Hey guys,

I am having a problem with no sound in game.

When I am logging in, i have sound in the POL menus, but once I get into game I do not.

I don't remember last time it was working, but recently I did reinstall Windower 3.4 but I normally use Windower 4.

I have check the following:
Inside FFXI: Sound FX on
Inside W4 GUI: Sound on
Inside W3.4: Sound set to 5
Inside registry: Sound set to 1 (0:off 1:on)

Any other ideas?

Thanks!!

Well, did you try logging on without windower and see if the sound works? If it works w/o windower then you know windower is the problem, if it doesn't then you know its a game setting/computer-switching-to-full-screen problem.

3.4 still works? I thought it was being phased out.

You've likely checked but I'll mention it anyway. If you are using Win7 you might check your sound mixer and make sure that FFXI is not individually muted or too low. POL and FFXI are two different programs so this could possibly be the case.

This happened to me the other day. Click on your speaker icon, you should see a mixer option at the bottom of the volume bar. Click on that to expand your options. You should see your instance of FFXI and your volume is probably turned way down or muted all together. Raise the volume bar and issue should be resolved.

Yes, i forgot to mention, but I checked that also, as I have had that issue before also. But that did not resolve it either.

have you tried turning it off and on?
format hdd
reinstall

jk.

ffxi is the only program giving you issues?
have you checked the game settings?
done a file check under POL and not windower?
how long ago did you start to have issues, and what has changed since it happened? (installed new software, game update, windows update, etc)(you said you don't remember but think about it)
what windows version you said you had?

Yes XI is the only one giving an issue that I can tell. When i click on the volume, its gives me the "beep" as well as log in sound FX.

Checked game settings, all ok there

Have not done file check - that will now be on to do list

I think it started around when I reinstalled 3.4

And I am using Win7 64x

I think the issue might be around Windower.
I really didnt mess with it much so no idea how it could affect it or what version is it on. maybe it has a setting to kill sound ?

tried it logging on via official POL to see if it works?
