Losing Animikii Bullet.

I decided to bring my Corsair out of retirement after noticing the demand for the job, and receiving this bullet from Hurkan.
So I went into Abyssea to try and get my Marksmanship closer to the cap, and a macro error caused me to fire this bullet during Wildfire. As you can imagine, this is frustrating, and I am awaiting a response from SE to restore this item.
A bullet like this this should never be consumed, and although it was purely a mistake on my part, I think SE could do a lot more to prevent such an incident from occurring.
I have left a more detailed explanation on their forums. I would appreciate if the nice people here could read it, and "Like" it for me, so SE take notice. I would also welcome any further ideas on how this issue can be prevented.

A long time existing problem. They already patched the items in ammo slot they don't want to be mistakenly used. Using a restore on the bullet is your choice but you aren't going to get them to change anything else. Its unfortunate and I am sorry to hear it happened. I am a COR myself so I understand but, just have to be more careful. /comfort.
p.s. lol, personal army etc

Your bad...it sucks...you will have to farm another.
This is 100% WAI
I did this with my Bomb Core and my RSE Sachet like...in 2006...
Luckily, you can no longer throw your ammo (Honed Tathlum.
I wish there was a way to lock ammo in so it could not be thrown.
In the MMO, Dungeons and Dragons Online, they have that feature.
Not sure if they still have it...but there used to be a 1 time restore...

Yeah, that really sucks :/ But if you use spellcast you can make a rule so that you can pretty much not lose it unless you do something without spellcast and accidentally shoot it

It's a bullet tho, it's not ammo that's not meant to be used like those other items. It has to be able to be shot (unlimited shot for example). Animikii quiver (pouch?) would be neat, they did that with the conquest point arrows/bolts after all. Recast of one week like the CP stuff would keep people from abusing it.
Till then... To stop myself from shooting QD bullet, I have
/equip ammo "Animikii bullet" (was omphalos)
/ja "xxx shot" <t> <wait 1>
/equip ammo
so it immediately removes ammo from ammo slot after using QD. Theoretically can still shoot the bullet if spam another macro too fast, but I lost 2 omphalos bullets before that (because I was out of orichalcum or steel and didn't notice), and haven't lost any after (I still have 3 or 4 of them on mules since Akvan never wanted to give me heka's :P).

I never understood why they just didnt have the ammo be expelled from a waist piece with a 24hr timer or something. And have the bullet itself be rare/ex so you couldn't stockpile it.

I am usually one of the safest guys in FFXI. I always triple check whenever I buy things from AH or Bazaar, I always triple check whenever I drop things in my inventory. On this occasion I just genuinely forgot to put a macro change for a lower bullet in my Wildfire macro.
I do not use spellcast.

I do not use spellcast. I very much recommend putting the "/equip ammo" line to remove the bullet in your QD macro instead, as macro change for lower bullet won't work if there are no bullets of that kind in your inventory (the reason I lost omphalos bullets).

this. I lost Akvan bullet looong time ago aswell because my other bullets were all used and it could not equip the wildfire bullet, instat shooting the akvan one (for not much more dmg <.<) because it was still in slot. do what Sharain suggested above.
I would not waste your one time restore on this bullet, should try to get a new one from the rieve

I could waste hundreds of thousands of bayld to get it back though. Never needed a restore since starting in 2004. Don't really need anything off Hurkan, maybe the BST axe, thats about it.
Yea, I already had the bullet coming in for Quick Draw, but I wasnt using Quick Draw in Abyssea and had just left the bullet in without thinking about it.
There just seems to be so many ways you can easily shoot these bullets away and it shouldn't be so easy, which is why I recommend people like my post on the forum.
I am trying to think of a surefire way of not accidently shooting this bullet without using spellcast. It seems to be impossible to completely stop it from happening unless you keep track of the bullets you use consistently.

use this. End. It does not require spellcast to use this, its a normal macro. If you dont knoe, the blank "/equip ammo" unequips your current ammo, so you can't shot it because the slot will be empty 1 sec after you did your Quick draw.
and in your Shooting, wildfire w/e macro you start with
/equip ammo "xxx bullet"

I shot my first one off as well, about 36 hours after getting it. I was pulling ammo out of my sack, and i grabbed it instead of the 214 damage ammo.
I got it restored, and now I have 2 of it, since i mailed the restored bullet to myself before I did a second Hurkan.

You can send it over to a mule?? I may strongly consider doing this so I can have more then one, if it drops while im trying to get the BST axe that is.
Nice to know it can be restored. How did they restore it? Just put it back in your inventory?

Yea, and make absolutely sure every macro I make has those in and making sure I have the correct bullets out at all times...

If you want to be overly cautious, start every macro other than quick draw and unlimited shot(the two times you would use the ammo) with /equip ammo then /equip ammo (ammo name). So the first thing every single macro that shoots but doesn't use that bullet does is remove your currently equipped ammo. Barring you having a ranged attack shortcut key on your keyboard or manually selecting ranged attack from the menu this should prevent losing it.

Its pretty excessive, but I personally get so sucked into fights sometimes that I would totally forget so I will probably do this.

I haven't picked up the bullet from Hurkan yet but I have started using a delve bullet for my QD set. I wrote /equip ammo Steel Bullet as the first line of every macro that shoots a bullet on my Cor so this doesn't happen to me.

If you don't unequip the delve bullet after each QD and you run out of steel bullets then you will end up firing that delve bullet.

Kylos, Read Mindi's post.
If you type into a macro /equip ammo it will UNEQUIP ANY AMMO in that slot, meaning if you run out of the bullets you want to shoot, this will 100% garantee you WONT accidentally fire your treasured bullet.

Yea I got that Conagh. Like I explained on my SE forum post, I am still seriously new to COR (as much to say I am a pure noob of a pirate) so after bringing it out of retirement, I tried setting up macros, and clearly I failed. Never knew about that unequip macro.

I thought there was some update in the past that made it impossible to shoot ammo like like the old PPA without unlimited shot. I guess member they just talked about it.

They were unable to impliment it so made a useable quiver that dispensed 1 per RL day.

For almost every ammo most rng and cors should be use to that since the introduction of quivers and pouches. If they complain that they can easily replace super ammo they should just quit those jobs.
Back in my day my inventory was full of ammo since quivers and pouches didn't exist talk about inventory issues >.>...
