I know all too well your pain. I've been shafted on all my Augs, and i've augmented weapons + armour a total of 91 times. My friend on the otherhand has done 2weskits, 1 with Macc+3 and other with MP+31, then hes done 1 mezraq with Acc+4...

See, the kicker is, I wanted resistance, just... not dark.
Healing magic skill +1 on my Chiv Chain is still my favorite.

Amemet Mantle with +2 ice resist
Ruby Ring with -14 mp +14 hp
Ruby Ring with -1 agi -1 mnd and +2 chr
One of my friends got +2 dex on a chiv chain and another got +6 atk on his warwolf belt.

The turtle seemed to have a much higher damage resistance than the other 2 we did(or any other time before that for that matter), consistently Sneak Attack+Dancing edge did about 4 times less damage on the turtle for this result. Holy crap nice... yeah sometimes it resist ice some more sometimes even absorbs it. Hell one time I got it immune to direct magic dmg.

If I had the gil to do that, I'd be doing it but that's my 6th weskit so that's about 18mil. >.>

We wipe to the first one due to not taking the turtle seriously and it having en-petrify and some bad luck. Oops.
Guy goes first and gets -2 int +3 mnd -2 chr on a Fire staff. Oops.
So, I trade my Wind Staff (lol nq) and cross my fingers and get...

I think the characteristics of the NM can certainly have an effect on what the augments will be, like you say he had enblizzard, and you got INT out of it. On my penitents rope Eraser had enaero and I got evasion, RSE boots he had blaze spikes and I got fire resist. The issue though is that there's no known way of determining what characteristics the NM is going to have before you pop it, which basically means that information is useless.
I keep having high hopes they make a quest that erases augments, allowing you to try again.
Maybe limit it like 1 removal per conquest lol.
