Learning BLU Spells

Yeah Wiki has it listed but GS doesn't :/ so that's why I'm like "should I be here or not?".

also remember to remove your subtle blow items

in face i use the sharpeye mantle with its minus subtle blow to help the process.

Best advice I can give a blu, coming from someone who aby burned, is get up to 60 or so asap, and get the af1 gloves. They are a lifesaver.

Then you can increase your blu magic and learning the spell shouldn't be too hard, I think my record is 1/6 with the gloves.

Is that record for minimum or maximium?

Cause 1/6 is great if that's the highest number you've ever had to deal with for learning a spell.

AF gloves are extremely noticable. Looking at my data for learning spells 1/1 on my own BLU, my success rate for learning spells 1/1 before AF gloves was something like ~52.7.7% but with AF1 gloves it was 73.2%. I had a lot more 1/1's post AF gloves and I never went more than 1/6 on any spell after AF gloves (infact I only went 1/6 on one spell and it was mothafucking Mandibular Bite.)

I burned the job up so as to help get spells efficiently. I then capped my skill and got my af gloves and set out hunting spells. For lower lvl zones id pull 3+ or each family that I was trying to learn from and diaga spam. You do have to pay attention to what mob is using what move but you can learn 5 spells in a pull. Then I went and did all the other spells from harder mobs. Aby is fairly easy to learn in with all the atma at your fingertips.

With gloves on and capped skill I probably averaged learning the spell after the 2nd or 3rd cast. Id say at least 50% were on first cast but some straglers took up to 6 casts or so. A few I had went over 10 times only to figure out I was on the wrong class or I had already learned it at some point and didnt update my list. The main thing that takes some time is if the mobs dont cast what you want to learn. So I have gone 3-4 mobs without one casting the spell I want. Multiply that by 3 casts to learn and you might take an hour or more on a spell depending on the respawns.

Having af gloves and capped skill are invaluable. If you are hunting spells, do yourself a favor and make those a priority.

Keep in mind some mobs only use their BLU TP move under certain conditions:

-Lamia only use Hysteric Barrage and not Tail Slap.
-Merrow only use Tail Slap and not Hysteric Barrage
-Certain mobs require you to break their equips i.e Imps will only use Frenetic Rip if you break their horn.
-Certain TP moves are conditional based on the direction a mob is facing you; Ruzcors only use Sub Zero Smash if you're facing their tail.
-Certain mobs only use certain TP moves depending on the time of day. Ladybugs use Spiral Spin during the day and Sudden Lunge at night.
-Some mobs TP moves are only in certain zones. Regular rabbits don't use Wild Carrot but ones in CoP zones do.
-Certain mobs require them to have all their appendages; Hydras only Tourbillion with all 3 heads alive.
-Certain TP moves depend on the job class of the mob. TOAU beastmen teach 2 BLU spells each but for example; Mamool Ja melees and Mamool ja mages both use Firespit, but you can only learn it from the Mamool Ja mages; you can only learn Warm-Up from Mamool Ja melee despire the fact that mages use it too.


The most annoying thing are mobs with tons of TP moves, Golems have 6 versions of Crystal Weapon and that Crystal Shield move too then heavy strike. Worms have like 5 or 6 TP moves as do Leeches so getting them to use Sandspin/MP Drainkiss can be annoying.

This is your best plan of attack.But i would really think it is a better idea find something that is dc or em or even when it is an it to you have a 99 friend or 75 friend if the case may be.Then have them take all the hate as long as the spell is used on someone ether of you.There is a chance you will get it.

You don't even have to be in zone or online to learn it when its used, just when it dies. I logged in and a friend was fighting kb, i asked if i could learn the spell, vw warped and he killed it as soon as i got in range, it only used thunder before i logged in and i got it.

It sounds to me like you just got lucky.

Lucky or not, this is a good explanation of requirements which is exactly why it was posted. You CAN learn in this situation so you just need to make sure when you go to learn spells that you meet the requirements to learn. "Be in range of a mob that's used he spell you want when it dies and have the necessary blu skill".
