Well, SE extended the maintenance yet another 2 hours beyond their previous extensions.

Guess I'll be going to bed now.

I watched and read all of it up until Kenpachi fighting that equally crazy Espada guy. So I wouldn't say I didn't watch a lot of bleach, I can even compare the anime to the manga. I said I've not watched a lot of anime in general. Edit: And I guess since I just said it to tool on messenger, look up the term deus ex machina. It has bleach stamped all over it lol
We've been over this things are similar thing before
What does deus ex machina plot devices have to do with things being similar?
Simpsons did it!

So now we are comparing the Simpsons to Bleach? Awesome 8P I'm not telling people to not like Bleach, but to deny the obvious flaws in the storytelling is just denial. I think we had a discussion about that on other people earlier Das 8)

I think the point he's trying to get across is that everything has been done. Every story is a re-telling of another story. There is nothing original anymore.

I remember my friend telling me about this philosophy class he took and one of the students explaining that no matter what unique properties you put onto something, it is merely a revamp of something that has been created previously. Merely an altercation of a previous concept.

Like, it's impossible to make a "new" fictional monster, because it is simply an variation or altercation of previously recorded devices of fiction.

Can you explain what that has to do with using deus ex machina plot devices over and over? You can't because there is no relation. Why not copy a story that actually uses more imaginative methods instead if that's all it's about... ?

Deus ex machina - Something or someone that comes in the nick of time to solve a difficulty, especially in works of fiction. Doesn't that sound like Bleach... over and over and over and over and over and....

It sounds like every FF story to me.

You do realize this is why I said I don't watch much anime right? My god.
I wasn't even referring to anime. I meant in general.

It's always more dramatic to pull the win out in the last second.

Or you can make the whole thing bittersweet and *** up.
Like in the movie Seven.

A fanboy would say that. Sorry.

Well give me instances where its the same ***over and over again....cuz I'm pretty sure there are differences in each arc that are enough to justify them as being different....

or PM me, w/e its 5:13 AM and I really should get to bed..I have to yell at my power company in the morning..I actually want to pay my bills, but they won't let me for some reason lol.

Not say it's bad. I'm just saying it would be better if each players deck didn't have 1 of almost every card and they didn't cheat and pull out exactly the one they want/need every turn

By moving a statue no less.

But yeah, it was a nice change to see the villain actually succeed and be thrust into a world where he remains dominate.

I've yet to see another game do that. seriously. I mean You should have all died there, but you still manage to pull it back and take out the enemy when he's at his strongest.

Ok, I'd better stop rimming VI, everyone knows my love for that game lol.

I wish more RPGs did that. You're at the "omg FINAL BOSS, IM GONNA WIN AND SAVE THE WORLD :D" then BOOM! You fail, world explodes, everyone dies, villain wins, and you're only halfway through the game, surprise!

That's what I liked about Death NOte for awhile... until they made the most impractical contrived ending to make Light barely lose. It was like everything and the stars aligned to take him down barely lol.
