In other news, so if I download that file from mega.co.nz and copy/paste overwrite it into my FFXI folder, I can then be just run POL and it should allow me to play after a much smaller update? Basically I want to know if this is going to get me passed the 3801 file download update thing 'cause it's at 5 hours now and...

Well I followed the directions of downloading then replacing files. After doing a file check, it says 1400 files are bad. Was hoping to get this all done during lunch but I'll have to figure it out after work.

do not do the file check. If you go through file check it is near as bad as doing the update from the start. Once you have gotten the files into the folders log in and go through the screens as if you would be updating normally instead. After it checks all your files through that version the download should be under 10 minutes. do NOT do file check!

Ya this happened to me but when you do version check its only 23 files, even if it wont let you dl them lol

Thanks, I'll try that when I get back home. Hopefully the fact that I already did the file check doesn't screw it up!

Happened to me, but it's irrelevant. Like poster above said, don't do file check. Just log in as you usually would. Once you go through the update screen and scans through those files, you have to download 18 more files. Unfortunately, you'll most likely have to keep hitting retry.
Okay. I think I'll just let POL Viewer do it's thing. I did use Krizz's SoA installer though and had no problems with that, but that was just to install SoA. There are a lot of updates that were not in the expansion installer I guess.
I think I'll just skill up real life in the mean time.

I believe that SquareEnix should hire several members of this community as liaisons. The work some of the community could put out for them as compensated employees could honestly help prevent them from such huge financial losses (as mentioned in other recent threads).

Did you do the file check? If you did redo the mega download and go to the play screen instead of file check. Should leave you with only 24 files to do.
Did anyone experience issues with not even being able to do a file check during the updating process after using the MEGA download? I replaced my ROM folders but when trying to log in to the game it won't even check files before making me press retry.

Tip: Don't trust 3rd party downloads. If you run into errors, that's your own fault.

Be prepared to unload blinkmenot all over again. sigh.
Anything that uses input/output is broken. Windower doesn't seem able to read what you type into chat, nor use windower macros or alternative input to send things to server.

Did some Ig-Alima right before server went down, already have a petri log in my inventory! Great success. >:D
The people who got in downloaded update early or used patch files from somewhere else.

Well I figured the congestion was just with trying to dl the update, I've never had a problem getting into the viewer during congestion before.
Yup, I used the mega file. Extract to your FFXI folder, logged in and clicked play, only 10 files to download. Took 2 minutes and bam, im ingame.
spellcast also confirmed broken. Not partially like last time but completely..
Sry iff it got asked earlier in tread didnt feel like reading it but ... Did they finaly really nerfed embrava? still stuck in DL screen so cant test anything..
