Why FF9 is the best Final Fantasy
fml. 96 jump ropes!
FF3 (for the snes, think it was called ff6 in japan) was the first one I played and has a place in my heart and I have liked every game since except FFX-2.
When I think FFX, I think:
Look I know we where on about the FFXIII-2 crazy chocobo theme but honestly you never rode those things ever.
I personally enjoy this chocobo theme. Haters gunna hate. When I think FFX I think:
Lol Seymour
The only reason to consider FF9 the best IMO is because of Vivi the lovable clusmy blm. But I'm with moogleking on this one FF6 takes it I think it has amazing music and a better storyline compared to the others. The poisoning at Doma. The opera scene. Rachel reborn. Locke is the reason I made my Mandau. He'd rip zidane up anyday. I like all the ffs in there own way but this was my first one too and my favorite. I'm sick of all the younger gamers putting 7 or 8 to be the best cause that's all they ever played I played em all but 9 isn't the best. get a emulator if u don't have one play the old school FFs I'm sure most of u have and know the old school would demolish the new.
Kain < freya Cecil < steiner Vivi < over all blms Locke< over all thfs I mean treasure hunters :p When I think of FFX, I think of:

You just said that Kain, Cecil, Vivi, and Locke suck compared to their counterparts. This game is what finally introduced me to the Final Fantasy series and to rpg's in general.
I found the story to be among the greatest in the series, and the characters were diverse and all had independent interests that intertwined with the main story as well. There were tons of mini games and side quests that kept the game from being too linear. I found the soundtrack to be one of the better OST's in the series. Combat was fluid and easy to follow (no funky junction system). The world map was well thought out and no matter where you were, I felt that you had a reason to be there (not a lot of filler). If I were to pick another game in the series to rival this as my favorite, i'd go for FFX, for pretty much all the exact same reasons. I also love the fact that almost everyone agrees that any "best" or "favorite" FF games comes before the merge with Enix. Yea I messed up I didn't mean that how it came out all those characters are better Imo then the rest that do those jobs
Always thought 8>7 personally.
When it comes to worst.. X, X-2 comes to mind. X-2 Was so feminine.. (No offence to anyone for any reason) X. Tidus' laugh I think that's enough said. i think x-2 was the start of "follow the yellow brick road syndrome" what i mean by this is... you where given a stage and instead of going around exploring (like 8 or 7 where your given a landscape and u can go anywhere, to find hidden stuff) your course was already drawn out and all u have to do is run forword.
edit: but in there defence... this yellow brick road syndrome started to become a trend that other games started to apply, resident evil fell victim to it, thus why i hate re now, use to be a BIG fan of re and FF series. edit2: FF pre mmo versions. 13 was just a big movie to me, start here get there, look at long cs, rinse and repeat and 13-2 i didnt even borther totaly aree
used to be a big fan of RE but now i think game is shhhtt ffx was good but ff13 xd x-2 coudnt get into it & now XIII-3 -.- Bismarck.Helel said: » FF9 obviously had the best characters out of all the final fantasy games. The story was a little abstract as the game went on, which I actually enjoyed, but from a fiction perspective, it wasn't as well constructed as some of the other games. It's still my favorite final fantasy however, as none of the other games develop the characters nearly as well. In terms of story, FFX has the best story, hands down. Can't tell if troll or serious... My reason for loving IX, was that the game was a sort of allusion to the franchise itself.
Characters were essentially caricatures of various existing "jobs" in the series, yet were still relatively complex and full of development throughout the game. Whether it was Zidane's initial misled womanizing guised as saving a damsel in distress, which later evolved into a matter of self discovery and subsequently, loathing, which with the support of his allies and love interest, overcame the lie he has lived all his life. Or perhaps the curious existence of Vivi, who lives only in the moment until the strings of fate thrust him upon a war, using mindless dolls of destruction in his likeness, leading him to question his existence and purpose in life. Where did he come from? What is he living for? This is something that can echo and relate to just about anyone. Steiner, though initially annoying and haughty, comes to question his initial sense of duty, and comes to terms with his obligations and the consequence they hold not only to guarding Princess Garnet, but to the world as well. Evolving from a prude bodyguard, to a truly noble guardian, whose cause and purpose is pure and sound. Garnet, while on the road to discovering her history, and the answers to the nightmares that have haunted her for years, and witnessing the unspeakable horrors committed by her surrogate mother, swears unyielding fealty to her country, its people, and more importantly: her friends. Never compromising justice or compassion, she holds inner strength and will that is unparalleled to any character in the entire game. And Freya, who despite losing losing her entire country and race of people to the genocide of Queen Brahne, along with the love of her life to amnesia, clings to hope. After facing a fate she herself would deem worse than death, she motivates herself forward, for the sake of those lost and loved, she is determined to make herself worthy of legend for the history books, than to be left behind and forgotten within the pages, where many others have since gone. She will be remembered, she will never, ever be forgotten. I could go on, but I rather the characters speak for themselves. And all of this has nothing to say to the sublime soundtrack, the effective and concise gameplay mechanics, the extensive yet rewarding mini games, extensively detailed environments, homage to the familiar and lovable elements that make a Final Fantasy, and overall warming experience to conclude this stellar package that rightfully deserves its place as one of the best titles in the franchise. But alas, that's just my 2 gil. Different strokes for different folks; I won't argue that. FF3 (FF6 Japan and EU)was one of the best ff i think. after that ff7 is my favorite. FF9 was ok but the character design was too childish for me at this time. Also the storyline was kinda crappy imo.
but thats only my point of view.. think everyone has his own fav of the series. To Resi6: i dont think its that bad as many people say. Less QE would be nice. Sometimes it feelz like a gow wannabe but still.. it has its moments espacially in Leons campaign were it feelz like one of the old Resi games. Also i think it rly depends on how you play it.. like rushing through the levels shootin down and/or runnin past everythin as fast as you can killz the game fo sure. its defenetly better then resi 5 i think^^ (sry for my bad english) Shamian said: » FF9 was ok but the character design was too childish for me at this time. Indeed, the design was put on a less dramatic or realistic scale as shown in previous titles, but the game itself holds its own with a great deal of adult drama and thematic elements. Genocide, genocide everywhere... soo true cele! i totally agree
I didn't come here to argue about which FF is the best.. I just wanted to see the funny pictures which would have inevitably made my day...
LOAD PICTURES, LOAD. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - LOAD!!! I liked the art and music of 9 a lot, but gameplay is just too "traditional JRPG" for me, it's really nothing special even compare with some of the older FFs. It's a lot like FF4 or 6, but I liked FF3 or 5 more ._.
Xenogears rules all anyway.
Black choco theme! HA! If sales numbers mean how good a game is, then every CoD is the best game ever......and im sure Almost everyone on this sight would agree with me that there not.
I believe Art said it all already. I for one will forever praise the game's setting. With 7 and 8 before it being in these dark futuristic settings it was a breath of fresh air. I have always been a fan of magical lands in RPGs. The world really spoke for itself in 9. You could almost picture yourself living in it. From the beautiful plains to the dark and foggy caverns it was truly expanded world as opposed to its ps1 predecessors.
The characters themselves all go through a form self reflection and growth in some sort of way. Quina is the only character who probably doesn't really but the thing that is most likable about Quina is the mystery behind the character itself. Even SE hasn't chosen a gender for it. The fact it can literally eat monsters whole which poses the question what void of a stomach does it have. I'd have to say that for the PS1 it was the most polished jrpg of its generation. Like how Dragon Quest 8 is known for this on the ps2. But ultimately we all are entitled to our opinions and we all like different things so it really doesn't matter who argues what because in the end no one is going to change how they feel about something they hold so dear in their hearts :) So badass that it didn't need to be a 'number'.
![]() Had it been part of the numbered series, it certainly would be in the top 3~5 for many. Sadly, it's often overlooked because of it's lack of a number. Then again... some other great things in the FF series didn't have numbers... |
