[Dev] Software Token Smartphone App
Roflol. Yoy have to be *** kidding me on this ***. How about SE do the smart thing and Fix your customer support first I cant count how many times you call north america customer support, and dont get any issues resolved, or if it goes to the japan side the complete lack of communication between the 2 departments. as for this great security token. In the past its only good for one thing, the extra invintory space. And the hidden thing you added into your tos. "You must have a security token attached to the account to be eligeble for any type of account recovery" If you call and ask se what is the current volume of comprimised accounts you will find out it is currently higher now than the last 2 years. Is there security problems on the se side yes. token or not people are being hacked in high volumes other mmos or buisness have great customer support. I myself am going through my 2nd hack in 2 months. security tokens attached and patiently waiting for my 2nd roll back. This new security option in my opinion is just a horrible idea.
I'm sure a lot of the "hackings" is also poor credential handling. Like putting trust in the wrong people.

Not all residents of the U.S live where there's a cell tower to provide a signal. I should know, I'm one of'em. I know the Blizzard one isn't effected by time zone, connection, or anything like that.
So I doubt that any of those factors will matter. Fenrir.Candlejack said: » 2. They should fix their customer service department. Back when I played WoW, going back about 8 years ago, Blizzard's CS department was fully operational 24/7. SE's only works during "normal business hours" Monday through Friday. You're *** if you try calling them on the weekends. That's because they still have the same corporate mentality they did back in the 80's and 90's where you could just publish a game and forget it. Tech support was only for the handful of people who ended up with a bad cartridge or disc, and could no longer simply return their copy to the store. 24/7 support wasn't needed, because there wasn't a whole lot that could go wrong and no one was going to raise a stink over what most people would consider a child's toy. The gaming market has vastly changed and they have not. In before - "my old phone doesn't have WIFI, what about for the customers that can't afford a new smart phone?"

If it loses it's date/time it will lose sync with the server, meaning it's good as trash. So if you try make sure it never loses power. what battery is in it? 3v? edit: I have an old one that was deactivated when it was misplaced, and replaced, I could see if I can take it apart and parralel the voltage source to it while it gets swapped. RIGHT AFTER INSTALLING? LOL. Siren.Kalilla said: »
I saw this posted on a different FF forum and I had to laugh because everything they cover is 99% user error. They shoulda went with the blizzard app style,give you a digital serial number (like on the back of your RL token) that can be entered along with another specific code (which they prompt you to write down for safe keeping) in case of phone loss,upgrade,etc Oh SE,you so silly It's only been out for 2 days... *** people are dumb.
![]() Just to bump this thread, i'll share this info. Apparently if you lost/damage/replace your phone, the emergency password you got is only good for one use. Nowhere do they mention that part. So, my phone was running kinda sluggish, so i reset it, reinstalled the security token and all was well. Well, ATT finally gave the Note a Jelly Bean update, and i was all over it. So i updated (upgrade), but i shouldve did a full install. I reinstalled the security app, and went to unlink and relink it in my account management. No go. The emergency password was only good for that one use the first time.
I'd use it if you could still use the hardware token also. Be nice to have a back up, rather than a replacement ; ;
What if someone steals your emergency password? Or maybe you lose that emergency password somehow and you broke your phone by sitting on it.
You need a fallback password for the fallback password that will be used to unlock the token password. Leviathan.Andret said: » What if someone steals your emergency password? Then you outta luck, like me, and have to wait to talk to someone at SE (which isn't open on the weekends). In all honesty, my security token was working fine. I should have kept it, and used the app as a last resort...
Just need a real quick answer.
If I use the software token can I give my security token to my wife or will my security token be useless for her account. nephilipitou said: » Just need a real quick answer. If I use the software token can I give my security token to my wife or will my security token be useless for her account. Disabling the physical token will render it useless, it cannot be attached to another account. If you deattach your physical token and start using the software token instead, your wife cannot register your old physical token for her account. Anyone knows a working iPhone or AndroidOS emulator that I could run on my PC and use this software token with? Tried few, but I can't even download the app so far :/
Just want to see if anyone else had the same issue. I installed the app on my phone last night and when I logged in using the one time password I didn't have access to the satchel. I checked my SE account and my account is linked, etc. so I just don't know if I'm missing something.
I haven't checked to see if I have the satchel since I logged off last night. I'll have to wait until I get home to find out. any clue if the Nokia Lumia 820 can get this app?

Tried few, but I can't even download the app so far :/ Well Apple makes an Emulator for iPhone, but I pretty sure you must be running OS X to use it. Software is free, it's called XCode. So I doubt that will do you any good, but Android, you can go and download their development kit. Tons of guides out there on there on the Net on how to set it all up. Even some YouTube vids. The Android emulator is also free to use, not sure how easy it would be to get the app on it. And even if you do, I'd imagine it'd get pretty annoying to launch that emulator every single time you want to hop into FFXI. Are there 3rd party emulators, not that I know of, but I've also not looked around too much as I haven't had the need. Maybe someone else will know of one.
