Nah, I don't smoke, but a lot of my friends do and I have no personal problem with it. I think it should be legalized. I just never really developed the desire to inhale burning... anything, really, regardless of what it's made of.
Looks like it's about to be fully legalized here in California, (not just for "medical" uses but anyone over 21), so it seems I'm hardly in a minority on the issue.

Smoking weed really is a gripe for me, and I know it's been said a lot of times before but gateway drug.
Given that it's not physically addictive, has far lower rates of lung cancer, and hasn't served as a "gateway drug" for anyone I know that uses it, I have a hard time getting scared at the Marijuana Boogeyman. The "gateway drug" studies were mostly all done in the 80's and have been quite thoroughly debunked by legions of sociologists and statisticians.
By comparison, every meth head or heroin addict I've ever known has started with alcohol and tobacco and skipped right over pot, yet both of those are still legal and we saw what happened when we tried to criminalize alcohol in the 1920's. Also by comparison, I've found that pot smokers are a lot more courteous about their habit's effects on others than say, cigarette smokers, who often seem to not realize or care because it's legal.
I just haven't known any pot smokers who have lost self control and let it ruin their lives any more than people already can with cigarettes or booze. (More accurately, not since high school, but those kids weren't going anywhere anyway.) Most are very successful, very highly paid, very smart game industry people. By comparison, after one hit of heroin or crack, people seem to essentially "break," up in the head, and at that point they're pretty screwed. To me, if a drug essentially removes your capacity to use it responsibly from the very first dose, we should probably keep it illegal.
Dunno, all personal opinions of course. I'm hardly an expert. It just looks like full legalization is polling way ahead for the November ballot here in California, and most of those people, like me, don't smoke themselves.

I drink on certain holidays that's about it. I smoked a cig once in my life and felt bad about it. It did nothing for me and that was a high stress day where i thought it would so-called "help" lol.

Tried various stuff a few times, never found it enjoyable. Peer pressure and curiosity is more likely to have you move onto stronger things. Even rarely drink, and I'm Irish, crazy I know.

The drinking age in Japan is 20, but outside of major cities the laws are so lax (having to do with the one serving alcohol being able to "reasonably assume" the person is of age, etc), that it's effectively much younger. Being white, nobody over there could place my age anyway, so I was able to buy whatever drinks I wanted as early as like, 15.
That having been said, the fact there was no "cool" taboo about it, and nobody thought it was that wrong, took most of the motivation to drink out of it. Then, having to carry home much older drunken friends and hold them up while they puked their guts out at train stations did a pretty effective job killing whatever glamor was left over the next couple years.
As a result, while I had my first scotch at 15, and still enjoy a night out with friends on occasion, it's pretty rare and I just never feel compelled to overdo it. It's like the more restrictions you put on it and the more taboo you make it, the more people want to do it. Remove them, and it's suddenly no fun anymore.
I've had a lot of close calls with friends and alcohol. A suite mate in college died from alcohol intoxication in the next room down from mine. My grandmother drunk herself to death from alcoholism, and I've known a lot of people who have done, or said, thinks while drunk that have permanently messed up their personal and professional lives. By contrast, I've never seen any of that from pot.

^See that a lot. Drinking age is 18 here, was very cool to get older friends to get us some or try and pass as 18. Then when we did turn 18 we'd lost interest in it, became very casual. It's still funny since I know a lot of americans 18-21 who still think like that, but since I've been legal for years already I find it pretty amusing.

YAY another failed merit pty that topped out at 9.3k an hour. Sam drg thf cor brd rdm. Thf was pulling well after the mob died...drg had no haste gear...brd wasn't sleeping birds and rdm didn't heal much (sat on 90% mp most of the time) FFXI FTW

I thought I would give it a chance....I also didn't know the thf was pulling...or that the DD's weren't using haste gear..OR that the brd had ABd to 75 and had gimp skills and couldnt sleep for ***

Sounds like it could have been fairly decent even with the thf but after joining and finding all that out, meripo from hell. :x
Just a hint as to what I was dealing with..
Party had a thf puller and a brd with gimp *** skills so he couldn't pull b/c he couldn't sleep anything
setup was Brd, Rdm, Thf (with no haste gear), Cor, Drg (with no haste gear), Sam (with no haste gear)>.> LOL
This lovely drg fulltimed this gear....SOMETIMES he would swap in W turban while TPing...but not often
Also, idk how to make these pics any bigger...
