Wasn't sure if I should post Windower info, but since their site won't let my account post for some reason, I thought I'd share here. Figuring this out has been such a boon to my playstyle, I had to share.

I play on multiple PCs and I always had trouble keeping my Windower (let's just say) 'settings' synced between multiple machines. So what I came up with was to get a free Dropbox account and install it on all the machines I play on. The I installed Windower to the public dropbox folder, and it's as simple as just launching Windower from the drop box folder.

Any time I update a file in the dropbox folder it's automatically synced between all PCs signed in to the account. This has been a tremendous help, especially for gear changing situations.

I've been using this technique since Windower 3.4, but 4.0 allows multiple profiles which takes this much further. My PC and Laptop run different resolutions and Windower 3.4 could never do this well.

The only thing left to sync up is macros and markers - I know you can back these up to the server but it's a pain to do that every time you log in/out.

You could use Junction to make a symbolic link between your dropbox folder and the user folder in your FFXI directory.

Microsoft's Technet Junction Page

Just use junction to create a link from
C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER\
if you installed ffxi in the default location (non-steam version)
to your dropbox folder.

Wow. That worked perfectly. My macros and map markers are now synced in real-time to DropBox the second I add or make any changes.

The exact command I ran was

"D:\Software\Applications\Junction\junction.exe" "D:\DropBox\Games\FFXI\USER" "C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER"

Make sure the USER folder does not exist in DropBox before you do this.

Note that the user folder only updates once you log out. So be sure you logout properly. A crash won't save it ^^. I've lost hours of macro changes to that before.
