The new management for XIV is way WAY superior to what was there before.
The fact that Yoshi-P the lead developer gives us insight and an update plan is a very good start.

This next update gives you colored damage text, ability to view timers (oh goodie! we can see how long i can afk til i can do the next batch of leves!), turn on/off the viewing of equipment (seriously?) and giving you something like 100xp more when you're in a party.
How are any of those fun?

these new devs are NOT doing anything to make the game more likable, only making things the way the 200 people that actually still play it want it to be.

With the Versus XIII video, it's obvious how the game is going to work and how it most likely will feel, the only major changes might be additions to areas (hidden rooms, etc) or something along those lines, but the backbone of the game being implemented generally means that's how it's going to stay.

Camps have 5 people tops at them, at the ones I've been to. Even the camps near the starting cities have like nobody. It's *** sad dude.

Any word on what day the update for FFXI this month is? I'm not playing FFXI until it comes out because I can't justify exping for half the exp that I'd get after the update.

Item search feature, NM's, new mobs, new gear based NM's, Crafting recipes, UI improvements, Player polls and Letters from the producers.
That's all in the 2 months since they've been in.

Gobs and flans and some weird beastmen.
NM wise there's 3 'hnm' at the moment and other smaller ones.
I haven't done any of it yet.
