Seems like it's a costume of some sort, from the press release info:
As part of the promotion, FF13 lead character Lightning will put in an appearance in the remade, relaunched version of FF14 as part of a specific, exclusive quest line related to the famous heroine.
Her original FF13 outfit will also be made available for those playing female characters in game. Male characters can instead don Snow's trenchcoat-based outfit from the original game. The weapons of the main cast of FF13 will also be made available, including Lightning's gunblade, Fang's staff and Serah's bow.

Curious if the FFXIII stuff will be implemented permanently to get whenever you wish or a one time seasonal event. Really hope it's permanent. And WTF at that H2H... it looks so weird; is it supposed to be the exhaust system on Shivacycle? Ice axe is nifty but certainly throws continuity out the window with it being snow's weapon.
I am just a tiny bit disappointed by how similar a lot of the art on FFXIV is to other FF games, in some cases just being a high-res High-poly copy-paste.
Special exception given to the Avatars, who look similar enough to be identifiable, but different enough to stand out from previous incarnations.
I guess I'm just worried that FFXIV will turn into some kind of cesspool of FF IP that comingles without any purpose. I guess an easier way to put it is, I'm scared FFXIV is going to be the MMO equivalent of Fan-Fiction.

I would not worry about that yet. I am sure it will have its own identity, but at the same time filled with a lod of nod and reference to ALL past FF games. I can't wait for them to bring some FF12 to the game. From what I been reading, SE is readying their big guns for promotion as big as when they launch FF7 way back. Seems like they really took it very personal the fact that FF14 was the only FF in the franchise that failed at launch lol.

Of course they will be milking the fan base, they gonna milk them dry LMAO with all these cuteness overload fan service that will appeal to the japanese players. Can you say Animal Crossing housing style? You can build and sell your house... As long as they are not going to start selling "vanity items" for $1.99-4.99 add ons, I am fine with these boatload of fan service.
This is their direct milking for FF14... $70-80 upfront!!

They wouldn't be Vanity items if they were useful or better than the actual armor they'd be covering up or replacing for aesthetics.
I do hope there are a lot of different Vanity items though, looking good while kicking butt, is one of the most important parts of an MMO.

It was me! I used the duty finder found a group for Halitali and denied them and the moment I said no it said emergency maintenance. Please forgive me.
So how does the Duty Finder work? I only looked at what was available, not how you join groups and such
Select the thing you want to do Dungeons etc and just queue up and if there are people looking to do the samething it will group you up.It will then notify to join or decline.
