I got a difficulty to connect to my account since last night.
And now I found the trick, my security token was desativated.
And now, my main character was deleted...

Does anyone know what happened ? and what should I do ?

This same scenario happened to me as well. The hacker was able to deactivate my token and SE told me they were unable to replace my token. I wasted 10 bucks on the damn thing...

You most likely did not get 'hacked' in the manner most people think of it. Nobody is blindly getting access to your computer just to get your FFXI password. What this means is that either you willingly downloaded something that has a trojan(in which case it's likely still on your computer), shared your password with someone who you shouldn't have(in which case you should be careful who you reshare with), or your wife deleted your account because you play too much. I only point this out because there are appropriate precautions to take when you regain your account, else it may just happen again right off.

Not the first time I have heard of someone with a security token getting hacked.

That's BS. YOU didn't deactivate it therefore SE should damn well replace or let you reactivate it free.

Stuff I found relating to this:
If you accidentally deleted the software token

How do I re-install the Software Token?

Also:

We will replace your SQUARE ENIX Security Token free of charge if its battery runs out or due to manufacturing defects within 3 months, but for any other reason, you will need to purchase a new SQUARE ENIX Security Token.

Do you understand what 'getting hacked' is? There was some component that transferred his information to someone else. Unless you're suggesting it was on SE's end, that means he has malware that he downloaded or acquired(through a flash exploit or something similar). It doesn't matter that he has a token, the proper course of action is to address how the information was compromised before logging back in so it doesn't happen again.

Yeah, I know. Plus, what's worse is before I go hacked I had just bought a brand new computer from ASUS and the only thing installed was FFXI. Hadn't even browsed the internet on the damn thing yet. No joke. And then I got hacked within a few days on playing on the new computer. Furthermore, my security token is hooked to my keychain with my car keys and thats in my pocket 24/7. So theres no way someone else had the token besides me. Either way, SE owes me a new token....

Yes I do. What I DON'T understand is how does someone with a security token gets hacked. (These tokens are the exact same kind of thing that investment banks and companies sell for $100 to protect their client's accounts. And those accounts are worth a bit more than any FFXI account.)

But it does seem to happen. That's what the line you quoted was about. It was not refuting your advice.

Its actually quite easy for a hacker to remove a security token. Seeing I have been hacked 4 times I know exactly how they do it. After the hacker gets info from your computer using a key logger they call into se as you and then they can ask se to remove it saying that they lost the token and all they need is your name email address zip. Which any hacker can get pretty easy. But anyways good luck on your game data recovery I know the pain of it.

Yes but protect from a bank requires the person to be there with Id and there social and all information where se is a ***company anymore and they will do anything for anyone as long as people line there pockets still

But SE said it was removed by me. I asked if someone called and requested it and they said it was removed on my end.

You can, but only if you have the respective device (iOS/Android I believe), so if you're using like a windows phone or something, you're boned (in b4 lolwindowsphone). You get satchel with it too.

Read Acey's post again. Quite consistent with that methodology.

'on my end' implies that he manually removed it via the SE website, not an employee of SE removed it for him.

It should be noted that the tokens work off an algorithm and really you would only need to have a keylogger record 2-3 entries before a hacker could figure it out and have instant access to your account WITHOUT having to call SE and do it the dirty way. Definitely sounds like you had a Trojan or keylogger of some sort on your PC. Have you run all your malware/antivirus programs yet? That would have been the first thing I would have done after I had determined my account(s) had been compromised. Best of luck getting your situation resolved.

Note you can't remove yoru security token from the website unless you have the original numbers off the back like my old ones numbers are 22-0944163-9, when he registered the token on SE he was already being key logged, and that is how they could remove it from the site.

Masa you are correct on that but, what you did not mention is that the token only works for the code after you hit the power button on it so, the hacker would have to do it as he hit the power button and chances of getting that precise with timing, i think i would rather play the lottery

What do you think the odds are that they will recover the new character made over the content ID that was emptied by the deletion of the original character?
