Hi. I always have questions that I am too shy to ask or don't know who to ask.
I was thinking that the semi-anonymity of this site + the relatively broad audience will give me a decent mix of people (where i'll probably get a good answer).
It's also not ffxi related, nor do i want these questions to get lost in the sea that is RT/NI.
Anyhow:
1) I get slightly dry hands every winter. The nature of my job requires that i occ have to wash grease from my hands. That + the weather dries them out.
The GOOD hand creams leave residue on my hands > My ADD kicks in > I wash hands > hands further dried out.
Anyhow, I want something that won't leave my hands all greased/wet, but also actually works. I was looking at this based on several online googles etc:
Thoughts?
2) My jeans are too tight in the thigh but baggy at the waist. If i go up waist size and just belt the ***out of them they're uncomfortable because of baggy. Men's jeans only come with waist and inseam but not leg size. What cuts are gonna have different leg sizes? What do i look for when I want "i've ever been in a gym and i'm not michael cera" jeans? As much as I love it the attention my female character gets, crying on the bed trying to force on jeans before school is thankfully something my gender never had to deal with. (I mean that with love ladies. Please dont crucify me).
3) Are tomatoes the best vegetable/fruit ever? If no, how do you sleep at night?

As for #1, I've always used:
Works wonders for protecting your skin against the elements.

It will feel greasy at first, but it absorbs at a similar consistency (albeit somewhat slower) than lotion.
Also in regards to #3, I sleep just fine at night because avocado.

My ex loved any form of shea butter. It does feel a little thick, but it does wonders for the skin.

Tomatoes are great since you can do so much with them - but I prefer either carrots or corn.

1.) mine dry out too, & there's nothing I hate more than lotion, so no help here.
2.) that's a weird problem, idk. I don't wear skinny jeans. these American eagle ones my wife gets me seem to work & they're relatively cheap. (edit* I'm 33/32 & not curvaceous)
3.) no, you are gross in that aspect, but I still love you. I sleep terribly. maybis I needs moar tomotos.

This is what I use in the Winter. I obsessively wash my hands also but hate feeling as though I need to wash them again after washing.

1.)
I have the same dry hand problem. There's a couple of things that I found that help.
One, if you use liquid hand soap, stop it. I know bar soap is gross and bacteria can linger on it for hours and all that happy jazz, but liquid hand soap is more detergent-like and will therefore slurp all the moisture right out of your hands.
Likewise, if you wash dishes manually, put on gloves before sticking your hands in the detergent.
Two, I've heard excellent things about Bag Balm. The internet seems to have nothing but good reviews for it and it comes highly recommended by wise grandmothers. But when I tried to find it here in town, I couldn't. I tried something called O'Keefe's Working Hands instead. Not going to lie, it stings like mad going on (especially in the deeper and bloodier cracks) but it doesn't take forever to absorb and it really seems to be helping. I put it on before bed (a wee little bit goes a long ways) and when I wake up, my cracks are smaller, shallower, and less painful. I've used it for three days (well three nights, rather) and at the moment my hands don't have a single crack or bleed.
I'm crack-a-lackin' and I like it! (That being said, Bag Balm looks to be less expensive than this Working Hands stuff, so I'll keep trying to get my non-cracked grubhooks on Bag Balm. Amazon has it in stock in two-packs, how delightful!)
2.)
I'm no expert in men's pants, but I believe that carpenter style jeans usually have a wider thigh. Like so:
Those are Levi's. I'm sure you could find a similar fit in an off-brand that wouldn't be so spendy. Actually, I have no idea how much Levi's cost, I usually just assume the worst about name brand pricing. :/ My bad.
3.)
Tomatoes are ok. They are not the best unless they have been made into marinara sauce. Either you love marinara sauce or you are wrong, there is just no middle ground! They are not the worst unless you try to eat them like an apple.

Great ideas. I was kinda hoping my friends here would be more.... definitive about brand etc lol.
I have to be like super picky about the hand lotion. The OCD is so bad in my family that my brother has to put sandwich bags on his hands to eat potato chips......
I wore levi's a lot when i was younger. To be honest they're actually pretty cheap these days and they have them at penny's (or whatever they call that place these days).
I eat tomatoes like apples. You heathens should be ashamed of yourself. For SOME REASON, I've loved tomatoes (and john astin for that matter) ever since i was a kid....

1. I'm the same way with most lotions; the greasy feeling drives me mad.
You can always try using a bit of olive oil or coconut oil, if you happen to have some lying around the kitchen. When doing this, rather than using soap to wash off excess oil, use a washcloth or paper rags. It's a cheap experiment, so it can be done prior to trying out other options.
2. I've had similar problems with waist/leg diameter. Typically boot cut has larger diameter at the knee/calf than regular fit, somewhat similar in concept to bell bottoms; with loose fit having a larger diameter at the thighs, and some additional anti-soprano spacing. It's turned into a 5 point check when trying on jeans: Doesn't get stuck on calves, thighs, crotch, comfortably close, comfortably crouch.

I don't know just how big your thighs are, but as someone with downright comical thigh/waist proportion, I can tell you the most surefire solution to this is to buy your jeans to fit your thighs, then get the waist taken in to fit your waist.

OH! And if you wash your hands with hot water, stop that too.
Many people use hot water in order to kill germs. The truth of it is, if it's hot enough to kill germs, then it would be scalding your skin horribly. You can't safely use water that hot on your unprotected skin.
So not only are you NOT killing germs, but hot water is more irritating to skin than cooler water is, plus it's bad for energy efficiency too.

I've started using cool or lukewarm water on my hands as well as O'Keefe's Working Hands, and they are feeling much better. That hot water feels so good, but it's so irritating to skin!

This is what I use in the Winter. I obsessively wash my hands also but hate feeling as though I need to wash them again after washing. This is the brand I use too. :D I get really dry skin on my hands, face, and shoulders during the winter. I put a really small amount (like a little more than half the length of my last finger joint) of CeraVe lotion on those areas after I shower and it's great all day. It absorbs really fast, a single bottle lasts me practically forever, there's no nasty oily feeling, and it's entirely non-comedogenic. It takes a very careful balancing act for me to keep my skin clear, so I've always been pretty wary of lotions and things. Had no problems with this one from the outset though. :]

Don't be shy! : p
Lol!
Well ok. The first that I can remember, I was in middle school but playing with the high school band. The high school band was traveling from New Mexico to Anaheim, California for a competition, and of course we were hitting Disneyland hard while we were there.
In Disneyland, we were set in groups of 4 and we had to check in with our designated chaperon every three hours or something like that. Every group of four had a different chaperon. Well, after awhile, I started to feel a little sick and wanted to lay down. It was five or ten minutes before my check-in time, but we found the chaperon early so I asked permission to go back to the hotel and nap. Permission granted! Woo!
So I went and laid down for a few hours, woke up feeling much better and ready to go play some more. I took the shuttle bus back to Disneyland... where my band director (who was my most favorite teacher ever and the one I never, ever wanted to disappoint, ever) immediately found me and started yelling at me. In front of the whole band, no less! And I had no idea what was going on at all.
Well, it turns out, what had happened was that almost immediately after I left, my chaperon had some sort of emergency with her son and had to also leave. So my group of four got assigned to a new chaperon, who had NO IDEA that I was sleeping peacefully back at the hotel. And the other three girls in my group (because apparently they were pants-on-head stupid) declined to inform her of this arrangement. So my new chaperon panicked, ran all over Disneyland looking for me, found the director and told him I was missing, which must have freaked him all kinds of out. I wasn't technically supposed to be there to begin with, and of course nobody wants to be the band director who loses a seventh grader in Disneyland to whatever perverted monsters may be lurking there.
So eventually word spread throughout almost the entire band that I was missing and everyone was going out of their minds looking for me. Meanwhile, I was resting comfortably at the hotel, sleeping off too much excitement. ._.
So, long story short, my most embarrassing moment was the time I got lost at Disneyland, only not. Unfortunately, as much as I don't blame the director for being so upset, my relationship with him was never quite the same after he ripped me a superfluous new backside in front of god and everybody. And it was never quite the same with the other three girls who knew full well where I was and that I had permission to be there, but didn't speak up and tell anybody or step in on the chewing out. >.>
Now your turn! :D

If your pup hates to be wet and doesn't like the sound of rain, is there any good way to make going outside to pee easier for them?
If your pup is nervous at the sound of rain on the windows/roof at night, is there a good way to soothe them when they start pacing on the bed? I tuck them in and snuggle them and they will lay down, but are still clearly uncomfortable with it and still stir and fidget with nerves.
Google says desensitization (gradually introducing them to the stress-trigger) but I can't force it to sprinkle out for them. Light water fall in the shower is not quite the same. Google also says keep a calm environment. I can't think of a way to make bedtime more calm besides all resting peacefully together, which happens every night. I do massage them before bed, which makes them happy and drowsy right up until 2am when they hear rain on the roof.
The effectiveness of Thundershirts are unverified, but Dante hates having sweaters on so it would more likely make him even madder. I'd rather not resort to medication unless I have to.
So! Dog people! How do you soothe a nervous dog when you can't control the source of their stress? How do you make going out in the rain to pee comfortable when rain is stressful to them?
This isn't a HUGE problem, as it doesn't rain all that often here. But I do hate to see my darlings all stressed out. If I can calm them, I'd love to.

Do we call them "underpants" because we wear them "under" our "pants" or because they are "pants" that we wear "under" our other clothes?
We sometimes use the words "underpants" and "underwear" interchangeably, but is it proper to relegate "underwear" to the designation of only one kind of garment while its cousin "outerwear" refers to many different kinds?
