there is pretty dang rare since there is a Chic Fil A right next door, so every time I drive up there, I end up choosing Chic Fil A about 9 times out of 10, lol.

But seriously, if you ever want a good taco joint, ask a local. I know several in SA, but there is only 1 that is the best in the state in my eyes and that's out in the middle of nowhere.

The only thing I go to McDonald's for anymore is their sweet tea.
For breakfast I go to Krystal's now. Their Sweet tea is evil. Pure sugary evil. I made it when I went in at 4 a.m. So evil. Oh god the sugar.
There's no reason they can't make it, but they wouldn't have anything prepped/built for breakfast past that time, they have a build-to for breakfast, and they start prepping that space for lunch later.

I'm only taking a stab based on the statements in the article and my understanding of fast food. The one I worked at served Breakfast until 10:30, 11 on weekends. There's different utensils and tools needed for lunch between breakfast, and also the fryers need to be filtered and warmed up before lunch time.
Switching over was usually awful, and if we had a flood of breakfast orders that came in, it would make it that much harder (it was one person that set up for lunch). They would be rushing to get it done, which is a no-no (also when they're making food for lunch they have to temp everything that gets made before hand, making the process longer). So trying to do all that, with usually 1-2 people in the grill area to keep up (which for our breakfasts, wasn't enough sadly).
I wish all the utensils and food could have popped up and changed before and after, but someone has to do it and it's just one person.
Breakfast for me is a cup of coffee and toast. I'll past on the egg like substance. F.Y.I. All McMuffins are made with REAL egg. One of the only places besides sit down restaurants that does that. Biscuits have the crap egg, but you can substitute it for about 50 cents. Totally worth it.

Btw, the McDouble was created to save McDonald's the food cost on a piece of cheese.
One piece of cheese is worth 30 cents.
As for the new price jumps, that could be just inflation/higher food cost.
